  • Build a simple shop dust collection system in no time. My construction is mobile - it has wheels - and it can also be carried using the handle. Powerful cyclone dust collector can be made for a few bucks.
If you have ever tried to use a regular vacuum cleaner in the workshop, you quickly realized the filter gets full in a few minutes. There has to be some other solution to dust, right?
A cyclone dust collector separates dust in the following way: particles are removed from the main air stream thanks to centrifugal force.
Watch the video to see how particles rotate in the container and cannot get (thanks to centrifugal force) to the vacuum cleaner's filter. The smallest gets there, but you can clean the filter from time to time.
See how the device was built. I am using this DIY vac every time I do some woodworking in my shop, and also for cleaning floors, like a standard vacuum cleaner.
To build the cyclone dust separator/collector, you may need:
    • a glue gun and a lot of glue
    • jigsaw
    • 2 empty paint buckets (get free buckets at any construction site)
    • 45° angled pipe
    • (ash or workshop) vacuum cleaner
    • wheels (from a broken chair)
    • plywood
    • screws
    • vac pipe hose
If you have some ideas how to improve the construction, please share in the comments.
Let us also know how you like this device and how have you solved the dust problem yourself (or how you will solve it soon). Thank you for watching!
