I’m a woman of color and blessed to become 72 yo in November and truly grateful to you for sharing your invaluable insight on life. You give me such inspiration to remain optimistic about advanced aging. Sunday I fell injuring my head, facial bruising, broken breakfast dishes, and oh dear, both my knee replacements and were hurt. Nanny I’m recovering and you’re first person I’ve had the courage to share my unfortunate accident. You’re lovely, bring me such joy everyday and now you’re singing and discussing makeup! I love you and Moosey from afar in Jesus Christ’s name. ❤❤❤

I’m 80 and use to be so energetic I live on a farm and so very happy then one day my hubby died with no warning then I came down with a rare form of bacterial meningitis and stroke in a coma for two weeks . Now I can do hardly anything can barely walk the sickness caused me to be deaf. That was 16 years ago and I’m still struggling. I have 4 living sons who have been a big help And some where along those years I have taken in cats that people throw away like trash and I get them neutered and spayed and shots but I can’t keep it up I can barely take care of my self but I love them I’ve had commits that my house smells like cat pee . I enjoy listening to you and hearing about your Moosie and little glimpses of shamu I am a Christian and felt I was led to your channel your message light at the end of a dark tunnel. So glad Moosie is doing better each day snd so are you . Thank goodness for family.!!❤️

I've tried to learn over the years to appreciate each stage that I'm in right now. My mother taught me (and I'm just now appreciating it) that Nothing Is Permanent. That means not the good AND not the bad. If I can appreciate the day for what it is, I will be much less unhappy with my circumstances. I'm still working on this...

Loved your chat today. We were also able to move my parents onto our property and built them a small cabin style home. It was important for them to be a bit away from us and have their own space and their own lives. They have passed now. So many changes, the longer we live the more changes we have. Our kids are grown, our grandkids are grown, our great grands don't live that close and of course they are shared with their other grandparents, etc. I think it gets a bit harder as we get older. Like you said we have to accept where we are and make each day happy and productive. Yes treasure the memories.

I do get a little sad not having the life I had in my 40s. I loved my job and doing things with my mom and kids. Kids have their own life now and my mom is gone. I try to keep busy with things. I’m trying to do more excersise since having a terrible setback after major surgery. A lot of it due to the fact that I’m not in shape. I wish I had your energy nanny. You do so much. We are renters now in Florida and don't get to see our children as much as we'd like but we have excepted our retirement years and gettin older very well also. Of course, like you and Moose, we have each other and that helps. Trying to make each other happy now that we have more time than we did when we were first married with jobs and children to raise. I had to chuckle today on this topic…..My mother once told me that turning 50 didn’t bother her, 60 tweaked her a little, but what really got to her, was she all of us hit our 40s. She said that she still felt like 35 in her head, but when all of your kids are in their 40’s, You can’t be. I am now in that stage and I completely understand her feelings! So I choose to be grateful every day for my health, my family, a beautiful day, etc and to understand
that every day, every year is truly a gift. Love to you both and keep on truckin’. ❤😊

True that all things must pass ...yet, the challenge is to prolong its enjoyment for as long as we can...and savour every bit. Warmest salutations from Eastern Canada.

I think many feel that "aging melancholy" from time to time with the different changes that life brings to us all. But I don't think we need to feel guilty too when the feeling happens, it's just a natural part of missing what used to be. The important thing is to not stay sad like you said. We have to find our gratitude and let that melancholy feeling ride over us like a wave. It helps knowing that its a common part of aging to us all. Thanks for your honesty, Nanny, be blessed!

Oh Nanny. It's Malibu Sandy here. Thank you so much for your shout out. I was watching you pick up your dinner from Del Taco and my first thought was "I must find. Del Taco near me." Thank you for the shout out. I really appreciate it. At 83 I don't have the years to build up the audience. I love buying shrimp at Costco and using that on my
Charcuterie board. Yes, to the frustration of peeling eggs. ❤❤❤

I love this and am sorry at the same time. I hit this spell in my mid 50's. My husband passed and the times of having 30+ people at my house for the holidays evaporated. As the children grew and merged into new families, I was left behind (not on purpose). I did not have daughters, so this made it a bit harder. I had to learn to create my own life, their lives were not reflective of how I did things in my 40's.....their family cultures are different. I've never dated or remarried, but am always busy and now working on a Master's Degree at age 69. I honestly think those younger than me are a bit envious of my freedom. Aging means nothing when it really gets down to it - you've shown us that. I am so grateful I found your channel, it brings a breath of fresh air to my life. It's like sitting with a therapist-mom. I love your honesty. And it is so true - age is just a number.

Hi Karen , I have a Son too . He lives out of State and is a bachelor . My nieces and nephews have flown the nest as well and have no children. I do have two wonderful brothers and sister-in-law’s who are still in the workforce so they’re not really around much. When you said you got your masters degree at such a mature age, it really impressed me and I felt wow I could’ve done that maybe but I’m pretty sure I could have a great accomplishment.❤

Hello dear Mary Ellen.....what a sincere and honest discussion of melancholia and YES, I believe if we are ALL honest, this is something everyone deals with now and then...especially as we age. I think it comes at different times in our lives as we face changes....leaving behind the lighthearted days of childhood, going away to college or getting our first job, leaving home and going out into the world, moving from familiar surroundings, losing old friends and yes, even losing our former vitality or loss of health. Time is seasonal and nature is such an example of the changing seasons of life....the birth of spring and all things new and exciting, summer's glow and endless activity, the onset of fall and golden days of restfulness and then the quiet of winter and a slowing down and reflection. We look back with nostalgia at the days of our youth, our venturing out into the world, our families and all the many varied events that have filled our lives. We may at times feel a bit of melancholia at the changes and the passing of those summer days of youth, but to have lived fully, to have done our best, to have faced each day and challenge along the way as best we can is not to regret life's passing...but to cherish the memory of those beautiful golden days. Our life is a book still written until the very last chapter. The trees in fall do not weep at the loss of their leaves, but remember the spring wonder of new buds and leaflets and life anew, then remembering their amazing autumnal brilliance in the fall and the blanket of fallen leaf-covering that warms the earth until another season begins. The caterpillar awakens from his cocoon, breaks forth to newness....flies in his new found freedom and short life and never regrets the change. The cycle continues....all life is change and we learn the beauty of each season. Some days may be challenging but we do our best to find a sense of grace and gratitude. I've never seen a butterfly cry! As Moosie has suggested...finding the simple and special little things in daily life is so sweet. Going out to eat, calling or visiting a friend, enjoying grand kiddos, gardening or just a nice nap and a delicious lunch treat! Keep up these wonderful videos and your positivity and fun craft ideas and fashion shows....(time for some ice cream...A Nivea Nana in Pa.)

I peel eggs the same…..love your dinner …yum. I experience these feelings every once in a while too. Skied Big Bear with kids when they were young, spent 7 different years for a week at a resort in Mexico with both kids & G’children . Went to Italy with my brother and his family…water skied with our boat at the Colorado river. We always had the best Xmas celebrations together! Im 85/and the realization that most of my life is behind me is at times a shock. I try not to dwell on it though because then you feel sad instead of knowing how fortunate I was. I think about people losing homes & family for many different circumstances and try to not focus on what I no longer have.

Hello Nanny. Let’s all be 40!! …Sometimes! Only for the energy and no wrinkles. Let’s anticipate in occasions - as Moosie says I like to
Have one thing a week!- it can be a holiday. A birthday, an appointment or we can create an adventure!! With a friend or ourselves. We’ve had the big house and closets and too much kitchen!! You create delicious suppers where ever you are. We still have wonderful times just on a different level. You always decorate your pretty mantle and it motivates me. Let’s start fall and treasure today . Hugs and much love. Accepting and being grateful.

Nanny, you and I both have led very busy lives centered on our children and husbands, travelled all over the world, and had many homes to enjoy and decorate. But, unlike you, my children were raised to be VERY independent; and, I'll be damned if they didn't grow up to be just that! My three all have great careers, but are all spread far and wide and rarely see their parents or their siblings. So I have developed a system of putting my memories of all the fun we had into mental "chapters in my book of life." When I pull out one of those chapters and reflect on those times with our kids, I feel grateful and satisfied that I had the good fortune to have those experiences that soooo many people don't. Then I put that chapter away on the shelf, so to speak, and go about my business of enjoying MYSELF❤

It's ok to be melancholy at times but you know what the best part is that all that you have done in your life
Just remember that you still have your metal state to be able to remember all those memories you could be in a state where you have no recall of the past at all

You peel boiled eggs the same as I do. It really works well that way. Your charcuterie board looks fantastic!! What a perfect meal for hot days. Having something to look forward to is definitely a blessing. It makes life more bearable. The things I look forward to now are much simpler than in the past. But they all involve family time. That's the biggest blessing of all ...family and friends to share life with. Thanks for your wise words. You and Moosie are the best...never boring, always sweet and kind. Love to you both. ❤❤

Hi from Annie, you look lovely in that boho top and the pig tails n straw hat. Nice to see you both chating in the garden that was good, it is nice to see Moosey as well in the videos. That super looks really delicious. Yes I go down memory lane all the time almost daily. It does feel sad all those years gone to where?? Wish we could bring back those good old times.... I am 66 and feel older at times the body seems to tell you what you can do at times but the trusting mind say hey I am younger and all that mental energy spins around and one gets excited etc then it meets the body and they have to have a little chat....to see what we actually can do. I am taking that same protein pwder you are it helps. . They only have it unflavoured at our chemist be nice in chocolate flavour? Cheers.

Well, Nanny, at age 70, I realize that life is about reinventing ourselves. And about goodbyes. Whatever the losses are, even the expected ones like kids going off on their own, it’s a loss. Something to which we have to say goodbye. And even the happy things can be sad. I tell myself. “It is what it is”. That’s furthered my acceptance of things beyond my control. Very little is within our control, and I for one have had a hard time letting go of all the things I really don’t have control over in the first place. Keep doing what you do. It’s a whole lot more than many can do as we get older. And we need you to set the example of what positive aging can be!

It's all about perspective. When my children went off & graduated from college, I was proud but as a sudden empty nester--I also had a profound sadness w/ such scattered family & that we would never be together again in the way we had been.
One day I suddenly remembered a lovely woman from my church, who I was helping with her son who had profound cerebral palsy. As I sat with her she shared her thoughts & told me tho she was immensely grateful for all the kindness & help given to her by the church families---the hardest things for her was knowing she would never get to see her son learn to drive a car, graduate from college or get married.
Remembering this made me take a step back & get some real perspective---she would have given literally everything she had to see her son graduate college and go off on his own--I just needed this little reminder to realize I was looking at all of this entirely w/ the wrong attitude & needed to give thanks & realize just how lucky I really was.
