Thank God you are not showing off those amazing vintage casios, some watch-ill person might take that kind of behaviour as insulting... On the B640 issue, when I was about to bought mine I disliked the paint of the case, and decided to go for the all black version, which has a black plastic case (not painted), but cames with the drawback of a PVD black stainless steel bracelet. So far, after 4 years of moderate use, the bracelet is holding off quite well, with just a couple of scratches Thanks for sharing
Thank you for this comment! Funny: after seeing what happens to the “metal Painted B640” I immediately begun to desire the version YOU have😂😂😂 You made the right choice!!!
@@scg9065 actually I’m waiting for it to lose more of its paint before embarking on the repainting journey. I’ll let you know when the paint fades. Thanks for this comment!
@@scg9065 You read my mind! I've seen many touch ups on G-shocks made with felt tip pens like Uni-Posca, and the silver flat pens are exactly what I was thinking about for touch ups on the B640! As you said, they seem to have the same matte look.
The black version (B640WB) has no paint or plating, the resin on that one is black all the way. It will never discolor, only polish up over time, hence lose the matte finish (matches better with the bracelet actually). No discoloration, no chrome chipping, just plain black resin. Best you can get besides SS.
Indeed the black version has been in my Amazon cart ever since I noticed the discoloring on the B640! I'm just waiting for a good excuse to buy it... Thanks for this comment!
Chrome plated resin is always a disaster. Sooner or later. 😔 As are NOS bezels for older G-Shocks. I wish Casio would have more original spares for their older generation watches.
Maybe there's some third party company making spares somewhere... I remember a YT channel about g-shocks (that does not exist anymore) in which in many videos there were vintage G-Shock bezels repros from a company based in Brazil... Thanks for this comment!!!
Hi! yes, there is an all-resin version, which I will HAVE TO buy sooner or later. It's the W 202 - 1 AVEF. All black, resin strap, resin case. Thanks for this comment!!!
So the keyboard player's watch was almost entirely white? I'm surprised you didn't say to him "You lucky guy - you bought some rare colorway I've never seen!" I'll have to check some of my metal painted F201 and F91s - never seen any wear like that.
Well, you gt me thinking... Or is it maybe that Casio makes a limited-edition "worn" B640 😂? The metal F91, as far as I have been able to notice from the pictures online, makes a "dull-matte" metal F-91, and a shinier one. Or so it seems... Can you let me know after you've checked, if yours is shiny or dull? Thanks for this comment, as always!!!
Hello there! The only solution I have found is to wear the watch seldom and wipe it with a microfibre cloth after every use. I'm sorry, because if it didn't have this problem, this watch would see a lot of wrist time! I have just added another "matte chrome resin" Casio to the family, and I'll see and document how the paint behaves on that one. It's the AE-100W, I did an unboxing video ( ua-cam.com/video/zZiaR9_hzIY/v-deo.html )and I'll make a full review. Thank you for your comment!

High polish chrome paint doesn't fare well either in the long run. I've seen really beat up examples on people's wrists and the white resin underneath shows us well. Those look particularly hideous. IMO the Casio WV-59 is the way to go. A thin stainless steel covering/bezel on top of a resin case.
@@tsarli5819 thanks! I didn’t know the Wv-59’had the thin steel covering, a bit like the mwd-110 series. That’s cool, I’ll consider it as a WIDN (watch I don’t need)! Thanks for this comment!!!

@ do you think those silver paint ink sharpie-like pens stuff would do the trick for light touch ups. They both of have that matte silver look.
