For added effect (on the 2nd vector sample) you can remove the outline of each puzzle shape (under the Format ribbon) then change Shape Effects to Bevel, the first bevel option. This, I find, gives the puzzle something of a 3D effect.
It might be interesting for you to do a tutorial on creating a template of individual puzzle pieces assembled into the basic format to use instead of trying to find one online. It takes a little work, but I was successful in making my own. Then I used triggers to remove pieces at random to create a little game with a photo behind the template.
Thank You! I am eager to try it, but it's 2:40 a.m. where I live and need to go to bed! This gives me hope! I am using Powerpoint 2011 for Mac and by watching you unless I missed something I have access to all the same menus that you had used. I tried many other options, but something seemed to be missing or I couldn't find it. One did work a bit, but this seems to be the best so far. I'll let you know in a few days if it worked or not.
I hope that slide background chooses the portion I want. If so, then I will get my desired effect. If not, then I will need to start all over again. Thanks.
@@DougHExcel Doug, You are a genius with pulling the pic from the background slide! I simply made 4 shapes and individually clicked "background from slide" of course I had to load in a pic of my choice and it knew where to go, piece by piece! I can now do any animation with those pieces. You don't know how many hours I had spent since Friday (today is Tuesday) watching tutorials downloading free software, trial software and whatnot. I think I lost my job trying to figure this out. LOL. Naw. Just spent every waking moment on it. LOL. I am using PP 2011 for Mac, so I had to tailor what you said because you are using a PC and a newer version of PP. I am really happy, because I don't use Office enough to justify a subscription cost! I really thought I wasn't able to create a puzzle because I needed to upgrade.....I even went to a website (Microsoft I think? that typed step by step directions but had some limitations. YOU ROCK! THANK YOU!

Doug H, Even simpler. Make your shapes whatever way you want. Select them all (don't need to group them) import pic from background. Pick breaks apart where they need to go and voila you have a Jigsaw Puzzle! I wonder if I could get a Jigsaw Puzzle template? Thanks
The video was great with easy to follow steps. However, my version of PPT does not have a "clip art" function and I cannot find an "illustration" four interlocking puzzle in a WMF file format on the internet. Any suggestions?
Ms. Bailey, were you able to find the puzzle pieces in WMF? I wasn't able to find the same or similar image that the UA-cam uses. The images I have found are "photos" and the pieces don't separate. Any luck or suggestions? I also looked on pixaby. Further I'm not sure I understanding "start with one puzzle piece and work out from there?" THANKS
Hey, I found this vdo very useful. I found a ppt template here: www.presentationmagazine.com/editable-jigsaw-pieces-template-7271.htm The ppt outlines an even more straightforward way to create "option 2". I hope this helps...
Many thanks for this Doug - just what I needed. However, I can't seem to get the 'slide background fill' to work. I've added a white box over the background photo image, and have a transparent jigsaw piece (the same as in your video) - but the 'slide background fill' doesn't work - it remains white. Any tips?
Hi, just wanted to know instead of adding a jigsaw clipart, is there an option to cut one image into 4 equal pieces and then use the same animations? Thank you.
Is there a way to capture an image of the individual puzzle pieces to scatter throughout the power point? When ever I copy the images they paste without the background?
You can find puzzle piece or a puzzle piece that is blank, make duplicates of it and paste around the slide. You can also rotate the image. If there is color in the puzzle (like in the background) you can remove it (see ua-cam.com/video/HG82lC5oCKI/v-deo.html)
Not sure I understand but you'd have to find different puzzle shapes and superimpose them on an image like in the second example to pull out the background image.
Well done! Simple, effective. Thank you!!!
Hi Ingrid Pyka, glad you liked it, thanks for commenting!

try using a vector image from pixaby.com. Start with one puzzle piece and work out from there. HTH

move the picture out of the slide and see if the white color follows to check if the transparency came through or not.
How to do 2nd example in mac?
Hi Hagar Nofal, thanks for the comment. Should be similar, just need to find the same command icons

John R , i figured this out a while ago...thanks for the followup

google is your friend :-)
keep on doing videos like this

Thanks a lot!
You're Welcome!
where can I find group images? i tried to search it, but I just can't find it.
sometimes it is difficult to find...try images.google.com and search for vector images. another good resource for images is pixabay.com
how do you get the puzzle pieces?
a google search for transparent puzzle pieces may help you out
how do we make the puzzle pieces separate shapes?
