My favorite verse, which you didn't cover here but I'm sure is an issue, was having campus maintenance come over to the shop last week (again!) and having to run a long cutter head cable through the drain on the paint sink from folks either not using enough water, not using soap, or pouring half-dried paints down the drain. Not to mention the thick layer of paint peeled out of the sink basins.
At least our paint sink has an interceptor to collect solids. We have to get it cleaned out by facilities folks every couple years. If we ever start doing plaster casting that will require some new training so ppl don’t throw THAT down the sink. Our sink is stainless steel and also gets some cleanup every few years. I like to use drop cloths in the shop because I don’t want the shop floor to become a paint drip mess. We don’t have a separate paint shop. One shared shop for wood work, metal work, and for painting.
