it tickles me the way vignola always looks like he could reading the newspaper when he's tearing it up like this. i've seen it in several videos on youtube check him out on tiger rag with ken peplowski. great post!!!!
Best part of this video is 2:19 - 2:35 when Joey D looks like he's more interested in having a staring contest with Frank Vignola than doing a solo...and of course, he's still shedding the organ in half at the same time! Great stuff!
exactly wot i say nothing is stealing its paying homage and respect none of these organs players steal they innovate wot has already been achieved sounding like some other musician just shows listening and appreciating others work and bringing the forward to present and keeping it alive!! so dude nothing in jazz is stealing!! and quick FYI id love to see you play like these giants coz i know iwould give anything to sound and be able to do this!!
SkumBanana yeah you can see him unwinding it after he lets the solo coast to a halt. fortunately a player like Joey can fill the space while he changes it :P
I envoy you Steelmanright. He wont come to my home town. If I could, I would invite him to come Great performers, Joey DeFranesco, Frank Vignola, and Joe Ascione

davidsjazz, take a look starting at 3:24 you get a good view of the feet, he is instinctively moving that left foot around but there's nothing there. the right foot is for volume control
The late Joe Ascione. You might be interested in this interview of Joe's from 2001 that was just recently posted: ua-cam.com/video/lZyfHceQXNQ/v-deo.html I not only lost my first private student but one of my best friends. Peace.

@drnubian And Larry Young originally stole from Jimmy Smith and then switched gears and developed a different sound by stealing from the modal playing of Coltrane's group. Everyone steals! What's your point? Even the very few "innovators" (also a relative term) that come along once in a blue moon are building on what came before them. So who are these great players of today that you would categorize as not stealing and being derivative?
GREAT PLAYING, drunbian is full of it. Everytime a great musician comes to the scene, another drunbian comes out of the wood work to criticise the musician. WTF?? But I'm not suprised, our world is 99% critic, and 1% musician. drunbian, if you thinl Joey is a theif, why the hell are you waisting time posting?? Must be true: ignorance is bliss!
Simply Splendid!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It takes some doing to stay so cool at this tempo. Wow! Bloody marvellous!
The best bass player : Mr. Left Joey DeFrancesco !!!!
