As a rabid fan of ST/TOS, I watched every, single episode when it first broadcast. It was like it was written for me, personally. The coolest science fiction in space I could ever hope for. Then, in 1979 in syndication in NYC (@ 6:00 pm) it became a smash/revival. God Bless Them All for brining this show to fruition :)
The last image of Scotty, Spock, Kirk, McCoy, Uhura and Chekov is one of the reasons "Star Trek" is so unique. When Nichelle Nichols passed away last year the local TV station ran episodes featuring Lt. Uhura. 'The original series' is so iconic that I totally overlook her wonderful beauty. During those episodes featuring Lt. Uhura, I realized how gorgeous Nichelle is. A perfect example is the episode "Mirror Mirror". Especially the scene when she had to distract security officer Lt. Sulu. Her task when she had to go to the bridge by her self. She questioned whether or not she would be able to do what needed to be done. Then drawing strength from Capt. Kirk's encouragement that only she could do the assignment. And Nichelle played that particular scene as a calculating and explosive officer of The Terran Empire. Uhura's portrayal of a 'scheming' Terran Empire officer is pure entertainment. How she drew Lt. Sulu's attention from his security console. After she accomplished that goal, that wicked backhand slap is indelibly etched into my memory. The Lt. Uhura/Nichelle Nichols character is so powerful. She doesn't have a fashion model's shape (skinny). Nichelle Nichols is 'thick'. When she is being transported to the planets surface; with the landing party, there is no mistaking the silhouette of her powerful thighs when she is materializing in the transporter beam.
Roddenberry was a frequent writer on Have Gun Will Travel and he wrote two episodes that revolved around a prison chaplain by the name of Robert April.
Star Trek is one of the greatest science fiction shows ever my favorite one has always been Star Trek the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine is amazing and of course the original series was awesome too.
I'm so happy this was picked up and syndication against the evening news - that was a smart move because many people don't watch the late news because they watched it at the 6 hour. I love my ST/TOS - bought the series on DVD and all the films that they made. Naturally, I watched ST:NG and DSN - just a great idea for Sci-Fi fans!
I remember watching 'Lost In Space' all the time, but for some reason 'Star Trek' never really appealed to me. I must've been around 11 or 12 when it originally aired. Certainly within the demographic. I had a good friend that was into it, but I just never got there.
Roddenberry, he had lost his job as a pilot also because of a heavy airpllane accident he later became accused to have created. 3:02 RODDENBERRY AND CBS Here Roddeberry had blundered. He did a beginners mistake not letting the people at CBS he was talking to signing a secrecy agreement. So his ideas he gave them became FREE SOURCE MATERIAL like the one for an ARTICHOKE LIKE SPEACE SHIP starting from an Underwaterbase on Erth, a seven man crew under the command of a dare devel Captain with high moralic standards and a supervising female Security Officer cold as ice but secretly in love with the Captain Later on Reodenberry had figured what he had done but it was to late. On the PLUS SIDE from a German Point of View this scource material became realitzed as a German, Italien,French, project that regrettably just lasted of seven filmed adventures as RAUMPATROUILLE - the Adventures of the ORION and it´s crew. I guess the death stroke came when American studios rejected to colloaborate on this European project because the show had been done in Black & White. UA-cam: Raumpatrouille Orion- Folge 3 Hüter des Gesetzes. put on the Net by M K Here on the German market the series was rather successfull it even got an own novelised version with farther adventures added to it.
As was the King, as where we all. Gene's dream was as crazy as Martin's Every every day we get a little closer but we re still about 120 years off. Closer than we would've ever been without those two great men.
It would be more honest to say, Gene described the show as 'Wagon Train to the stars', in order to trick producers into making the show. The fact that Gene, a Communist, was willing to lie to get his Socialist program (yes, the Federation is a Socialist society) on the air should not come as a surprise since we now know that Sen. Joseph McCarthy was 100% correct in his assertions that Communists were infiltrating every aspect of society and government thanks to the release of the KGB Verona files after the fall of the USSR. After the so-called 'Black List' came out (listing all the KNOWN Commies in Hollywood) the people on the list simply became liars. They used fake names to continue writing their Communist Propaganda.
Socialist society, the military, the post office, any public school or library, Do you want more social society. The fire department, the police force, any government paid individual including any and every politician. Stayed on the power stayed on water water stayed on sewer now where would we be without all this social is my friend.? Some say human flesh is tasty
Mr.Adams ,I remember an episode that some voice was supposed to be God and kirk told him that you must be evil because you created evil THAT bothered me as a child IT WAS PURE BLASPHEMY like Kirk old judge God.

Loved "HGWT". Boone was fantastic.
Actually Lucille Ball sold the whole Desilu operation-Star Trek and all-to the Gulf+Western conglomerate, which had acquired Paramount.
Excellent! Thank you!
Wonderful ground breaking show and I particularly enjoyed the cartoon spin off as well

It's like Star Trek vs. Star Wars for a lot of people. I LOVE Star Trek to bits, but I kinda dig Lost In Space too. It's all good.
I liked the sign at the end. Gas for .27/9 a gal. What the whattha?
Me, I also grew up with this show, when a ffirst selection of episodes had been started in September 1970 comming in on Frid

Kirk’s hairpiece really deteriorated in season 3.
