Hey look! It's Overwatch but Marvel! That seems pretty neat. One of Patrick's favorite things and former favorite things could be a fun combo! I want them to add Stiltman. Yes, he's real, look him up. He's an Avengers level threat. Anyways, here are Austin and Patrick's initial thoughts on the latest from Marvel Games, Marvel Rivals!

Overwatch was neglected for 3 years, lied about its pve, had scandal after scandal, stole womans breast milk, and they often buff stupid stuff that their community hates like orisa constantly gets buffed for no reason and torb too.
If any other game did this, they would have died a year into the 3 year content drought and that speaks volumes to the gameplay loops and format of overwatch, its probably the most addictive comp shooter gameplay loop but I dont tho I marvel rivals will succeed off the back of overwatch because it isnt overwatch, the same way apex isnt overwatch because if I had to name the one thing that makes overwatch, Overwatch, it would be the fact it took those stereotypical archetypes that are common in 3rd person shooters and they put it into a 1st person format, like how many games have had double jumping ninjas inna 3rd person action game or how many mmorpg are 3rd person or birds eye view with tanks and support? But overwatch succeeded because it let you play from the pov of the tank rather than watching the tank inact the things you tell them to, bascially overwatch is successful because it has a wide array of unique playstyles for anyone but also they let you feel like the hero rather than you're playing the hero and that's the biggest strength the game has going for it.
The same way people said valorant is an overwatch killer or clone but I said the fact they have many guns and overwatch has fixed playstyles, I knew it wouldnt even really touch the same core audiance because people like ow for the wacky kits having a fixed kit allows for, you cant have a unique dash hero when both the bulky hero and fast nimble hero both can use the same shotgun, this forces you have watered down abilities.
So is it really even comparable to overwatch if it's missing 4he core thing that makes it overwatch? Because I would argue it doesn't which is sad because overwatch could have used competitionn

Largely I agree with what you’re saying. However, this game so clearly took hero designs, abilities, and concepts from Overwatch and blatantly ripped them off. That is why were comparing it to Overwatch.
The most likely outcome to me is much like Valorant vs Counter-Strike. Neither kills off the other but they both coexist. These genres have such huge player bases that they can support multiple games.

@@ObRefOfficial I know, i get why people are comparing them, it's part of their marketing, but what I dont get is why they would intentionally copy aspects from overwatch and try the market strategy of palworld and pokemon but they dont even copy the core aspect of what makes overwatch, overwatch.
Because were so overdue for competition with overwatch and this ain't it, and I think the reason many feel overwatch has falling off is because they dont do anything massive anymore, because they killed their competitor years ago when battleborn shut its servers down lol but also I wanna see another companies take on the formula, and playing as the hulk in 1st person as a tank would be so fun 😂
