Jacob, I know where you're coming from. I've been spear fishing almost 50 years now and it never gets old or boring. Appreciate you watching! Best, Dan
Loving this channel! I'm a long time diver but a novice spear fisherman, is there any way to add more fish ID's when you're diving so I know what your shooting and or what NOT to shoot.
Shallow ledge...150' LOL I ran a head boat over on that coast but moved to the east coast. I wish I could go back to some of my old honey holes over...I didn't start spearfishing til I moved to south Florida. Great vids brother!
@@danmacmahon3973 That comment made you feel human otherwise your shooting is godlike. No bent spears, no floppers closing down, no lost spears. A single band braining the thickest grouper skulls! What magic is this. Being a free diver I felt quite negative when I watched the first video with scuba but after watching more I realised your videos are not ordinary stuff. Stay safe at those depths.
I def agree, I perfer the challenge of Gags and Blacks but Reds will def work! I've seen guys get the tar beat out of them on a bad shot 20 LB Red in a hole. More blood coming out of the diver than the fish! Thanks for watching Tom! Best, Dan
Thank goodness rockin Ronny Desantis opened red snapper 2 months in 2021… you can’t even see the grouper because of all the snapper. Looks like the species has repopulated quite well.
Hey Dan love the vids! There used to be a show on TV that was out of Hudson Florida. This is way better. Anyhow, do you ever see any lobster in the middle ground? I haven't seen any on your footage and I was just curious. Thanks
Dgator, thanks and glad you're enjoying the videos. Yes, there's a lot of Lobster on the MG. Because the average structure is so large, you really have to devote yourself to looking for them. I usually don't do that but will sometimes grab one when the right opportunity arises. Best, Dan
Here I am wishing I could get some grouper in my freezer and you killing more than I've seen in my life . I used to spearfish all the time but mostly in a river but some offshore but we all got rid of are boats so now I can't even go catch em with a pole 😠. I wish you was close to me I would buy some from you or trade ya for some flounder or hog meat lol . Good job man keep on get em.
Abou, absolutely, lots of great stuff in 50-70 feet. All require a boat, as those depths are 20-30 miles offshore in this area. Are you free divers or scuba? Best, Dan
I am an open water scuba diver and I love speargun fishing. Unfortunately I live in montreal Canada and I was planning to come to Miami Florida this summer
JM, it's a great place to put your flash light but was primarily designed to poke off bad attitude sharks when you might have all the shafts out of the gun. Best, Dan
CC, it's a mix, some known stuff and some new stuff. I love diving a new spot for the first time and suspect that most of us would feel that way. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
AG, oh yeah. I try not to but it def happens. In the video "Predator Ledge" I whiffed on a really nice Grouper...my buddies haven't let me forget it either! Best, Dan
You really should look up Freediving , not Spearfishing , for the videos you want to be watching . Those that freedive can only go down as far as they can hold their breath . Dan goes out 100 miles or more off-shore to gather fish . Dan had to get extra classes and more training before he could be allowed to fish in deeper waters . Dan uses a different type spear for this different type of spearfishing . It is dangerous going that deep and you can only be down a very short period of time . It is extremely difficult and takes a lot of skill to shoot a spear at a moving fish when you do not have a line attached to the spear . You can't just hit any old part of the fish and reel it in . If you don't hit it right it will run off with your spear .
Do a video on ur gun set up! I love watchin ur videos. I wish I could free shaft 20’ stone shots EVERYTIME like u. Impressive!
That's a great idea Drew, I'll def do that. Thanks for suggestion. Best, Dan
I would love that
As calm and collect u r during shooting fish it's freaking awesome I still get to excited when ever I shoot good fish
Jacob, I know where you're coming from. I've been spear fishing almost 50 years now and it never gets old or boring. Appreciate you watching! Best, Dan
Commercial Spearing on a Shallow Ledge.
what camera are you using for all this film? you seem very comfortable and not having on issue with it

Great video Dan, nice mangs , thanks again for sharing
RP, I'd gotten some comments that I never seemed to spear any Mango's so I thought I'd prove that I do. Glad you enjoyed. Best, Dan
i always enjoy watching all your vides, because this is also my favorite hobbies here in our province in phillippines
Thanks DV, much appreciated! Best to you over there on the other side of the world! Dan

FJSF, very glad you're enjoying the videos. Looking for new stuff and diving new stuff is half the fun in IMHO. Best, Dan
Heck of a fishy spot! Nice shooting as always, and thanks for commenting over that 'missed' shot. Nice to get some insight.
BB, yeah sometimes the screw ups seem to be more entertaining than the home runs. Thanks for watching. Best, Dan

love the vids. show us unloading the fish in the boat...Thanx!
SY, I def will with future dives. Glad you're enjoying the videos. Best, Dan
That looked like so much fun. I miss cuttin' loose on the reds like that.

CM, those things are pretty much everywhere! Def a success as a rebuilding project but I think they could open 'em up quite a bit more! Best, Dan
great video, thx for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Best, Dan
Thanks Dan 4 another amazing video .
Thanks AA, glad you enjoyed it! Best, Dan
Please tell us the general area each video is made in.
Could you let me know your approximate time limits for different depths. Deep stuff seems like a mere couple of minutes.
There’s calculators you can use to figure out bottom time based on depth, o2 % and length of decompression time

Hunt, I hear you. Man I love Flounder and haven't had it in years. If we were close, I'm sure we could work something out! Best, Dan
@@danmacmahon3973 where do you fish out of?
Wich rifle is it? Can you explain?video about it
Shin, it's a home made gun. I'm planning on doing a video on it in the future when time allows. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
Nice shooting.. What kind of gun is that?
GG, it's a home made gun. Based on an older Sea Hornet design with upgraded parts. Thanks for watching, Best, Dan
All those endangered Red Snapper. Must have been pretty shallow compared to your other dives. You had a long bottom time it seems
SC, yeah they're almost going extinct, lol! Yeah that spot is less than 100' so you def get some time down there! Best, Dan
Hi Dan. Can we find nice spot at 50 to 70 feet in Florida ?

What is purpose of small spike on front of gun, mounting light?

Dan MacMahon
Did you make it or was it a purchased part
Hi u already know the fishing spot or reading fishfinder thax

Thank you! Much appreciated! Best, Dan
that's not spearfishing if you are using a gas tank
no skills
And here I've been calling it spearfishing for almost 50 years. Best, Dan
Men_in_Life ok buddy let’s see you freedive 150’
Comical . This is skill defined. Mastery may be a better description.
The guy with the shortest stick always makes a stupid comment. Freaking troll lets see you do it with the grace and skill that Dans does it!
