You are missing one small element: Apple removed Hypervisor support from iPadOS at some point in version 16. So even if you can jailbreak your iPad, which you can up to iPadOS 17.0 but not later, you can run it with hypervisor only with an M1 with iPadOS 15 or early 16. That's what I do. I have a 16GB RAM M1 iPad on iPadOS 15.3 which runs Windows 11 as fast as my Mac Mini via Parallels. But as soon as I update it's gone. So no Apple Intelligence or even Stage Manager...

I'll give you example Rocket league that I play regularly, on my mac mini m2 pro on parallels I only get around 60 to 80fps, even after setting the ram and CPU threads higher in parallel but on heroic or crossover I get consistent 144fps ( my monitor limit ) . parallels is not worth it, its paid product with not enough benefits.
This reminds me of back in college when I bought a MacBook Pro to be my Windows laptop. I eventually ended up using Mac OS more than Windows, but I still used Windows a lot for programs that weren't available on Mac. That was back in the era of headlines such as " the best Windows laptop we tested, was a mac?" This was back in the early 2010s when they first got discrete graphics cards and boot camp support was amazing
Honestly those MacBook Pros are still my favorite computers I've ever owned. Nothing since has been able to match the combination of form factor, efficiency, and power. To say nothing of how smoothly Mac OS ran back then. In the era of it just works, when they actually made their devices feel almost magical

Having to write down the slot where your graphics card and audio cards were located, so you can tell each game where they are and what their settings were. Only to find a couple of games were incorrectly programmed, so you have to tell them your Soundblaster is in slot three, when it's actually in slot one and your graphics card is in slot one when it's really in slot two. Oh the joys of Windows 95.
@@jublywubly I actually went from DOS/WfW3.11 to NT4 and then Win2k only dual booting Win95/98 for some games like Sim Hospital. Don't remember slot numbers but maybe you are referring to the auto DMA/IRQ assigning in early plug'n'play.. Gaming on NT was rough work though :)

I replaced my 11" A14 iPad Air with a 13" M2 iPad Air. The only reason I upgraded was for the bigger screen size. While I'm sure the new one runs Geekbench faster, in real-life use, I really don't notice the difference.
Upgraded from iPad Pro A12Z (released 1 year before M1) to iPad Pro M4. The biggest noticeable difference is the screen. Everything else? Meh depends on what apps I use. Stick with your iPad Pro. If you upgrade, do it when your current one isn’t supported anymore with updates and/or if the hardware gives up.
Something you didn’t mention was hardware support. SE also lacks use of apple accessories, some networking and Bluetooth protocols, and USB devices. While the regular and hypervisor have this access and can make use of OTG adapters to access external mouse, keyboard, storage, docks, etc.

This video is missing a whole bunch of information. For example, last I checked, you can’t run UTMHV on. iOS/iPadOS 17.0.1+. Which means you’d have to have a device that hasn’t been updated in over a year, because of course Apple won’t let you roll back.

This is cool, but I'd still never get an iPad. Jailbreaking is a huge PITA compared to installing a custom ROM on an android device , and even if I manage to get s jailbreak (which probably requires me to connect it to a computer every time I reboot) then I basically have to say no to (security) updates. Not worth the trouble.
The connecting to a computer everytime you reboot, or every 7 days? is for side-loading, not jailbreaking. It is intended for developers to test their software before releasing it on the App Store.

Compilation is not just compiling from human-readable source code to a binary. Apparently you can compile anything into anything else. Compiling a binary for a platform into a binary for a different platform counts as "compilation". I was surprised when I was explained that, but there you go...

You also need to keep in mind the version of iOS you're using with UTM-HV, it has to be iOS 16.4 or less on M1 or iPhone 14 Pro

You can't run windows on winlator. It's using wine to make windows app work on Linux, which is what android is based on.
I remember being able to natively install android onto the og iphone and dualboot it with ios. it did not run well whatsoever 😅

Been using UTM on my Mac since I got my Mac. It’s crazy how smooth it works. It’s got some limitations but it works for a lot of things!!!!

Jailbreaking is a huge PITA compared to installing a custom ROM on an android device , and even if I manage to get s jailbreak (which probably requires me to connect it to a computer every time I reboot) then I basically have to say no to (security) updates. Not worth the trouble.
The connecting to a computer everytime you reboot, or every 7 days? is for side-loading, not jailbreaking. It is intended for developers to test their software before releasing it on the App Store.
@@katrinabryce most jailbreaks are "tethered" or "semi-tethered" and require you to connect to a computer after every reboot to activate the jailbreak. While "untethered" jailbreaks exist they are rare and usually avaliable only for older devices.

Compilation is not just compiling from human-readable source code to a binary. Apparently you can compile anything into anything else. Compiling a binary for a platform into a binary for a different platform counts as "compilation". I was surprised when I was explained that, but there you go...

Heavy limitations? The only limitation there currently is are no USB-C displays, aside from that it even has better GPU drivers than macOS itself
@commander3494 Things that dont work: Thunderbolt, GPU (on M3), video decoder (M3), video encoder (M3), the M3 in general (it kinda does but doesn't), brightness control, audio control, and several other basic features.

Unfortunately, it doesn't support any current versions of iOS. It only supports up to iOS 13 without Jailbreaking, and nothing past iOS 14.
