I personally prefer the look of silver without dipping, dipping it makes it look darker. I much prefer having to polish it and keeping that natural silver look
Whenever I order silver and it comes rhodium dipped I always get worried I’ve been ripped off cuz it looks so close to stainless and nothing like actual silver 🤣
Rhodium plated is my favourite. Not only is there no maintenance of sterling silver but I also like the colour and look better!! Thanks for another great video!!
I have a 10mm 24” rhodium dipped chain and a 10mm 7.5” rhodium dipped bracelet both from GVJ. They’re absolutely worth it 👌🏻 Gus is the real deal. And his customer service, craftsmanship, and timeliness are second to none.

Awesome Video Gus. I have another Q&A… Playing off the Rhodium dipping question. Whats the difference between Rhodium Dip vs Palladium Dip vs White Gold Plating Silver?
Ok.. so I’m thinking about getting a 10mm 24” silver cuban… I’ve been shopping. Because I shop the shit out of everything… I will probably wear this chain a lot .. the difference between the Rhodium and non Rhodium is $300 extra .. so if I go non Rhodium and use a ultrasonic cleaner.. I should be able to clean the chain whenever it gets dirty without damaging it… right?! I only have one chain ( figaro link 14k 22”) that I have had since I was 16 and never comes off. But I have always wanted a cuban. Thanks for any advice you have. I really want a 8mm 14k 22” ( but can’t afford that right now) maybe someday 🤷♂️ The main reason I am looking at buying from you is because you are “local “ ( I live in central Florida) and you have hand made products chains.
Aluminum foil, very hot water, salt, baking soda... Look it up on UA-cam or Google it works wonders on cleaning gold and silver. For copper coins use aluminum foil and white vinegar
no, get the chemicals ignore that guy. get wrights silver cream, you can remove tarnish and polish it at the same time. best of both worlds. make sure you get the round one, it comes with a nice little magic eraser. trust me bro, this is the way to go, been polishing jewelry for over 20 years. tarn-x is great for quickie, takes seconds if your piece is still fairly new. but it doesn't really polish it like wrights. i only use tarn-x for high tarnished pieces. tarn-x is NOT good for you bro, wrights silver cream is fairly mild.
Im from germany and i have a friend and he is a goldsmith so i requested if he can make me a 10mm 21,5cm 925 silver cubanlink bracelet whit an boxlock. After two years now i have startet to wear only whitegold so the color of the bracelet wouldnt look so nice in combo with my whitegold chain and rings and i decidet so rhodium plating it at a very well known jewelery shop in my town. It cost me around 85€ to dip it and i dont regret it because it looks now exactly like my whitegold chain and rings.
It wears off easily. Its makes it look like stainless steel. It's expensive. It's a total no for the rhodium plating. Only rhodium plate if you are gonna to have it locked away for ever and never wear it 😂
Gus is informative, but he forgot one of the biggest cons, Rhodium can last you anywhere from 3 months to a year before it needs to be replaced. That's a "convenient" con he forgot about, and shouldn't he mention this? Or he is trying to sell more expensive jewelry? This alone makes me like him a little bit less here. And like you said, it literally looks like stainless, sterling silver is so beautiful, leave it alone people! You can remove tarnish easily with wrights silver cream and polish it at the same time in less than one minute. If you see black/brown spots on your silver, a lot of people get all upset and think tarnish is ever-lasting, it's easily removable, that is a beautiful thing for me to see.

"It resembles white gold" because white gold is plated in rhodium too. Duh? Rhodium plating looks like stainless steel. No reason to plate silver in it. Gus promotes it because he wants to make more money.
To be fair lots of people are weird and wanna rock stuff that looks like white gold for cheap. Natural silver does look better tho, tarnished black or polished. I always question if I got ripped off with steel if I order a silver piece and it comes plated
I disagree, Rhodium outshines stainless steel, there not even comparable for people who are really into this stuff. Like...at all. I still agree natural silver is the better way to go, you can easily remove the tarnish. And yes it does look somewhat like steel color-wise, but not the way it shines, a rhodium piece can be extremely beautiful and sparkle a way natural silver can not.
@@vision821k4 They are very comparable to people with proper vision. Sorry, your elitist-slanted reply is gonna get you nowhere. Rhodium factually does not shine brighter than silver as silver reflects more light. Do more research. Stainless steel when also mirror polished is at best only 4% less light reflected. Something you're unlikely to even perceive unless under specific lighting conditions and side by side. Given a 74% figure for rhodium, it is just factually far duller than silver which reflects 95-99% of visible light. Silver is, in fact, the shiniest metal (and unless you want to tone down the bright shine, plating it is objectively bad).
@@matthewdavis9437 Wrong. Rhodium has a reflectivity of 70 percent, sterling silver has a 40 percent reflectivity. Where did this 95-99 percent claim come from? Evidence? Can you take rhodium dipped jewelry swimming in the ocean and in pools?
Is there a way to know whether or not you have true Rhodium on your chain and not to the "fake" rhodium?
How about .999 Silver? Sorry I’m new to this, do they Tarnish? Again idk I’m new to chains lol

Why do some people say rhodium plating burns silver?
Because it does. You need nickel substrate first
Is yellow gold electro dip to look rose gold worth it ?
Plate it with nickel costs $5 and it will not tarnish and it's scratch resistant.
