  • The day has come, I'm switching to a new camera and lenses. With that said - I could not list these lenses and the camera on eBay before posting a video describing my impressions. Consider this a very amateur review of the following equipment (10):
    Nikon D5600
    Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 10-20mm f/4.5-5.6G VR Lens
    Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens
    Nikon AF-S VR Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G IF-ED Lens
    Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR Lens

    Amazing video!! :) I'm saving up for a D5600 as my first DSLR. I appreciated this, thank you again and I hope your channel grows!

      I loved that camera. And with the new round of releases by Sony and Canon I suspect the prices will drop more, and you should also expect even more advanced models lowering into your price range. Let me know if you have any questions, always happy to chat!

    Wow I was scrolling trough the comments of this video when I realized there's only a few and you're not a big youtuber. I was shocked! I expected the video to have hundreds of thousands of views! I'm subscribing!
    But in regards to the lenses, so which one would you say is best for portrait photography? And which one for overall photography? And which one for both? Regardless of price or anything, it's just that I'm a beginner and I don't know if you use different lenses for different uses or if there are lenses that cover all the uses or what, and everyone says D5600 is a good camera for beginners that can make nearly professional photos so I'm thinking of the rest of the equipment as well

      Thank you so much! Your words mean a lot.
      The 50mm lens is an awesome choice to start with. I like it for both portrait and regular photography. Something like a landscape would be a bit rough for that little guy. But if you’re into street photography, starting to learn portrait or in general want to practice and learn your style first - got with 50mm.
      Bonuses - it’s not that expensive and has beautiful shallow depth of field so your photos at the widest apertures will look stunning!

    Did you mean 18-55 for the honorable mention Kit lens? I don't know about any kit lens that is 18-35mm. If so, I agree the 18-55 kit lens with VR is an amazing lens in general but especially the newest 18-55 AF-P VR II lens that came with my Nikon D5600. That kit lens is actually good enough that I wouldn't consider it just a free kit lens. That newest 18-55 is actually just as good as some MUCH MORE expensive lenses I have. Even extended all the way to 55mm with the f5.6 max aperture the image stays sharp, which a lot of more expenses zoom lenses can't do (stay sharp at max zoom). Any review I saw from photo experts who actually know their shit agree that it's a really good zoom lens.
    Great video! I actually clicked on it because this is the exact set up I have been using the past couple years I had the 35mm 1.8, mostly because it was only like $120, but also because it was a good walking around lens AND I didn't have the 10-20 until very recently because it was more expensive. I agree with you that the 10-20, 50mm, 70-300mm are all you need to shoot basically anything. There may be better lenses but those are good budget lenses that cover every area you need to be covered.
    If you are buying photo gear for your new camera listen to this video!!! It will save you A LOT of money.

      First of all - yes, you are correct! I misspoke when I mentioned the lens kit.
      Second - I don’t like the UA-cam comment system - it blocked your response and I just saw it and had to unblock it manually.
      That set up was amazing to learn with. People reasonably strive to get the best of the best equipment, but without knowing your style and what would work for you - it’s much better to start with a jack of all trades set up. Then, once you learn - you can expand. And the set up we both described is perfect for that!
      Thank you for a very thoughtful comment and great feedback.

      Glad to hear. There is a lot of great content on UA-cam but first and foremost - make videos. As you make more videos you’ll figure out your style and that will guide what kind of camera gear you need.

    I’m using NikonD5600 and I need a good lens for background portrait for my indoor videos, please which portrait lens would you recommend for me

    • @TohirT
      @TohirT  4 роки тому +1

      I’d start with 50mm 1.8. It’s relatively cheap lens, great bokeh effect and will be both solid for your portrait photos and b-roll videos

    • @jenniferoge
      @jenniferoge 4 роки тому

      TohirT Thanks a lot, so it’s better than the 35mm 1.8G ? Because I’ve seen so many reviews on it (35mm 1.8) here on UA-cam but the reviews are like past 2years and on, so I don’t know between it and the 50mm you recommend for me which is much better

      @@mudhakkirabdulhamid4821 I got the 50mm 1.8 as he referred and so far I love the portrait effect it gives to my videos , You can check my channel....the only reason I will get another lens is cuz this particular one is not a zoom lens and I need one with portrait also...

    I own D5500, I'm family and even photographer, this mean i shoot 60% of time photo and the rest video always. The video autofocus is rubbish, the lens are noisy too, it can ruine your videos. I endup using my mobile phone for videos and Nikon for photos. also do not buy the kit lens 18-140mm it so heavy to carry around during trip and so big, and most of the time you will be shooting around 18 to 35mm focal length.
    Guys, if you are looking to buy your fist DSLR DO NOT BUY NIKON, go for Canon they are great photo shooters and video. Canon have now M50 a great camera for photos and video, simply check the web before you spend your money in Nikon. If you are not canon then you can get any mirrorless camera and you will be happy.
    DO NOT BUY NIKON to film videos or to vlog !!!!!!!!!! do not believe the youtube channels who saying it is ok, no it is not ok for vlogging.

    • @TohirT
      @TohirT  4 роки тому

      Thank you for sharing your take on this. 100% with you on the autofocus. After experiencing Sony and Cannon autofocus - Nikon has a lot left to be desired.
      For the rest of the comment - I think it highly depends on the use case and definition of your content. Vlog shot on Sony A6500 works for some, others want R5 now...I believe you start with the equipment you can afford -> learn through what worked for you vs what you struggled with and you then pick the more expensive equipment.
