I have a defender CC, i did my own in house test and nothing killed it. The only thing that messed it up was heat. I racked it on the table, on rock, on the back of my boot, i through it, through it in a bucket of water, mud, sand and the bastard didn't die, but a little bit of heat and then it messed up. I called vortex and within two weeks i got a new one, im sold. I put it in my p365XL and its not coming off, nice optic, good price and durable in moderate heat, not extreme heat though.
I haven’t had the issue with heat on the CCW but that’s good to know. They do have a Gen 2 of the CCW now. We returned this dot for the video to vortex and had a new one in one week exactly including shipping both way. The current one is a tank and love it.
I’m a fan of Vortex and glad they are bringing out newer pistol dots.I like the design and feature set.I think it held up well all things considered. The strikes on the barricade is a lot of shock for a small electronic device.
I love my Vortex scopes. The one old school last gen red dot I had from them was just okay. There scopes though, wow...and priced so great for such high quality
Awesome video man! I was super surprised to see it deviate from -0- after racking the slide . And the fact you couldn't get it back to -0- leads me to believe there was some type of physical break. I thought it would at least be able to handle what the ccw defender can. I have the CCW Defender and thats definitely one of if not the most durable red dot out there . Besides the ridiculous Cylee Bull XPro lol
We were very surprised as we did the same with the Defender CCW. After this video we took the 6MOA model off the shotgun and onto the 320. Did the same thing with it and no issues whatsoever! So that’s a huge plus. The 3 MOA model is at vortex now for replacement or repair and should have it back this week. I think ours failing was an anomaly to be honest but nonetheless it happened!
@@HuntFishShootChannel aaahhh that's making more sense. You thinking some type of manufacture defect or something internal being out of spec that caused the first one to fail?
Yeah possibly, it’s at Vortex now and their product development team is looking it over because it hasn’t happened in their recent testing and they want to be sure it wasn’t a batch issue or if it was just an anomaly! Either way they are being awesome about it and getting me taken care of!
I remember humble marksman or hop having an issue where it would disappear at the bottom of the window (worse if you cranked the elevation). Hopefully not still an issue?
Great video. I was curious about this optic. At least the Vortex warranty is top notch. I was able to simply take a Vortex UH1 back to the place I bought it, and they just handed me a new one and sent the old one back for me. That could just be a Fin Feather Fur Outfitters thing they do as a courtesy, but Vortex definitely backs their products.
They 100 percent do! The optic in this video which lost zero is at vortex right now for repair/replacement. I have owned many different brands and have had issues with almost all of them. Vortex is by far the best when it comes to customer service and satisfaction
This has been a great review. I have been impressed by the improvements of this optic over the Defender CCW. However, your failure happened three months ago and I know that Vortex usually fixes things in a couple of weeks at most. If you have received a repaired or new optic, I would love to see an update and final review of this optic.
Did get it fixed! The new one is perfect, we bought two more after this one and love them. Also the new defender CCW has an improved emitter, battery life and auto shutoff after 10 min of no activity
@@HuntFishShootChannel Good to hear. Did you test the fixed unit like the original review? Will there be a follow up video with the results after getting it repaired? Thank you for your reviews. They have been informative and I know I a, not the only one that appreciates them.
@Hunt Fish Shoot Good shit...love the fact you showed the optic failing. Your test was not too hard on the optic, we've all seen Cowan's RMR videos where he's punished those optics and they're GTG. It could be a one off failure and I'd love to see you do the exact same test on the new optic. I've already read comments from the Vortex nut huggers screaming from the hill tops about how much better this optic is..years of testing...😂 I guess we'll have to wait and see, though I'm not gonna hold my breath.
I do feel like this was a one off but happy to show the results as they happened! I have three of these optics now with no issues and they have been perfect! I do recommend them now but was apprehensive at first!
I’m ordering the XL version for my Sig Sauer P320 legion X5. I’m also thinking on the Holosun 507 Comp. What are your thoughts on that one? Great video as always!
It’s a DPP footprint and definitely one of the best options with that footprint, yet has a low deck height like an RMR with a big window like other DPP optics. The glass, dot, battery loading, battery size and looks are all better than the Holosun. We had an issue with this optic but with two others and a replacement, they have all been great.
What I can tell you is I now own about 6 of these and they have all been great without issue. They have become one of my favorites and after this fluke was replaced by vortex, I tried to break it and couldn’t.
@Matthewdennis1 I pretty much always use a weapon light. If it’s a defensive pistol, it gets a weapon light. The benefits far outweigh any reasons not to.
Nothing but bad experiences with me. The red dot keeps disappearing while shooting. I have to manually turn it on by pressing the button. Even then it still won’t turn on. Next step will be replacing the battery. Regardless it’s a new unit with a new battery
The delta point pro footprint is very popular and used by 320s and many competitive pistols have the footprint also. There is no issue with a top load battery when they have low deck height with this one!
@@HuntFishShootChanneli sent mine back Ive had both Venom.and this scratch easily tired of Vortex sending lemons....Venom wouldnt zero next scratched ....Vioer has been fine but discontinued....done w Vortex going Eotech Holosun or anytjing but

just got another new Defender CCW today.. They are already now shipping with the new 10 minute auto shut off.
Yes they are!
Is there any way to tell if it’s 10 minute shut off, Besides waiting to see if it shuts off? Just got one a couple weeks ago
@@jose21932007 the box it comes in say 10 minute auto shut off in the description.
@jose21932007 the versions out now are all produced like that
Looks very nice. I still would love to see a head to head test between the Holoson 507c, rmr, and the defender st.
That’s a great idea!

Vortex Micro Red Dots will always be their Achilles heel. Their scopes however are excellent value.
They are much better and this thing is really good, I feel like ours was an anomaly. But we shall see!
Can you still see the iron sights mounted on the Mr920p?
Yes you can!

How was the warranty process after sending it back to Vortex?
Perfect, had it back I less than a week! It’s been great since and I own 5 others now, they have been flawless
Im very excited to see if/when they release a closed emitter pistol red dot , when they do im definitely buying one for my Echelon!
I’m sure they are working one! I agree with you! I’ll buy a pile of them 😂
Do you use this dot still and if you do how is it doing?
I sure do and as a channel we have bought 8 of them. I love them.

So, was the torque backed off? Ive done the same test and didn not have any zero shift.
Was the torque backed off?
Not sure what you mean but this optic was replaced by vortex. The other 5 I have have been great!
@@HuntFishShootChannel I guess I meant to ask if the screws were loose when you checked them after it lost zero
@danielweissenborn3508 no they were not.
Will that red dot work will it work on mr920p?

Did they fix the refresh rate from the smaller one? Everyone I’ve seen has had a terrible refresh rate
Yes they have and we only saw that issue with the 3 MOA Defender CCW not the 6 MOA. The ST series doesn’t have that issue with either of them!
There is no refresh rate. The LED is constantly on.

Honesty is what our viewers expect! Unfortunate it happened but we shall see how the follow up goes!
Vortex is like SIG: use purchasers as R&D.
They’re better bc of the warranty.
They’re building their coffers.
Sig definitely does that with their guns but so does many other companies
Does the box says what country its made in?
It is made in China
Do you prefer a single dot or a dot with a circle?
Always the plain circle dot!
@@HuntFishShootChannel that’s the one that doesn’t have the circle around it?
Correct. Just a single dot, no halo.

Delta point pro footprint what why would they do that and why would they make a top mounted battery why wouldn't they just do a side mounted ?
