Gordon never made a bad song. Everything had thought and craftsmanship. He will be missed.

"Now and Then" is probably my favorite Lightfoot song. The forlorn poetry woven so intricately with the melancholic chart is nothing short of art.
I find myself singing this song a lot.

Lightfoot was a perfectionist, but I think to a fault. Early-morning music publishing would not allow bootlegs to get out. Since his death, I've seen all kinds of Gordon Lightfoot live concert uploads. I love him, but he's a strange bird. One time, in the green room after a show in 2001. I was in the back and we were the only two in the room. And you know what he asked me? This is what he asked,
"Do you use a capo for Canadian railroad Trilogy?"
      I replied, " uh, yeah".
He said " that's good cuz the sheet music has it in F"
      I said, " ahh, yeah"

Seriously. He was a great guy to be around. I got to chill and drink with Terry Clements as well. My lead gtr player and I performed "Long Thin Dawn" for him in the parking lot after closing time. I was on cloud nine!

Terry plays w/ a pick only, no fingers (even on "If You Could Read My Mind, he uses a pick throughout! Crazy huh?). It's too bad he didn't let Red Shea play his original arrangement of Don Quixote. We don't have a live version of Red performing it as we hear in on the original LP. I posted a UA-cam video tutorial for it. I heard he played it (and "Ode to Big Blue",) just once, at the Royal Albert Hall and that it's been bootlegged; but, I've never been able to track down a copy. Anyone here have it?

@@Telecoaster94music thank you, i will check her out, im trying to figure out how close to the original this recording is, the sound quality is too good to have been done with a cassette recorder of the time, and the tape noise is so low that it couldnt be too many generations of copy from the original. the quality of the recording suggest that its an original, but i dont see how anyone could pull off recording a bootleg with a 7 in reel to reel deck. whatever the case the person that recorded it went to the expense of recording it with high quality tape
