I just applied the 5 year coating to a client's car for the 1st time. That was the easiest coating ive ever applied. At the end of a long day polishing. Having a simple and durable coating is key for me. I cant wait to try the c6 soon!

I just used APP on the DIY stack and it works perfect. I let it sit on the vehicle overnight, wheels, plastics and glass. The buff off was very easy and the paint was perfectly clean. I prefer this method way more than using a panel prep, I find the paint was cleaner and it gave me more confidence that it was ready for the coating.

@@diydetailofficialbut Hydro Lite isn't as strong. If a beginner consumer can buy a polisher from you that can burn the paint off their car, why can't they buy your best coating? As long as they understand that high spots are a risk and that they are the only ones responsible for them, why not sell it to them?

Even if the new coatings are too expensive to justify in my business, I am really looking forward to the APP! My least favorite part of the coating process is the panel prep. It feels so redundant and tedious, I despise it really. If I can simply perform a light machine polish on the entire vehicle with the APP and go straight to coating that would be amazing. So at the very least I will be combining the APP with the DIY Detail coatings ASAP.

Hey Yvan, I've heard that C6 Diamond Gloss is a tougher/more chemically resistant coating with better self cleaning attributes and Gloss (as the name suggests) than C6 Hydro and basically just loses a bit of hydrophobics and possibly a touch less slickness. Is there any truth to that?
If it is true, for someone wanting to go all out and could an installer put a layer of Diamond Gloss on, wait 2-8 hours and put C6 Hydro or even C6 Hydro Lite on? Or does this just have diminishing returns installing 2 lifetime coatings?
Also, since the metal coatings have a longer acting solvent/carrier to allow the coating to penetrate deeper into the metal, can one of the C6 coatings be stacked on it 4 to 12 hours later? I know you've told me in the past that you can do the metal coating and stack it with the DIY Detail 3 year after 4-12 hours to get a bit more performance and water spot resistance out of it. Since the refined detonated nano diamonds are superior in regards to fracturing (when combined with Silicon Nitrate) and waterspot resistance compared to graphene oxide, I'm just wondering if that is a viable option that someone could specify. Thank you!

    • @diydetailofficial
      @diydetailofficial  3 місяці тому +1

C6 Ceramics Diamond Gloss is glossier, C6 Ceramics Hydro has better self cleaning properties, both have the same chemical resistance.
Stacking them is a waste of time and product.
Yes C6 Ceramics coatings can be used over DIY Detail metal coating.

I'm pretty sure you guys are using the Tool Shop 2.0-Amp Corded 5" Random Orbit Sander (Model Number: OSD117 Menards SKU: 2419943) - gotta love the red and black ;-> and the $20 price. I see it specs at 12,000 OPM. After comparing specs from BUNCHES of sanders, I am thinking of springing for the $60 Masterforce 3.2-Amp Corded 5"/6" Random Orbit Sander (Model Number: PES400GHU Menards SKU: 2410802). It has the variable speed setting that lets it go down to 4,000 OPM. I am thinking this might accomplish two goals - "lowest speed setting" and a bit of noise reduction.
I really like using the red jeweling pad to add gloss, but I just don't have the experience to make it happen with a rotary. I think having the 3mm throw and lighter polisher instead of a 7 lb Milwaukee with a 15mm throw should give me the results I'm craving. As Yvan mentioned in the video, I would plan on using the 15mm Milwaukee with GSP on a yellow waffle, wipe off, then follow up with 3mm Masterforce with APP on the red jeweling pad as the prep for the ceramic coating of choice. I've only installed the "difficult" 5 year coating and absolutely LOVED the experience and results!

Yvan looking like a proper Canadian with the hat on in the intro 😅First of all I hope C6 rocks like DIY, it looks like it's very well thought through. Even though I totally followed what you said and I don't understand how a coating can be "less" resistant to chemicals so another one will be "more" resistant. Is it about what you talked about the bonding of the molecules of the coating and how they are still on the surface but not "connected"? Assuming that, would the 3year graphene coating (also assuming 100% proper prepping and application) be equally chemically resistant if you for example wash the car every week and spray quick beads? I do understand what I just described isn't the average car owner and that most people won't wash their cars weekly.

Not at all. This business move should help ensure that DIY Detail grows stronger and can keep supporting DIYers. Branching out to service Industial, Marine, and professional detailers is going to be a smaller subset of their offerings. Like Yvan points out, the technology from higher end (higher priced due to more advanced technology) will trickle down. It was very strange to watch Yvan NOT head to a pad washer in the C6 coating video. Being able to "pivot" and being on the forefront of technology will keep DIY Detail healthy. Yvan's track record of 40 years of helping and coaching is evident and I don't think you could change that. I believe that is a big part of why Yvan and Nick and their team are developing a successful business. The genuine care for their products, fellow detailers, and noobs shows through.

@@gseybold i don’t have a business and though I have been detailing for 40 years I can’t buy the product. It’s bull shit and they are kissing up to the business owner selling them the product. If it’s sooo technical as far as diamond and the other, that you put on just like any other ceramic do a disclaimer on the product. I can understand the spray industrial stuff…

@tony8354586 The reason why companies do that is so that weekend warriors or inexperienced detailers don't screw it up and blame the company. You're probably fine since you said you've been doing it for many years, but DIY isn't the only brand to do this. They stated the risk of highspots on their new coatings and due to that factor alone, I could see why they would only want professional detailers using it. I guess you could call it a preventative damage control

@@tony8354586you could say the same for all the pro grade coatings. I dont have access to many of them because i dont want to pay money to be accredited to use them. We've got all got access to DIY Detail coatings. They are more than sufficient for the vast majority of consumers.

I’m not saying your coating can or can’t last a “lifetime”, but translating that to customers does across as snake oil, which is tough. Also Nick saying haters doesn’t come across well as you’re trying to change minds. Call them skeptics when you’re introducing something new.

I've never been a certified installer for any brand of ceramic coating so I do not know how that partnership works or what to expect. I would assume that professional only coating options cost the entrepreneurs LESS than the DIY end user marketed coatings as it only makes sense. I look forward to seeing how this plays out with C6 Ceramics. I already use the DIY Detail coatings to run my business. They're expensive. They're high quality. I've never enjoyed applying a coating as much as with the DIY Detail range. Although I haven't tried many of the most popular and highly respected coating brands out there. DIY Detail coatings cost more than double what most of the other top brands do. It makes sense because they're advertised to the DIY person. They are only buying one bottle for the next 3+ years. You have to capitalize on that with higher prices.
If these new permanent coatings cost more than the DIY Detail 8 year does, I see them as being useless to the audience of entrepreneurs they're being marketed toward. I will be purchasing hundreds of these coatings and so the need to capitalize on me is much less than the one off DIY buyers. Think of it as a subscription based service. You spend much less at once, but more frequently creating a guaranteed income stream. I already choose to spend 100% more on product by opting for DIY Detail. I don't want to spend 150% more on product, I'm trying to run a business. Marketing a permanent coating to customers will be niche enough as it is considering most people do not own or lease a vehicle for more than a few years. The people who do are like most other people and aren't thinking 8-10 years down the road so the 3 or 5 year coating is what they choose anyway. If I then need to charge even more money to this already small niche of potential clients then that would render these illogical to even consider as a business owner.
Once we start getting accepted as installers and we get pricing it will be interesting to see what I would need to charge clients to apply this coating and if it will ever generate a single sale. I remain optimistic as Yvan has never lead me astray, but I have concerns!

What's the major difference between C6 Diamond and C6 Hydro lite ? What's the major difference between C6 Hydro lite and the stack (8 + 3) ? Can Hydro lite be applied over a PPF ?

I apologize for my long comment/feedback in advance but I am very disappointed to hear this news, and just want to let you know what many others out there like myself are think about “pro only coatings”.
Call it what you want but at the end of the day it’s just “gatekeeping” a ceramic coating to the average diy consumer. Unfortunately I have chosen with many others to stop supporting companies that do this business practice by not offering certain products to everyone.
Find it ironic that your company name has “diy” in its name but sounds like you’re releasing a product that cannot be bought by a “diy” individual.
Not trying to disrespect your business but I truly liked that you guys release your 3,5,8 year ceramics to everyone! It was such a breath of fresh air that a company releasing its entire ceramic coating line up to everyone/anyone. Iam tired of the detail business trying to be “exclusive” or “vetting” your business to see if you’re “worthy” or “good” enough to use certain products.
As others have mentioned why can’t you make the average consumer just sign a waiver if they choose to purchase a “pro coating” and make them acknowledge the risk in using the product? Not everyone wants to buy a “lite” version of a product knowing that there is a better/longer lasting version. You mentioned palm sanders in your video, as far as iam aware of I don’t know a single palm sander that an average person can’t purchase. If you want get purchase a cheap $10 sander or spend $100s of dollars on “professional” version of palm sanders used in body shops or professionally.
I wish you all the best in the new lineup but unfortunately will not be participating in the future.

Thank you for your concern. A large portion of our business at DIY Detail is professional detailers. Yes C6 Ceramics is a sister company to DIY Detail, but not the same company. The only cross over is Yvan, both companies have different staffs, and goals. Yes we will be offering C6 Ceramics Hydro Lite through DIY Detail for those who want C6 Ceramics . The difference is in the carrier solvents ( slower curing time) not the performance.
