They have both said, “it was luck that our then 20 years of friendship ‘translated’ into believable onscreen romantic chemistry.” And she still, 41 years after his death, refers to Bill Holden as “my soulmate.” And, all due respect, unless you have seen *every* on-screen pairing, you can’t make that statement.

I loved them in The Hart To Hart Seasons & Episodes, & always thought they were so perfectly matched that they would one day be married in real life but not the case as Robert was married to Natalie Woods at the time, then she died in the yacht accident, & Stefanie was living with William Holden at the time but that busted up because of him being an alcoholic, then he slipped & fell one night & died, since then she decided to be on her own for good. Robert eventually married Jill St John & is still married to her. When Jill St John was younger she reminds me of Stefanie in looks hmm. Stefanie now is 81yrs old...Robert 93yrs old & his wife Jill St John is 82yrs old. They still get together Stefanie flies over to see Robert & Robert flies over to see Stefanie, good thing that Jill is a good friend with Stefanie & not jealous. So there you go folks a little bit of news for some.
Love both of them they would of been a great pair in real life but they are still very close in real life and I love both of them. Robert and Stephanie. Always in love.
