- Running through the features and functions of The Wave Transformer from Earthquaker Devices. This is an analog VCO eurorack module from the famous guitar pedal company based in my hometown Akron, OH. It has a ton of cool features, especially for the price. You can even use it to add harmonics to a waveform from an external source.
I have the Taiga and I can attest that wave folding with 'pulse width' modulation across any sound source is :brutal: and :awesome: This transformer sounds great in your review. Let's agree on one thing: We are musicians and not engineers; if we like it it is awesome. Thank you myDude.
Thank you for posting the video! I appreciate the coverage. You made some really cool sounds. I especially loved when you patched it with the Acronym! One of my favorite patches is to patch the complex out into the expo fm input and listen to the saw output. Then play with the transform knob, expo fm attenuator, sub octave switches and mute switch. There is a wide range of gritty textures that can be achieved. So fun!

Pulse width going through 0 and turning silent can be really useful if you want to add some rhythmic modulation (like a clocked LFO or sequencer) to your oscillator :).
Only downside is that you kind of have to run your modulation through an attenuator if you don't want that behaviour.

That whole pulse width thing - you can modulate that instead of feeding it into a VCA. I don't know exactly how well it would work, but I've heard of others doing similar. I'll give it a shot on mine! It's a cool module, and I don't feel like I've really put it through its paces yet. Thanks for your video on it!
I've tried modulating the pulse width and then using the rectangle wave output for FM and the results are bizarre lol. It is a cool module, I actually didn't wrap my head around the shape insert until I made this video
Many people want pulse width to go to silence just so they can be sure they have full access. I, as a fellow ignoramus, might guess that stopping it from going to silence might be complicated, especially since peak to peak range varies across manufacturers.
Fair enough. The CV input for pulse width has an attenuverter, so I guess it's a non-issue. I was just being ornery lol
