How much do you think pest control costs? Big infestations do cost more but most from the company I work for are $500 for three visits for bed bug treatment. And they don’t stay in the bed. They can go into wall outlets, bed frame, nightstand, dressers, floorboards, ceiling, behind paintings/pictures on wall. Anywhere that is a tight squeeze/crack/crevice.
Most pest control programs include at least 3 treatments spaced two weeks between each as a package. The company I work for charges $500 And we often throw in a courtesy treatment. If it’s needed or if you find more bugs within two weeks.
Honestly, I’d have incinerated that bed, along with the bugs, then spray the skirting boards. What I will say is that not everyone could afford to do that, and can get landlords to pay for pest control. We got stung with that allowing a tennant with a cat, we wound up with fleas in the carpets. Nightmare, but people who rent should be allowed pets too as long as they parasite treat the animals as part of their tenancy rules.
I hate that some people ruin it for the rest of us. My landlord doesn’t usually allow pets since he has been burned before by former tenants. I have 2 cats. Before he would allow me to rent with my cats he visited my old house. I was able to show him how well I took care of them and that they used a litter box. Also he could smell that there was no urine in the carpets. I’m very lucky that he was willing to do that and give us a chance. 5 years later and he still does his once a year inspection. Never once had a problem.
I used to manage hotels and while I never had a bedbug occurrence plenty of my colleagues did, some many, many times. The only thing guaranteed to kill an infestation is the heat treatment. And even if only one room had bed bugs, the rooms directly on either side and directly above and below of the affected room couldn't be rented until the infested room had passed multiple "all clear" tests to ensure the room was bug free. Even an infestation of bedbugs will cost a hotel thousands of doll ars
I would not sleep on that mattress any more because they are very good at hiding and they can be still be inside the mattress I binned mine brought plastic cover for bed box bases and threw it out paid for pest treatment need more treatment using steamer bug spray until I can afford another treatment
That was nothing as far as infestation goes in the first place I lived in a apartment and I'm one of the cleanest people I know and I started waking up with welts on my skin that were itchy. I had no idea what it was I went to the doctor and he said that is bed bug bites. I was horrified because I've seen what they can do and I called the landlord. A pest control guy came checked my place and found only 5 In the baseboard next to my bed. So he told me they are coming from somewhere else. He went downstairs and 15min later came upstairs and said I have never seen anything like this. The guy said there must be thousands of them in the bedroom in the downstairs apartment. The slumlord would only pay for the one downstairs apartment to be sprayed. The pest control said if I only spray down here it's going to make them run to other people's apartments. Well he didn't care guys started spraying and within a hour they were pouring into my apartment all the baseboards wall sockets it was horrific. I had to leave half my belongings behind and I moved out that weekend but left that day. Landlord got suied by all 3 of the other tenants and myself
Bedbugs are never about cleanliness, they can infest the cleanest of homes just like any pest really. Ofcourse, a clean and tidy property makes any pest treatment more effective. They go hand in hand.
1:57 Perhaps a more educated guess would be to assume that the bedbugs - being full of blood after feasting - would have been squashed as the occupant of the bed rolled over on the other side in their sleep, thereby releasing a raltively big amount of blood at once? Just saying....

Had to get him out. Bed Bugs live in walls. Under skirting boards, etc.
You'd need to burn it and the whole house as well. Lol

After calling pest control Pete 4 times on one mattress, wouldve been cheaper to just get a new mattress
Bedbugs live underneath carpets, around cornices and can lay dormant for months. So the whole "throw out the mattress" stuff doesn't ever work

Yes, allowed two dogs with the tenant. They let the dogs urinate on living room drapes, and left it when they moved out to their new home. Turn off.
Sadly its the acts of a few that ruin it for everyone. Personally I think carpet in a rental is pretty disgusting anyways

Yuk! I would just get rid of that old bed and get a new one for sure! All those chemicals can get on you and make you sick.
Ha! I just read today one of our local restaurants has been closed for now because it failed 11 places -- four of them critical.
The only way to get rid of bed bugs is to bake the whole place. In the state of Maine if you have bed bugs your place is considered unlivable.
Restaurants have NO excuse to let their kitchens get that disgusting!! close them!

Simply rolling over on bedbugs wouldn't be sufficient to squash them because of their hard exoskeletons.

Garbage police? Stalking and harassing people dumping garbage WHERE IT BELONGS is absolutely ridiculous and hyper authoritarian.
