Love having both the flipper + thumb opening and of course the button lock. I was at walmart's today & went to check out there budget priced knives, as well as, feeling the models in hand that I've been researching online. That little original CRKT is heavy and difficult to open and close. Its hard to tell from just videos.
I just bought this knife for a friend. He was saying that he would like to carry a knife every day but didn't want something too big or something so expensive he'd be afraid to use on a daily basis. I personally think this is the knife for him.
I’m new to collecting knives. It’s addictive for sure. I’m partial to CRKT knives, not so much the G10 handles they’re using on most of their newer models. I like the steel. I’m sure the G10 is a cheaper material in the manufacturing process, but the knives seem cheap. I like a knife that will survive the next ice age. Just my opinion.
I like the D10 steel, I'm not a fan of synthetic handles. The blade shape is a win for me. The acid wash is something I do not like, I prefer a protective Potassium Chromate Coating, or an old school mix of Bee'swax and boiled Linseed oil. One tip I can share is, for belt or pocket clips that are screwed on you can get some metal or even just some small washers and longer screws and put them between the base of the clip and the knife's scales. There are many ways you can modify a clip or other features on a knife if you have the right tools, and really there are no legal concerns unless you plan on marketing and making money off of your modifications.
thanks, I had my hand smashed in the Navy, and later a car accident so I don't have much strength opening them up; but once open, I sure know how to use them. An assistated knife works for me.
@@dustinwhitt5297 lol. I own a normal size Squid, fool. Your assumption is completely wrong. 1) Penetration is horrible. 2) The hollow grind doesn't lend itself to slicing very well. 3) It is much less practical and "well rounded" than my cleaver blades, clip points and drop points. Spear point is useless.
@@CadillacDriver drop point is good, but not maximum versatility as you put it. That's just a regurgitated statement over the ages in the knife community. Spear point is literally the tip right in the middle in a straight line from the pivot, giving out a straight edge and belly, literally half and half. Tell me exactly how a drop point beats that in versatility

I'm waiting for the Giant Squid
I like this one, have the original squid. D2 and G10 is a great "everyman" price but still quality combo of materials
I wish that CRKT would make a CRKT Squid XM with either 12C27 Sandvik stainless steel or 14C28N Sandvik stainless steel.
I have an OG Squid and I love it. I typically don't prefer assisted opening, but I really want to grab an XM. Thank you for reviewing.
I have been using the smaller squid for a couple years and its a great knife, I recently picked up the XM and it's awesome
Just picked one up. Happy with it so far as an EDC. Nothing fancy and perfect for me who’s just dipping their toes in the pool of knife life.
Just the kind of video content I like when a knife (new to me) is being reviewed. Thank you.
Excellent. Thanks Eddie. Sharing it helps my channel if you’re able to.
Okay. I shared it 👍
That's a decent price for the paces that you put it through. I've never used an assisted knife looks interesting thanks Tim

*** Walmart... no "s"
Just bought one, great every day knife, for the money.

Ty I have fun watching y'all. I learn a lot from you about knifes.

Come the next ice age, the G10 scale will be the only thing left of the knife, long after the steel has rusted away.

I have y he banter, it's pretty much a perfect edc knife
Looking forward to picking up the new 🐙
Lmao imagine one of the guys that buys a sebenza showing it being used like this they’d never
Seemed like fairly normal use for a knife 👌 I would do that with my crk ;)
Assisted knives are for babies and old people

Least practical blade shape ever.
You apparently haven't used a spear point before. This is one of the most well rounded blade shapes in existence.
