This was the most emotional piece in the game for me. On the ride back, hearing Jaimie talk about how he just wants to belong to a group that makes him feel safe, and Arthur berating him for giving them money, you start to realize the parallel between the path Arthur took and the path Arthur saved Jaimie from; Arthur was picked up by the gang as a young kid Jaimie’s age, you could argue that he was brainwashed by Dutch, started to see the gang as his “family”, providing them with “charitable donations”, feeding them and whatnot. By the time Arthur realized the gang was not a true family, not in the way John and Abigail and Jack were, more like a cult, and that his father figure and mentor had no problem with sacrificing their lives to make more and more money and to satisfy his ego, it was too late for him to escape the life. This song evokes the tragedy of Arthur’s story like few other tracks in the game, and it’s used once in a mission that you can choose not to do. That is a shame. I think it could have been used after the diagnosis even.
You know what’s weird is that you can choose not to do this mission AND the sister missions in saint denis which ultimately leads to (in my opinion) the most powerful scene in the entire game where Arthur says that he is afraid. My favorite game of all time.

Author Morgan, although is a fictional game character, represents a lot of the positive father figures i’ve had in my life. All those who wanted to leave the gang are finally returned (the case of Hosea), because it is the only life they know. Arthur could have been happy only for a while with Mary, but he would have plunged into crime again, until he found the meaning of his life (which is triggered by Arthur's illness), his redemption.
Never will any character in any book, movie, or game impact me as much as Arthur did. I think he taught everyone something about themselves that they didn't know, and made us all think hard about who we are. I hope Rockstar realizes the power that such a person brought to us all.

It's not always easy, sometimes seeing everyone lose themselves or hope in life is depressing, I certainly felt that way for a time. This game has so many little ironies. Arthur would have survived tuberculosis if he had been in a more arid region with a dryer climate, the gang heading out west would have been the best thing for him. instead they decided to venture east into a very humid and swampy area. arthur had a chance to fight it if he was out west
Currently going through the game a second time, just finished this mission and had found myself incredibly touched by this music on the ride back with Jamie. I think it's so cool how so many other people in the comments found this to be one of the most touching pieces as well. In a game that mostly maintains an atmosphere of action accompanied by the classic western-sounding reverb-heavy electric guitars and whose moments of peacefulness are mainly carried by naturalist sounding folk music, this ethereal, spacey, sedative tune comes totally out of left field and commands our attention because of its uniqueness. Makes us disconnect from the rest of the game while we're still playing it and renders us helpless to the simultaneous feelings of peacefulness, loneliness, sorrow, bliss, and joy that this track imparts. Fucking love this song and this moment in the game.

Why did I never just look it up? I tried using Shazam to find it while doing the mission but it wouldn't pick it up!! So happy I found it because I couldn't get it out of my head since October when I first heard it in the mission.
I always think about this track when I hear "Red Dead Redemption 2." It feels like the most "Arthur" track. This piece longs for something beyond. It yearns for it and, compared to the rest, it's a bit out of place. Perhaps it's because it's only used once. Wish it would have appeared more than once. It would have been nice to hear it again in the epilogue. Perhaps the Chelonians could have been mentioned again or perhaps it could have been repurposed. Perhaps it could have been related to father-hood. A nice ride in the wilderness. The gentle waves of the steel guitar. Peace for now.
What if after the epilogue ends you'd get a cut scene of john riding on his horse to Arthur's grave in cinematic like cruel world and unshaken with this song playing as well as Arthur's memorable dialogues to john especially the ones near the endgame

On first playthrough on the final mission with Mary when you could see the theater with her, he said "I just need more money" as an excuse to not leave yet. Funny enough he was carrying 158,442.17 in todays American dollar in his pockets. Really wish this game wasnt so linear but i adore it nonetheless.
I haven't finished half of Red Dead II, but the story and music (especially this track) keeps making me wanna take another shot at it and do my darnedest to stick with it to 100%. From what I've played I absolutely love it to death, but unfortunately had a couple characters' deaths spoiled (thanks a lot Kek or Cringe with Dutch van der Linde), but that isn't deterring me in the slightest. Afterwards I'm gonna 100% RDRI since it's been a long while since I touched that masterpiece.

I just got red dead 2 and it was honestly one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have been going through a tough time recently and I played this mission and it just gave me happiness, happiness I haven’t felt in a while. This game truly is amazing.
I hear this in my head when I go up into the Rocky Mountains. Being above the trees and looking down on the world can definitely give you a certain spiritual feeling.
My ex that I loved more than life itself pushed me to buy this game and play it while we had to go long distance for awhile. We had so many fun memories of playing Online together and talking about the story and the music. One day, out of the blue. She decided she had enough of me. We already had future kid name's picked and so many plans for the future. But she just got tired one day and broke it off over the phone. It's funny cause for whatever reason I skipped this mission during my playthrough when I was still with her. Now on my 2nd playthrough, I decided to help Mary and her brother Jamie. And the entire ride back I had so many tears in my eyes. Just like now when i write this. It's so bittersweet this song, like my relationship with my dream girl. I'm sad now but somehow at peace and certainly nostalgic with the fact I got to share any time with her. She was my Mary Linton and I'll forever cry when I hear this song. The whole game shakes me to my core when I play it now. "Take a gamble that love exists, and do a loving act". I hope I find someone else to accept me. Just like how Jamie, Arthur, and everyone irl reading this needs. I hope we all find our shell of safety in life.
hey bro, hopefully you’re doing ok, same thing happened to me but in real life, i can imagine the feeling, u freeze and u can’t believe the love of ur life just said those words, luckily she realised she had made a mistake n because i loved her so much i took her back, so far it has been really good n she knows the mistake she made. but that’s not the point, the point is in the few weeks we weren’t tgt i was devastated at first, but later i started to see the brighter parts of life, and though i still loved her i was able to enjoy being w the ppl that will always be w me i.e friends and family, just always know there are ppl there to help, even someone like me who u don’t know at all, if u give her time she might realise n then you’ll have to make up ur mind abt getting back tgt, but if she decides to not get back tgt just keep ur head high. ps this song makes me rlly peaceful n grateful but sad too.

On first playthrough on the final mission with Mary when you could see the theater with her, he said "I just need more money" as an excuse to not leave yet. Funny enough he was carrying 158,442.17 in todays American dollar in his pockets. Really wish this game wasnt so linear but i adore it nonetheless.
I haven't finished half of Red Dead II, but the story and music (especially this track) keeps making me wanna take another shot at it and do my darnedest to stick with it to 100%. From what I've played I absolutely love it to death, but unfortunately had a couple characters' deaths spoiled (thanks a lot Kek or Cringe with Dutch van der Linde), but that isn't deterring me in the slightest. Afterwards I'm gonna 100% RDRI since it's been a long while since I touched that masterpiece.
this is a weird fact but i read somewhere that spoilers actually make a story more enjoyable. it's a great game and a great story, you're doing a disservice to yourself for not getting through it partner. happy trails

I just got red dead 2 and it was honestly one of the best purchases I have ever made. I have been going through a tough time recently and I played this mission and it just gave me happiness, happiness I haven’t felt in a while. This game truly is amazing.
I hear this in my head when I go up into the Rocky Mountains. Being above the trees and looking down on the world can definitely give you a certain spiritual feeling.
This OST beats may I stand unshaken because it reassembles 2 things I think of peace and sadness which would have been perfect for the end

My ex that I loved more than life itself pushed me to buy this game and play it while we had to go long distance for awhile. We had so many fun memories of playing Online together and talking about the story and the music. One day, out of the blue. She decided she had enough of me. We already had future kid name's picked and so many plans for the future. But she just got tired one day and broke it off over the phone. It's funny cause for whatever reason I skipped this mission during my playthrough when I was still with her. Now on my 2nd playthrough, I decided to help Mary and her brother Jamie. And the entire ride back I had so many tears in my eyes. Just like now when i write this. It's so bittersweet this song, like my relationship with my dream girl. I'm sad now but somehow at peace and certainly nostalgic with the fact I got to share any time with her. She was my Mary Linton and I'll forever cry when I hear this song. The whole game shakes me to my core when I play it now. "Take a gamble that love exists, and do a loving act". I hope I find someone else to accept me. Just like how Jamie, Arthur, and everyone irl reading this needs. I hope we all find our shell of safety in life.
hey bro, hopefully you’re doing ok, same thing happened to me but in real life, i can imagine the feeling, u freeze and u can’t believe the love of ur life just said those words, luckily she realised she had made a mistake n because i loved her so much i took her back, so far it has been really good n she knows the mistake she made. but that’s not the point, the point is in the few weeks we weren’t tgt i was devastated at first, but later i started to see the brighter parts of life, and though i still loved her i was able to enjoy being w the ppl that will always be w me i.e friends and family, just always know there are ppl there to help, even someone like me who u don’t know at all, if u give her time she might realise n then you’ll have to make up ur mind abt getting back tgt, but if she decides to not get back tgt just keep ur head high. ps this song makes me rlly peaceful n grateful but sad too.
lol u probs never read my reply and probs won’t read this one too, but this is an update i actually regret getting back tgt, it ended being bad and it started to feel like she kept me to the side and didn’t rlly give any importance to me, it also felt like she forgot what she did to me and i don’t think she ever felt sad cuz she caused me pain,but she got sad more because she wanted to have company n love. anyways i hope ur doing good, im actually doing great cuz even before i ended things (to stop getting treated badly) i started to distance myself because i realised she never loved me after she broke w me for the first time, and even tho its painful you realise life goes on and you’ll find love or love will find you, but one thing you never forget is that there will always be love around you, whether from your friends or family, or to be honest from urself, just take care of urself and live a little. cuz once you start doing that life gets pretty alright you know, you don’t find the need for a partner in ur life anymore.
