That tillandsia xerographica probably took the grower around 7 to 10 years or more to grow to that size!! 16 dollars is a killer price and it’s definitely less than what it’s worth, at least imo.
It's so interesting to hear your perspective on pricing and selection! Compared to what is available here in the midwest, these prices seem pretty decent, and I would be ecstatic if I found all of these available at a big box store near me. Thanks for the awesome video!
16:38 they aren't really glued kinda just stuck on and the root stock isnt euphorbia its actually an epiphytic cactus known as hylocereus Undatus aka dragon fruit
My Home Depot and Lowe’s are ... Not Good. The last I checked my Home Depot the green house area wasn’t heated and every indoor plant was dead 😱😭 Lowe’s at least keeps their plant area warm... but the selection is not anything like this.
somehow these stores are still better stocked than the ones around me 😩 my lowe’s has like one tray of succulents and that’s it. they barely even have pots & soil, it’s the worst. and then there’s walmart that just has painted succulents thrown in a corner to die lmao
I really loved your store plant tours. The same plants you showed are at least double the price in Australia. (allowing for the US/AUS $ conversion). I love plants but loving plants like I do is an expensive hobby here in Australia.
When I was new to plants I started out at Home Depot (Mall 205) and while it's hit or miss I did have some okay finds. Found a red maranta in 2014 (killed it) and a green one in 2016 (alive), and a peperomia ruby cascade I still have and a few others I see at nurseries more than BB stores. In summer, in the city, Fred Meyer has a pretty big plant section which is a little Big Box to me. Fwiw there were some large monstera at that Lowes a few days before you arrived and the local plant group swooped in to grab them. There seem to be more suburban plant collectors on the groups than city folk and they patrol often.
My HD only carry super common stuff and they drop in quality later in the months, but they dont discount it. There used to be a huge hindu rope but then down the line they kept cutting it down while charging the same price. Also everythings priced at 20 when my nursery usually charges 5
If it's a northern state you gotta keep in mind the semi trailers aren't heated so unless it's coming by a special smaller scale carrier you will see a huge diminish in shipments coming from Florida nursery's. Also too you cannot really get a plant home without cold damage unless you get creative with a insulated bag. That Ardisia little guy I've never seen before but dang I'd take that fig in the cobalt blue pot any day.
If my local garden centre had half the houseplants of any of those places they would be doubling their normal stock, if I had one of those it would be like Christmas and birthday all in one. 🌱💖
We might not have good Home Depot’s and Lowe’s, but we have really great nurseries, and botanical stores. Portland Nursery is great (especially the one on Division), Farmington Gardens (the big nursery has a larger selection) has great prices and good quality plants, and Marbott’s often gets in rarer plants. For smaller stores, Arium Botanicals has great plants, a fun location, and awesome employees. We’ve got great plants in Portland, just not at our big box stores. At least not in the winter (though the summer isn’t much better, the stores down in Beaverton do tend to get better plants than those close to the city).
@@jamila9702 There's a smaller (but still pretty nice size) Portland Nursery on Stark if you live closer in and don't want to go way out. There's a Pistils on NW Raleigh which is a short walk to Solabees and then a short bus ride to Hammer + Vine so you can do 3 in one day. Solabees fyi had a great selection 2 weeks ago.
Hey, their is a couple BIG fig trees for like 40 bucks at the Lowes in Keizer, OR. And they're like my height! I'm 5'7"! Just sharing if you want one 😊 "Yeah that ZZ is doing good, you know why? Because they thrives on NEGLECT." LOL
I don't even bother. I did go to a local nursery and found calatheas and a and I mean 1 purple passion plant that I've been looking for several months. Other than that I'll be waiting on spring.
Ok if you think both of those suck then you need to come to central Indiana because those are BY FAR better than any around here lol. My Lowe’s and Home Depot both have only like one little row of plants year round, they get more in the summer but it’s about as big as the selection that you have now..... so send help
You think that Home Depot was bad the ones by me carry mostly dead plants. You’re lucky to find a nice plant. Our Lowe’s is a bit better but not not too much. Thank God for mail order but you can’t do that in the winter ❄️ in Ohio.
That's how my home depot is too.... they put them out and just let them die (except the succulents & cactus those they over water) so everything looks like those dead ones. I've seen pictures of dumpsters full of plants in pots just thrown away. 😩😭
I had a ardisia once and boy those plants attract just about every pest I could think of despite all my best efforts to keep pests off it, I eventually had to throw it out when it got thrips and spider mites. :( also what was the spelling for that euphorbia at 10:56 ? I love the way it looks but I cant find it.
I literally love when you do a big box store videos 😍 my dream plan is to have the air plant you showed in the beginning at the first Lowe’s that was $16. I wish mine carried it 😭😭😫😫 GIRL I’ll Venmo you if you ship it to me 😭😂 Tillandsia Xerographica
That tillandsia xerographica probably took the grower around 7 to 10 years or more to grow to that size!! 16 dollars is a killer price and it’s definitely less than what it’s worth, at least imo.
Those can run like $30 and when they look good it's a steal for $16!
It's so interesting to hear your perspective on pricing and selection! Compared to what is available here in the midwest, these prices seem pretty decent, and I would be ecstatic if I found all of these available at a big box store near me. Thanks for the awesome video!
That dark purple plant is an iresine herbstii, chicken gizzard plant!
That xerographica air plant is actually a pretty good price at $15. Those look about 5-8 years old to get that size.
So do a lot of other plants there but you dont see them charging nursery prices. At lowes and homedepot it should be like 5-8$ for something like that
That was super fun to watch! I love going on plant treasure hunts! ♡
16:38 they aren't really glued kinda just stuck on and the root stock isnt euphorbia its actually an epiphytic cactus known as hylocereus Undatus aka dragon fruit
Amazing..👌👌
Just wonderful..❤❤
The first store was the best. Keep em coming.

13:16 whoever told you that touching orchid blooms makes them die is lying lol it’s not true
😂 had a good laugh at that too. People believe orchids are much more fragile than they really are
Kalanchoes are so gorgeous and have so much variety of flower colour and shape they are so cool!! 💚
Thank you so much for not skipping the cacti :') I love both, cacti & houseplants 😊🌱🌵
somehow these stores are still better stocked than the ones around me 😩 my lowe’s has like one tray of succulents and that’s it. they barely even have pots & soil, it’s the worst. and then there’s walmart that just has painted succulents thrown in a corner to die lmao
Agree Emma, our Salem/Keizer locations don't have a lot of selections on house plants. It's laaaaaame
I really loved your store plant tours. The same plants you showed are at least double the price in Australia. (allowing for the US/AUS $ conversion). I love plants but loving plants like I do is an expensive hobby here in Australia.
You should check random grocery stores like Grocery outlet or Fred Meyer. I have found some great odds and ends for really inexpensive.

Our Lowe’s is way better than our Home Depot where I’m at in MT! Also, our Ace Hardware carries some good plants!

My Home Depot’s indoor plant area is half that size, and has about 150-200 poinsettias crammed into it
The red plant is called Iresine, it’s the same one in my avi. And yes, our Lowe’s is terrible
Lowe’s really is the best here in Hawai’i. Love the nails BTW!

I was literally just at home depot and got a sansevieria moonshine thats wack
Also, i believe that is a bloodleaf plant
If my local garden centre had half the houseplants of any of those places they would be doubling their normal stock, if I had one of those it would be like Christmas and birthday all in one. 🌱💖
18:01 that is a hybrid between an aloe and gasteria also known as a gasteraloe. The one you found was gasteraloe 'flow'

Ill have to make a stop at the stores you suggested. Thanks because I never know where to go here in PDX.
I am actually from Portland! I’ve made videos on all the nurseries except for star flower and stag horn if u wanna check them out :)
@@PlantingAshley Starflower is actually a 6 minute walk from me. It's small but it's nice to have something close to my local coffee shop

That $4 ardisa was beautiful. I love those leaves
What?! I hope our Lowe’s starts potting plants soon!!
Girl, $10 for a pothos that size is so cheap! Where I live one that size could go from $15-$20. Australia with them expensive prices ✌️😌
I really love this olive green for real💞

It’s a hit or miss. I got lucky this weekend! I found Calathea musaica, zz raven, and a variegated Maranta leuconeura kershoveana. 😍
I’m screaming
Plant Me Ashley wanna trade? 😂
The Lowe's in Wood Village (Gresham) has a greenhouse and a bigger selection of plants.
I would have totally met you there!!!
Air plants are expensive in my country. I have that size of Xerographica for 35 Dollars. It's around 48 US Dollars.
I don't even bother. I did go to a local nursery and found calatheas and a and I mean 1 purple passion plant that I've been looking for several months. Other than that I'll be waiting on spring.
This is a cool video. Don‘t dress yourself down. Like it
The Ardisia at 1:32 is another variety of coffee plant if I’m not mistaken
Try a Walmart for a variegated Hindu rope! That's where I found my Mauna Loa 😊

What price do you think is fair for the big air plant? In California i find ones in the small size you showed for $4-6
$16 is a good price for the one is this video. They go for $25-30 usually.
That's how my home depot is too.... they put them out and just let them die (except the succulents & cactus those they over water) so everything looks like those dead ones. I've seen pictures of dumpsters full of plants in pots just thrown away. 😩😭
Love the green nails 💚
Did you know Poinsettia is a type of Euphorbia well maybe it’s just me 😢😅

also what was the spelling for that euphorbia at 10:56 ? I love the way it looks but I cant find it.
Which locations of Lowe’s and Home Depot did you go to? I’m in The Portland area and I need that fiddle leaf fig
Girl, their are some cheap ones at the Lowe's in Keizer. May be 30 minutes down from Portland but it's big and only 40 bucks!
Did you start with getting all your plants at big box stores.
I started getting them at a local place called edwards, but then transitioned to cheaper alternatives at big box stores :)
@@PlantingAshley thank you! :) do you find that the plants are just as good as if you'd buy from a nursery?
Wow I’m actually early for once
I literally love when you do a big box store videos 😍 my dream plan is to have the air plant you showed in the beginning at the first Lowe’s that was $16. I wish mine carried it 😭😭😫😫 GIRL I’ll Venmo you if you ship it to me 😭😂 Tillandsia Xerographica
Yeah i thought that was a great price for one that size. They take a long time to grow dont they?
16$ is nursery price though. They shouldn’t b charging nursery prices at lowes and home depot
Plant Me Ashley Not my local nursery! That one would be like $30 where I could find it.
Cant be worst than South Dakota lowes and Home Depot
which Lowe's in Portland are you at?
I really hoped you would help the turnt over plants and get their pots up 🙈
Where are these monstera earrings from😍
I got them from a jeweler in Mexico!
You said mcminnville 😅😁I’m from mcminnville
💚💚💚💚💚
I think the way you pronounce dracaena is actually correct for the Latin.
Which locations are these? I live in pdx and there was a few plants I want to snag!
faith edwards homedepot and lowes in tigard, and one homedepot in beaverton
I love you dear 👌👌👌👍
Big box stores in Washington are the same, bad care with poor selection. Booo.
The plants in your area are sooooooo overpriced !!!
Wow . I'm in Miami and all these plants are crazy cheaper here.
