From First to Last was one of my first bands. I was 13 when I heard this song and I'm 24 now. I didn't expect to like this remake. But I fucking love it.

I really like it. At first I thought that Spencer wasn't good at all. I thought he had ruined FFTL but then I kept listening to the songs they were releasing and yeah. So to this day they have proved me wrong. I now realize Spencer is awesome! I now feel confortable with the fact that he is FFTL's new frontman. Spencer you rock!

People are probably wondering who the song "Emily" is about. Is it about Jon Weisberg's girlfriend or my ex girlfriend? Lets clear this shit up right now. First off, it wasn't written by Jon and it wasn't written by just myself either. It was written by the both of us. At the time, we were both dating girls named Emily and we thought what better way to show our emotions and feelings to them than to write a song. So that's what we did. Jon and his girlfriend are still together. But Emily and I split up a long time ago. We actually met on the internet on Myspace. One of her friends had gotten her into liking our band after showing her our old Myspace. She sent us a message and I had gotten back to her on my own personal account and added her to my friends list. We talked on aim and shit and when the guys and I went off to do a show in Baton Rouge, I finally got to meet her in person. After that, there were a few trips to Rouge and what not when I had free time. We however, split up because I'm not good at long distance relationships. I cheated on her when I was on Warped with my band. I told her what had happened because I didn't want to lie. Honesty means a lot to me. I apologized for it but we both could see that the relationship we had was at an end. I can recall that night on which we did break up. We cried on the phone together. I'm not one to cry, but I felt like such a bastard for letting her down like that.

Spencer's voice is awesome on this song, but in the old emo times, sonny are the best singer in the world.
Spencer is good and all, but I takes a lot to get used to hearing hem sing THESE lyrics.
its a good remake but I prefer the original with Sonny. I feel like Sonny's vocals gives the song a lot more "spirit" if that makes sense.
I think Sonny wrote the lyrics to all of their earlier songs, since he was the primary singer. So it gives the music more soul, since he would be enthusiastic with singing using his own words.
I can't clarify that since I don't have any of the CDs, but I think that's usually the case with all bands.

Honestly I really love the old "Note To Self" don't get me wrong. But Spencer's vocals give this song a lot more balls in my opinion. Really talented vocalist and I can see this band will go even further in the future. Well they already went far lol but I can tell they will power through the years like a motherfucker xD
The original wasn't any more emotional than this version. Sonny couldn't stop his voice from cracking every other line and it made him sound like he was crying. Spencer is miles ahead of Sonny vocally.

Spencer is a much better singer, I don't argue that, but this can't live up to the original to me. In many ways it's Sonny's exact style that made the song for me. I appreciate Spencer in Periphery and the new songs on this album much more than on this song.

I grew up listening to FFTL. Saw them several times at warp tour and other shows. I stopped following them after Sonny had to stop singing.
First time hearing Spencer. He's really good. There's no replacing Sony though
I like this more than the original, not because of the new singer (in fact i prefer sonny) but because it's just higher quality. better mixing and mastering in it. sounds better to the ears, regardless of if i liked sonny singing more or not

Spencer is undoubtedly a better singer than Soony. His range is better, his technique is better, and he can clearly still sing.
I still think both of them have great voices, but people are so ignorant to true technique when it comes to vocals..
Punk isn't really about technique.
Singing is literally all technique upon technique. wut
If that were the case every genre would call for the same singers that win American Idol competitions, or sing in theatre/opera. Punk is about expression and emotion. If you can get that across I could a fuck about your vocal range or vibrato. And Sonny did that way better than Spencer does, especially evident on this song.
Spencer no doubt has a better range, but Sonny had greater highs for sure. Cleaner highs. And taht's saying something because spencer has a nasty high range. The highs fit their old sound. Spencer barely pulls it off, as far as the old sound that is. I think overall it's an improvement, but that's just my opinion.
Spencer has the skill, but not the passion. Sonny had the passion, but not the skill.
Stop comparing this new man to Sonny. I am just glad they picked someone who kept the vibe Sonny did, and revitalized their older hits. Both are amazing for From First To Last. I used to like a lot FFTL when I was younger, I used to idolized Soony, I loved the singing , etc etc , now I grew up , went back to listen to old songs FFTL , also old concerts, but Soony wasn´t that good as I thought when I was younger. He used too lost his voice a lot when singing, he when out of tune a lot, etc etc, but who didn't right?, Good lyric composer, yes...but not a good singer. Now is this guy, Spencer, man, he is just talented.... Just for the record... this song came out 11 YEARS AGO! FFTL got better with the time, they improved their skills, and man, THIS IS MOORE THAN GOOD.... but is just an opinion on the internet
valente aguado Well you have to admit though Sonny is amazing for not being a singer. He was brought into the band to play guitar. He was not a singer by any means. They put him on vocals in the middle of recording the album because he was singing the songs outside one day and they loved the way he sounded so they asked him to sing instead of playing guitar but originally he was a guitar player in FFTL. When they had him join the bad they didn't know he could sing or anything. So for someone that is not a singer to step up and become a singer in the middle of an album recording..... By those standards..... He is an amazing singer. I've been in those shoes before and it was an epic fail in my opinion but Sonny..... pulled it off like a pro.

valente aguado Yeah Sonny was more of an unpolished natural singer with good melody writing abilities and a very naturally voice but he would push and strain so hard and it just caught up to him. Tore his cords up.
