GCI Pariah Demonstration Video

A collaboration between veteran producers Will Putney and Kurt Ballou, Pariah is a devastating fuzz with extreme tone-shaping capabilities inspired by one of Will’s favorite dirt boxes. At its heart are four silicon transistors hand selected to produce harmonically rich yet articulate fuzz. Modern passive components and relay bypass switching ensure low self-noise and reliability for years to come. The three tone controls-Tilt, Mid, and Shape-are quite interactive. Tilt adjusts the overall balance between bright and dark. Mid controls the amount of mid scoop. Shape (along with the position of the Tilt knob) adjusts the mid frequency.

Kurt, these videos are fuckin great. Straight to the point. That tilt knob is neat, is it like a "freq" knob you see on other pedals from other people, or maybe similar to the "sweep" knob on the jugendstil? Or am i just way off....

Nah, tilt is like the tone control on a Muff, it basically determines where the mid scoop is. Jugendstil is a totally different circuit and the sweep control determines the frequency of mid boost.

Dude your guitars are so sweet…. does that p90 humbucker pickup thing you make sound like a p90 clean at all??

I have the Constructivist that has the two P90-shaped pickups. They're actually stacked humbuckers that are wound pretty hot. I find them quite warm and bloom when you dig in. They're 4-wire pickups so hypothetically you can split the coils to get a P90-esque tonality out of them although the guitars GCI sells don't have that functionality built into them. They're the same form factor as a P90 though so if you want to swap them out, it wouldn't require any new routing or pick guards. The GCI webpage has these pickups for sale independently and has more tech/specs/info on the pickups.
