Thanks for watching! Please let me know your thoughts on the video, and on the game :) Known issues in the game that will be fixed: -The inventory system takes some getting used to, I'll be adding visuals and a clearer overall inventory system. -In rare cases a Rite will get stuck on a certain item and not allow you to change it, so be sure to save often!
I hope you can get back on the bike and keep working on your idea! I really think challenges like game jams are a great source of motivation, because it forces you to just get something done. You can always clean it up later, but at least you got started, you know?
@@atominyo That's awesome, good luck! (And if you're ever not sure which jam to join, itch has a handy tab that shows all the current and upcoming game jams hosted on the site.)
spooktober gang! i technically joined at the start...but then procrastinated and ended up doing most of the work over the last couple weeks X_X the grind... all those art assets... game jams are soooo good for getting that external motivation to get games done for sure, haha! i'll have to play your vn later, looks interesting :) good video
The game jam grind is soooo real... it's a lot of work, but at least you come out on the other side with a (semi) completed work to show for it! Thank you for watching, and if you play the game I hope you enjoy it!
This is really helping. I'm struggling to get into development as it feels like a gigantic task I know too little about, and especially coding can be so frustrating. Thanks for the video :)
Glad it was helpful! Coding was super daunting to me for years, but once I started learning by doing it became much more natural. Keep it up, I'm sure you'll make great things!
This was so interesting to watch! Definitely a really ambitious idea for the amount of time you had, but the result looks great! I'll check out the game when I get some time ~
Watching this video made me really want to play your game and maybe some of the other ones in the jam!! Also I LOVE the butler idea, it would be awsome if you made that game!!
Yippee, I'm so glad!! I'd really appreciate it if you did play the game 🙏 I'm still listening for any feedback people have on it. And I have lots of ideas for that butler game, maybe I'll make a devlog or a video explaining the concept more in depth soon!
the second idea was the best maybe have the player hold a journal to cross reference past threats to find the new ones faster and if you royally screw up the reapers insult you for being trash also reference Alois Trancy an Luca Macken from Black Butler anime but ya know far less suffering it would be adorable trying to keep children safe all day an night
Ooh, I see I see. If you're interested, in my latest video I actually expanded on that game idea further! It's not literally a Black Butler fangame, but it does pull some tropes from there, and the butler character is still a badass lol.
I would love to make a game but coding seems so hard to me. I always start and then give up 🥲 Channels like yours are very inspiring though! I love hearing about other people's creative process ❤
I feel you! I've been wanting to make games for years, but assumed coding would be too difficult and got scared off. Once I found a beginner-friendly engine, the possibilities really opened up! I'm glad I can inspire someone, good luck with your creative projects
I saw your thumbnail and i was like SAME! I'm also learning how to make games solo and I've tried learning many engines and coding languages and Ren'py as well as python felt the least daunting to me
I feel the same way! I have some game ideas I know would probably work best in other game engines, but Renpy is so easy to understand that I'm scared to try other options for now, haha. Good luck on your game dev journey!

Barely started the vid, but what is that song you used at the beggining? Sounds familiar
@@plantinapot9169 It's "Game Sync" from Pokemon Black and White! All the songs used in this video are Pokemon background music :]
@@kirigayapnk Yay thankyou! The game is also fun, peak concept
@@plantinapot9169 Thanks so much, I'm glad you think so! 😊

It's a date ;)

i haven't made any progress with my VN idea in over 3 years, so i'm totally in admiration with your motivation and result!!

i was today years old when i realize ren'py is pronounced ren pai because the py is short for the python coding language.......
Yeah, it's funny, right? Apparently it also comes from "ren ai," a Japanese term for romantic love. It's very punny.
U r so talented & underrated 😭♥️✨
Can I play this? If yes then where can I find it? 😢😅
