    You know, just something for you guys to try someday.
    If you use a more clear plexi, and tint it with a chromatic window tint. Then line the bottom of the aluminium railings with it, you can take advantage of the infinite reflection effect, making the floor appear as if it is floating above a large black void.
    would require a bit more effort, but could really propel your project to another level. Hope to see if someday.
    Aside from that, this project is very, very cool. Nice work.
    - Cheers MatchStix Entertainment.

    Splice the ends
    tie them into speaker system
    ????
    watch floor dance to the music

    • @numpty1ish
      @numpty1ish 9 років тому +4

      ***** Well, all you need to do is divert the positive and negative power connections for an extremely powerful speaker that could provide enough power for the LEDS (they might not need that much power but I'm not sure how much they need) and connect them to the corresponding connections on the LEDS.
      As far as I know...

    • @numpty1ish
      @numpty1ish 9 років тому

      This would be making it way to over-complicated, but you could probably set up a connection to increase the power input to the LEDs without removing the power fluctuations that the music would cause.
      But it would just be easier to the Raspberry Pi or an Arduino and have something fancy set-up.

    done it myself in the party room of my house. But at least where i have the horizontal and verical lines, i kept the shape of the floor ceramics. Didn't cut it in half ,when i wasn't suposed too. Plus there is a cheaper, more inconspicous and easy way to do it. Here there's a lot of useless work. Still great efort and good job. Congrats

    • @tornadokat
      @tornadokat 8 років тому +10

      +Mike j an LED can't die?!?! Always funny when someone makes a statement that sound like fact but is completely false.

    • @mikej2489
      @mikej2489 8 років тому +13

      +tornadokat So your saying my teachers, company and experts. are all lying ?
      Leds do not burn out. They fade and dim over time. This takes with leds nowadays about 100.000 hours.
      Thats 22 years if you use 12 hours a day. And they never fade away entirely, but looks awful though.
      When you buy a led light from a hardware store, or any commercial light. (so not a 5mm led for DIY stuff)
      And it dies, it is not the led thats broken, its always the controller inside the led light.
      Put in a new controller, and voila your led light works again. (unless for some reason it goes a power spike)

My main question is with using the 6" grinder for cuts, is the imperfection in the joints very noticeable?. I would likely use a miter saw but realize that would take a lot of extra time. Why do people complain about the LEDs failing? :) isn't it as simple as removing the transparent glas/plastic/whatever covers and changing the LED strip? I mean, you don't have to dig up the whole place again just to remove a faulty strip ^^ (or am I wrong? please correct me if I am :)

      +Daniel Kemnitz For me personally, the complaint is that they barely last a few hours of use sometimes. Maybe I have been very unlucky or just buying from the wrong people. I bought a continuous RGB strip from one particular eBay seller and half of it failed within around 6 hours. The replacement then lost its ability to show red on some of the strip within a similar time. Surely that is not acceptable.

LED Floor is a GREAT idea for those old persons with view problems (like my mom) who always need a lattern for moving around home on night.!! Would be... in middle of the tiles (below) a pressure sensor for turn on/off the side LEDs indicating the way to the Toilet, Kitchen, Room...

    Mate, you make tiling look so easy.. I bet it's not. The LED floor system is awesome. I have a games room with a bar and some pinball machines, 80's arcades. I think an interactive LED floor system in there would look freaking outstanding. Brilliant work.

    Lighting in the floor, the cool way. No but seriously, playing with some single color led light strips has taught me something, stretching a LED strip across the floor of a room seams to light the room better then stretching one across the ceiling, have you noticed this too?

    I watched about a half a minute before muting the audio. WHEW! I just didn't "get it". Then, I tried watching the video silently and by 2:30 I gave up on that too cuz I still didn't "get it". After reading most of the posted comments, I finally "got it". What I"got" was I'm just too old and don't belong here. :-) To those who DO "get it", I say: Have a ball gang!

    I like your projects - but thought I'd let you know, that I have given up on watching most of them because of the music. Plz understand - I'm not trying to tell you how to make your videos, I'm just telling you how it comes across to me, so that if other people hints to the same, it might be worth consideration. Otherwise: thx for inspiration and effort :-)

    • @adonian

    • @Henreinje
      @Henreinje 8 років тому +1

      Yeah I know - but I very often multi-tab and multi-windows, so turning sound on and of becomes annoying But you're right - I could easily fix it myself. Still: if other people than myself also respond this way, I would assume the creater would want to know. :-)
