I couldn't tell by the info provided, was the wheelbase longer on the Sprinter or the overall truck length? Interior cargo volume would have been good info to have for the comparison. Sprinter looks better but Black looks better than white on vans. Most comparisons favor the Ford IMHO. Both good vans. Mercedes is all about cost of ownership, hence diesel. Surprising that with the extra cost of diesel and extra maintenance it still shines, but we the Ford would win when it comes to dealership maintenance.

Great video and comparison. I have been on the fence but I will stay away from the Sprinter unless you are in an area that has a dealer that is licenced to work on a sprinter. With a Ford, as long as it fits in the garage they can work on it. I'm heading into the market for an RV conversion so the likeliness of having a sprinter dealer in remote areas would be unlikely which could result in a lot bigger expense in an already pricy repair. I currently own a Transit passenger wagon and it has been super reliable so I am looking more at the Transit or Ram for the RV.
Diesel mechanics are hard to find, those that work on sprinters are harder. Availability of parts, cost of parts, cost of labor…. Transit all the way.. transit is taller on the inside, wider on the inside., And can be worked on anywhere.. parts are everywhere…. If you need a van as a daily income maker. Then anticipated downtime in a transit will be hours or days, sprinter will be days, weeks or months.. Transit is also a better drive.
Ive driven both for my job and if I had to purchase with my own money I woukd go with Ford. Theyre both good, difference in purchase price and maintenance makes me choose Ford.
I am very interested in either the Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit for the purpose of commercial use, such as construction. My biggest concern for a Van is its reliability, most importantly its engine and transmission. I am looking to buy a brand new van, so it will be definitely a 2023, but I can't find anything about the pros and cons of my concern, yet what problems are faced with both engines and transmission. Can I get more information about both vans? I loved the video, seeing the full walk-around and comparison of the exterior and interior of the vans, but I wish to get more info on their performance.
When good and reliable, the Sprinter is better.. BUT… when these vans go wrong, and ALL vehicles go wrong.. hunting a repair shop for the Sprinter is like hunting a brain surgeon with three legs, and the repair will take longer that boing building a reliable spaceship. And cost similar.. the transit has an iffier build quality, but it is insanely reliable, and literally every repair shop and shady tree mechanic can fix it, and repairs are cheaper than a Californian Big Mac. .. in short, buy a Sprinter if and only if YOU are a Mercedes mechanic… buy a transit if you want reliable vehicular uptime.
The transit is better choice it’s has more Power . Higher Roof . Cheaper Repairs . Not to mention here in North America you can get service almost anywhere with the Ford . The only pro for the sprinter is the nicer interior.
I had a 2017 mercedes springer at my previous employer. It was nice driving it but there were a few times where the transmission would act funny and we would take it to Mercedes and they would never find anytbing wrong with it.
I can't comment on the Sprinter because I didn't get that far but I will tell you that the Mercedes dealer in Calgary Alberta treated us so badly after we gave them our deposit and waited an extra year for them to deliver a vehicle that was not what we ordered that we are so _issed off that not only are we not buying a sprinter we will likely never let another Mercedes product park in our driveway. This is a bit awkward since my son drives a Mercedes. They were just that bad! I can't believe they can stay in business.
Cost of repairs the merc is expensive and most mechanics can not work on them unless the have the correct computer. Ford you can get parts for it in any hick town
You neglected to mention service and parts options. Ford parts and service are more likely to be easier to come by than Mercedes. That's a big plus. But I understand the Ford suspension is not that good. My pick is still Ford.
Sprinter cos the transit has a wet belt which keeps snapping and detonating motors . Sprinter needs injectors roughly every 100k but everything else will just last. My last one 2003 had 1.175m miles on original clutch and engine
I would not recommend anybody with the van ever considering an EcoBoost because it's a turbo and it's known to not be Dependable but inside of a van is also a much bigger pain in the ass to work on because you would have to remove the engine from underneath the band in order to access the turbo EcoBoost is only known to go about 200,000 miles before you need to do major things like replaced turbos you need to take that into consideration not just the amount of horsepower you again but whether or not you actually want to have to buy a new fan every 150,000 miles because the EcoBoost is it going to ride this morning as you want to use it this video clearly the Sprinter van is a better buy because it has a diesel diesel engines are known to go at least 1.5 million miles and are designed to do 3 million miles

I like the Ford Transit. The longest wheelbase on the Ford is 148 " where the Mercedes-Benz is 170" wheelbase if it's like a friend of mine is you have to bring it to Mercedes because nobody else can service it.
I agree with you on this. My father had purchased a Chevy Express 2500 new off the lot 20 years ago. Just last month he had to retire the van at 300,000 miles, the transmission was slipping and the cost to replace it just didn't make sense. I'm here watching videos comparing the Transit and Sprinter to get a better understanding on what problems are constantly being surfaced between their engines and transmissions. None of them are up to the standards and reliability of what was in the market 20 years ago.

I currently own a Transit passenger wagon and it has been super reliable so I am looking more at the Transit or Ram for the RV.
Is Toyota going to come out wirhba cargo van in the near future?
It is nice to know you can't get in the gas cap w/o having the door unlocked
I liked the Ford better. Thanks for the video
What is a payload comparison?
This cargo vans is crazy the prices don’t have nothing and they want 50 k plus
Maintenance, repairs, part pricws,, fuel mileage and fuel price all factors.
Transit is also a better drive.
does the transit come with 4x4 or awd?
Ive driven both for my job and if I had to purchase with my own money I woukd go with Ford. Theyre both good, difference in purchase price and maintenance makes me choose Ford.
Ford mainly because is easier to find a place for the services and repairs.
will transit deseil go 1mil miles?
I am very interested in either the Mercedes Sprinter or Ford Transit for the purpose of commercial use, such as construction. My biggest concern for a Van is its reliability, most importantly its engine and transmission. I am looking to buy a brand new van, so it will be definitely a 2023, but I can't find anything about the pros and cons of my concern, yet what problems are faced with both engines and transmission. Can I get more information about both vans? I loved the video, seeing the full walk-around and comparison of the exterior and interior of the vans, but I wish to get more info on their performance.
There's lots of video on UA-cam about the pros and cons between the van's but from what I seen it's hands down ford transit
Did you travel over the country in either of them for any length of time?
Does anyone know if the Ford Transit is more reliable than the Sprinter Gasoline 4 cylinder?
Thanks for the review.
Diesel vs Gas. Long term wise for work.
Ford Transit... it's a no Brainerd from a service perspective unless you stay in a city all the time! Ford's can be serviced anywhere.
Can’t you get the powerstroke in the ford
A locked fuel door is a must in transport
in my country merc sprinter is considered luxury car
Can someone compare how to voice call audio sounds in both vans?
I would take the Transit. Diesel is 1/3 more expensive than gas, so fuel cost is awash.
transit are monstrous in power output
16:46 Promaster not Transit minor whoopsieee
Lol Yes!
Cost of repairs the merc is expensive and most mechanics can not work on them unless the have the correct computer. Ford you can get parts for it in any hick town
Transit hands down.
Sprinter hands down
One mech. told me stay away from ecoboost engines. hard to work on.
You kept repeating that the Mercedes has leather. It doesn't. Look at your window sticker under upholstery. Leatherette.
Transit hands down. Cost is lower. Easier to get repairs where ever you are. I love my transit.
You neglected to mention service and parts options. Ford parts and service are more likely to be easier to come by than Mercedes. That's a big plus. But I understand the Ford suspension is not that good. My pick is still Ford.
Which ones bigger?
My MB 170ft High Roof
ford is taller Mb is longer
I fell sorry for people who fall for the front end looks of the sprinter and get stuck having Transit FOMO
Jesus Crickets.....
Can ANYBODY on you tube do an adequate MECHANICAL REVIEW...
I don't need any aesthetic reviews bulbs....
I can decide on my own what I like or not ...
I want deets about the motor plant, transmission, warranty...cost of ownership... maintenance costs ..common mech issues...
IDGAF about your aesthetic perspectives
Have fun trying to go up a steep hill with the Sprinters horsepower.
I will choose a Mercedes over any car anytime any day 😅
I like the Ford Transit. The longest wheelbase on the Ford is 148 " where the Mercedes-Benz is 170" wheelbase if it's like a friend of mine is you have to bring it to Mercedes because nobody else can service it.
Can you add seats to these vans if you want?
What about the Ram Promaster
Its a front wheel drive with a crappy Chrysler powertrain. Too bad, as it was designed with a small fuel efficient diesel in mind.
Which one would you choose for yourself?
The winner is the Chevy Express with a 6.6 L V8 engine that comes with 401 horsepower from the factory.
None of them are up to the standards and reliability of what was in the market 20 years ago.
you seem a little too stuck up on the name merc, in Europe most people get ford transit, goes forever and not cost so much and faster
