As a Protestant, I have questioned my stance on birth control as long as I could remember. When I was 18, I decided I never wanted to use it. I believe articulated birth control/condemns is playing God. NFP is healthy, efficient, and most of all obedience to God.

    Pray the Holy Rosary.
Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I am not catholic, but it’s so wonderful hearing your testimony. We got married young and used birth control. I didn’t understand how it worked and didn’t know my greatest blessings in life would be my children. Since we tried to get pregnant with our first we have not used birth control. 8 years in March and three beautiful boys later. We had a rough road to a full term pregnancy with three miscarriages. I am thankful for my journey. It is also very encouraging to know you didn’t have your first until 32 years old. I am always very concerned about my age, but that’s something I need to hand over to God. I am currently 33 with a 5, almost 6 year old, 3.5 year old and 13 month old. We are hoping for a fourth sometime in the next year and a half.

Hi Heather! Thanks for sharing your faith journey. My husband and I are very devout Catholics and used to use NFP, but since listening to a number of teaching on NFP in the Church, we have since ceased NFP practice, since hearing the TRUE Church teaching on NFP, and learning that when NFP isn't used for a grave reason, then it becomes grave sin. My husband and I didn't know this until we recently listened to a holy priest tell the truths about what the Church and popes teach on NFP, even citing teachings from most recent popes (St. John Paul II and Pope Benedict, as well as others). We have 5 beautiful girls, ages 4, 7, 7, 8 and 15. We also have 7 little ones in Heaven, having lost our last 4 children in a row, since our youngest. I am currently 43 years old, and my husband and I are always open to life. So many people think that we shouldn't be having children in our 40s and 50s, and that it's just too old, and the dangers too prominent. Well, I say to them that the Good Lord knows much better than we do, and when our time to not have any more children ceases, Our Lord ensures that it will happen through natural means. The purpose of menopause is to cease that monthly fertility that gives way to life because God knows that most old people can't care for young children, and that children need parents to raise them to adulthood!
I can appreciate your circumstance, as being a little different from ours, and in your case, there may be times when NFP would be allowed. I have had all of our children naturally, without a single C-section, even our beloved identical, twin girls. I understand that C-sections can be more challenging and difficult from which to recover. I also want you to know that I am not insinuating that any of our journey applies to you with any certainty. I am simply sharing my journey, as you do, as well.
One of the recent videos I watched was on a beautiful marriage series by Sensus Fidelium's Fr. Rippinger, a priest and exorcist.. a very good man of the faith, who tells it like it is. I would also highly recommend watching the entire marriage series by the same priest. It is absolutely wonderful! I hope this video helps you. There are others on NFP by Sensus Fidelium, as well, that were very excellent teachings, and it brought a lot of clarification to what Our Lord and the Church expect of us in regards to procreation. I understand that you are also a very devout Catholic, and respect your beautiful testimony and sharing. I say, in advance, I share this video with you with no judgment at all or to instigate any decision changes for you and your family, but I know that I only hoped that someone had shared this same one with me years ago, had it existed! It's not a very old video...lol! If the Lord speaks to you through it, that is wonderful, and if you find guidance through another means, that is wonderful, as well. I felt compelled to share because I wish I had known what the Church really says about NFP, and wished someone had told me years ago, and I felt a significant prompting of the Holy Spirit.
I also want you to know that our family is praying your 54 Day Novena Rosary every evening with you, during our family Rosary and prayer time. I have just recently found your youtube channel and watched a number of your videos, and I want you to know that they have been a blessing to me. God bless you, my dear sister in Christ. Thank you for sharing your life and your faith! Continue to be a light in the world! Here's the link to the video, and I sure hope that you watch it! :-)

Loved your story - thank you for sharing! I feel the same way that artificial conception control is our way of playing God. My husband got a vasectomy immediately after our 2nd child, and about a year and a half later I deeply regretted that decision. I never wanted that to happen, but my husband didn’t want to see me ill from hormonal contraceptives (I have used a few different methods in the past - all with physically negative side effects - and before finding Christ). I wanted to try NFP, but I guess he didn’t want to “deal with it,” for lack of better terms. However, since sharing my feelings with him and having many discussions about the situation, my husband has decided to get a reversal, praise God! We will be using NFP (along with prayer, first and foremost) to conceive and possibly give my body a break, be the Lord’s will and way. Thank you again! Aloha & blessings ❤️

Great video! Thanks for being so open and so sincere. I got pregnant on my honeymoon and entered into marriage knowing I was fertile during honeymoon time ! I felt called to be open, vs refraining from consummating my marriage .
I can honestly say that God has provided for my husband, Baby and I. I work full time and struggled with returning to work and getting a caregiver but it’s all coming together ! Every family is different and knowing when you and your spouse feel ready to have another child (if at all) is truly between y’all and God like you said. With being open to life, God sometimes will bless you with a child even when you don’t FEEL ready but like you said, it does come together !
My daughter’s name was selected before my husband and I dated and I went into labor on the feast day of her namesake saint! What a major confirmation from God that was for me.
I am NOT surrounded by people who subscribe to proLife and no contraception, so walking this path has difficult, sometimes moreso because I care too much what others may think ! . Following God and embarking on the adventure is so rewarding thus far. Thanks for encouraging us all and please continue to post! So glad I came across your channel

God bless you. My husband and I joined the Church 10 years ago and also faithfully live by the Church's teachings. I chose St. Gianna Molla when we were Confirmed because I want to be willing to sacrifice even my life for love of my faith and my children.
We have 6 children and I also use a variation of the sympto-thermal method, which seems to work well for me.
Living according to the teachings of the Church can be challenging, but you're right--we can't risk our eternal souls for temporal convenience. :)

I'm Eastern Orthodox and I am a huge supporter of NFP. I wish I can marry a very devout Christian lady one day who believes in NFP because I want to have 5 kids and I want to give myself completely to her. I admire every lady who is pregnant, especially a lady who has many kids. I need to live my life in a way that attracts ladies like that.

My husband and I love NFP... We are actually expecting our first 😀. We use a fertility tracker called daysy and we love it... It takes your temp and gives you a green light on infertile days and a red life on fertile. I have friends who use the lady comp machine... These are both in line with the Catholic Church and help you learn more about your body!

Also I just wanted to clarify that the Marquette method uses the clearblue fertility monitor, not an ovulation kit. I don't want you to buy the wrong thing 😊

This is a beautiful testimony-the honesty is much appreciated. So glad I found your channel. I switched to Marquette after my 3rd pregnancy (which was my 4th boy haha) and I LOVE it! Do you like it? We are now expecting boy number 5-found out two weeks before my husband left for his deployment so I was so upset he was going to miss so much. But I LOVE that you said the beautiful thing about NFP is that it’s NOT about what I want-it’s totally given to God and we allow Him to work His will. That brought a lot of peace to me so thank you! Hi Heather. I absolutely love your page, I just have one question and I ask it out of complete respect. In your situation your doctor told you that it would be unsafe to have more pregnancies, luckily she was wrong! But what about in situations where the doctor isn't wrong and a woman gets pregnant? Is the Church okay with mother and/or baby dying over using artificial birth control? Again, I ask this in total respect and will have no judgement in any answer given.

I am a horrible Catholic. NFP sounds like just unplanned pregnancy and that scares me. Having a baby would be the worst thing for me to provide for my family. I worry about losing my career. Not being able to afford another baby with my other child. I certainty can't afford private school for two kids. So as much as I love God and Jesus, there is no way I can do NFP. I appreciate you sharing your story. I do feel horrible being the worst catholic but guilt has always been apart of this faith in my spiritual journey so I except it. This is just my biggest fear. The risk of bringing a baby into the world that I dont want would be so irresponsible. I am exploring the route of sterilization. Lose my soul. Okay. I am not bringing in unwanted souls. If I am not forgiven so be it. I just can't be that irresponsible and would rather avoid the risk all together.

    • @clothyoriginal

Others may say, that if god gave you another baby, your world may change for the better. Trust God, He knows best and all that. I like that answer but it is hard to trust without knowing! I feel when nfp is done properly, it's still contraception, no different to using a condem. It's something I struggle with too. My grandmother would have lived if it wasn't for catholic priests, firstly she needed birth control, denied, but still had to submit to her husband so had many high risk pregnancies which lead to her death, after the priest refused to allow a hysterectomy. I struggle to believe it was gods will and plan to leave all her babies as orphans and to allow those children to grow up in horrible suffering.

What is the efficacy of Creighton? NFP methods are so different to one another. If a method is unusable I don't see the point. We use the daysy and are very happy with it. No surprise babies either. And please don't do the ovulation kit. It's the same oestrogen marker as Creighton. The oestrogen is time dependent, as in there's fluctuating throughout the day, which make the strips useless. I recommend reading Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler to understand what happens in your body.

I am trying to find solid proof from the Bible with nfp. I have bipolar and already have a 4 year old. Thru safety myself and my family it is not in the best interest for us to have another child. I am struggling with why nfp is true and just. As just becoming catholic during Easter I have done intensive research on what the Bible says to justify what us mankind says. It's said God speaks thru the Catholic Church but I feel more at ease with the actual words from the Bible itself. I believe what the Bible says but have a hard time believing what comes out of the mouth of man. This is the next struggle I am praying about. Any Bible verses that anyone has for me would be greatly appreciated. I am praying for God to open my eyes on this issue.

    • @fouinyff6792

I don't think Bible will tell you directly "NFP is fine" because I think the knowledge for NFP is pretty recent (compare to the Bible). NFP is using God's creation. God has created women such as we are fertile only a few days per cycle. Man are fertile 365 days / year...not woman. Why has God done this? God purposely created women such as we have days where sexual relationship can happen without risk of pregnancy (when there is a good reason to prefer not to have one at that time). If God still wants a woman using NFP to be pregnant, this will happen.
Jewish have a rule in the Torah that prevent woman to have sex the 14 first days (I think?) of their cycle. So this is explained as the women being impure but this is also a good "NFP" method for many woman..Say if your cycle is 28 days (which is the average) and if you ovulate on day 14 and abstain on day 13 and 14, that is basically NFP...I don't know, that just my own thought but anyway, I don't think you can find better than the Catholic Teaching which completely makes sense on this..it is totally logic while still being open to God's will.

This isn't a topic I have a clear opinion of. You say it all worked out for you (which is great!) but others have died from it. People say god has a plan and gods will and stuff like that but God also gave us free will and personal responsibility to use also. I don't believe that free will and gods plan can always work together. My own family has a really tragic story about this that has affected future generations lives also. If I didn't have that story then I'd be all for nfp. I'm pretty much infertile so it's not something I really need to think about, I have 1 miracle baby and anymore would just be beyond a miracle. I'd love to know you're opinion on fertility treatment. As far as I thought, the Church didn't have a clear cut opinion on it but I see individual catholic churches giving different information on it.

Like to let them know as I listen many traditional Catholics priest ordained in the Authentic Roman Rite myself too using Faith and Reason these Priest believe that NFP is another way to contraception mentality as much as is of natural means is wrong , simply Venial Sin may lead to Mortal sin . Therefore try abstinence or go on giving birth at a risk of one’s life. Piece of suggestion about this wait until you turn 40 plus many we witness 40 plus women giving birth more naturally no C section, biologically women body is reached the height of maturity.Simply good luck &God Bless.

I am also from a large family that was always opened to life and God's will. Because we saw the absolute beauty in such way of living, my husband and I were married and we too wanted nothing more than to do Gods will and be open to life. Which isn't hard to do if you love babies and children and humanity. When we were honored and blessed with our first child I labored for 19hours. That ended in a c-section. I labored 27hours to give birth to my second child. Inspite of everything that labor also ended in a c-section . Only after the doctor informed us was due to being on the verge of a uterine rupture. So with my 3rd and 4th children's births I schedule c-section of course. With every c-section I was told how thin my uterus was as well as told by the doctors that I should absolutely have a tubal ligation.
I refused. We began to use NFP after our 3rd child to give my self time to heal between pregnancies. NFP is simply abstaining at the womans fertile time of the month. It's that simple.
My husband and I have 5 children.
However my 5th birth took a even greater toll on me and I almost lost my life. But we thank Our Dear Lord for the 5 beautiful blessings he has given us. 🙏Thank you Dear Lord for NFP. It is a gift that gives a mother time to heal in between pregnancies through a method that simply is abstaining a few days every month. You have given us NFP as a gift to value the way you designed the womans body to work so that a baby would never be preyed upon through contraceptive pills & abortifacients. Help the whole world to see this. Help us all to see NFP as the gift you've given us and help us to never use it for selfish reasons and always use it in accordance with your designs .Amen🙏

Maternity care in US is pretty bad if you are too slow to deliver they kind of push the C section idea even though it might not be the best thing....personally i think there are other ways that could make things easier for woman giving birth but people always want you to have the baby laying down hmm...im just thinking why that is when a midwife might say differently orbirthvillageindia i dont work for them at all but i know about them and their success stories from c to v . i could be wrong maybe you really really needed that C section but i think sometimes the medics push it too much and thats not OK

I feel so broken. I had a tubal ligation after my 4th c-section. I felt pressured to have it done from my Dr, but in the end it was my choice. I did confess this sin recently but the priest didn’t advise me on what to do. Instead he talked to me about a smaller sin that I had confessed. Do you know how I can heal my soul after this? I did this over 7 years ago and I regret it so much.

I just want to give you a big hug! Have you thought of talking to a priest about it more one on one? I know that once you have gone to confession you are completely forgiven however sometimes we feel just so much guilt. Have you asked God if there is anything that he would want you to do? I would say pray and ask God for help and really truly listen to what he says you might be surprised with what he is trying to let you know.

      Hello Karla,
I feel your pain in this. You may not see my comment but hope you do. God loves you by giving you the gift of contrition. He has forgiven you completely I believe. You still need to practice NFP so as not to reap the benefit of this litigation. It is a great way to do penance and still live like a Catholic couple. I love you dearly and God loves you more.

Just out of curiosity, why is the catholic church against condoms and the pull-out method, but is okay with a woman using natural family planning? I understand them being against hormonal methods, but all of the non-hormonal methods seem the same to me.

    • @fer55693
      @fer55693 6 років тому +2

Because condoms are not naturals and are not open to God's will.

    • @fouinyff6792
      @fouinyff6792 5 років тому +2

NFP is using God's creation. God has made women fertile only a few days a month, not every days...Gas has made this purposefully so we are just using that.
With NFP, God can still give you a child, even if you do it perfectly. So at the end, if God really wants to give you a child, He will.
Condoms will prevent God's will to happen, and obviously is not natural so that's exactly as hormonal pills. Pull out method is breaking the pleasure and the harmony of the relationship..man obviously have to "force" themself to pull out while God has legitimely given them this pleasure (with their wife).

I believe NFP and contraception are one and the same. One is prevention by a physical device and another is prevention by timing. God knows our hearts and intentions. I'm a Traditional Catholic and it makes me so sad seeing posters in Norvus ordo parishes permitting the use of NFP. These posters display couples on lavish beaches and backpacking atop gorgeous mountains. They are promotting free range marriage without the responsibility and blessings of children. There is a book called "NFP and the Christian Moral Code." Its excellent.

The Catholic Church wants us to alway do Gods will! And being open to having children is something that God calls most married couple too. That is the whole point of NFP being open to God's will:)

Have you read the Humanae Vitae? She used NFP for health reasons, which falls under “just causes”. Her health was in jeopardy in between pregnancies, which falls under the rules of the encyclical.

It is probably wrong to use natural family planning. It is a very "legalistic" view of the gift of sexuality. Love isn't love if there is no risk. Best to have many, the gift of cooperating in creation with God. Giving more souls for God to love and to love and glorify God.

Not every holy striving Catholic family is called to have many children. In fact , some people who DO feel that calling and also are blessed with the fertility, desire and lifestyle to do so can fall into the sin of pride. there are so many reasons why a married couple may not be able to or may decide to NOT have tons of kids. Some want many, some dont. And beyond wants and desires...some can and some can’t .
I DO agree with you in the context of our current society’s attitude that more than 2 is too much. There is a lacking of generosity and even charity when it comes to having kids AND how we treat larger families. But one extreme or the other won’t help shine a light in the world and share Christ teachings through his church to be open to life. My 2.5 cents 😃
      God bless 🙏🏾

Thanks for replying, I was not trying to be provocative. I have really been thinking about this over the last few years.
We are frightened to have many children, it seems that is true. We worry about the difficulties, both in terms of time and money. At least that are the reasons I hear. They are convincing, but worldly, aren't they?
Sex, in marriage, is a "good" and is a conduit for grace, but chastity is also...but I guess you both have to agree to the chastity. We have more privacy for sex now than people 100 years ago in smaller houses, yet they had more children, I find that interesting.
The west is coming up against a demographic wall, more baptized children are needed.

Cassious Dio I completely agree that we have a dichotomy! Homes and cars are bigger and family sizes smaller . I’ve cringed at comments where parents talk about how they had ONE child as a selfless act and it is selfish to have many kids. Really? Your providing certain activities and experiences to your child is a choice , yes but it’s not a requirement .
I think even within the realm of what folks can call “reasonable “ ie: food, clothing , experiences, entertainment...families will have different perspectives and values and it can still be moral. One family can say they only shop at consignment stores and if that other family did that, they could afford to have more kids. Another family can feel that they can better afford to help pay for their kids advanced education so that when their kids grow and become doctors , professors etc, they can serve others and be Christlike in that manner. But they could not afford that with 7 kids- only 3 on their income.
Heck, some families have ties abroad and have to afford the travel. It’s crucial to them for their families to know their roots. Some folks live in expensive areas.
I don’t think we can make a blanket statement for what is being worldly vs Christian.
Perhaps we have different perspectives and perhaps we just disagree on some aspects but I appreciate the discourse for sure! 🤗

Cassious Dio I have to clarify that I do agree about fearing money and time being worldly in the sense that we don’t rely on God enough to provide . I got married last year and had a honeymoon baby. I was so scared because as catholic as I am, I still was affected by friends and even people at work volunteering “advice” on how I should definitely wait a couple years before having kids. We also were financially strained ! But God provided and our baby has been a major blessing ! I walked in faith in deciding to not contracept, not avoid consummating my marriage during a very fertile honeymoon lol and living against the social grain I’m surrounded by
