Absolute ace... well done on your first solo.👊🏾 I got a friend training at Elstree as well. Can't wait to visit and try out the short runway! I'm a bit spoiled with the runway at North Weald.
Congratulations, love the video. I wish I could have captured my first solo on camera but it was long before GoPros! So long ago that I used to have a share with Ivan in a C150 (G-BCUH). You’ve lots of adventures in front of you, enjoy them.
I’ve actually done a chunk of the nav, as we had restrictions on circuits for the past couple of months so we jumped ahead. But I think landaways are Duxford, Oxford and Leicester. And we have a possibly fly out as well planned.
WOW! That was fantastic. Congratulations! I'm just starting out on my journey and would also like to record my first solo. Have you done a video on the cameras you used, sound and where to place them etc? I think it would help many people, and I would especially like to know how you managed to film the actual landing from the outside also. Thank you much!
Nice one. Reminds me of my first solo at Redhill - wish I had recorded mine. Was there a reason you didn’t use the prefix student when making your radio calls though?
I believe you only need to use STUDENT on first call to an ATU, and in emergencies. Since the Tower already knew who I was (they knew about the solo/ex14, name of captain etc which were updated over the radio seconds before) there would be no requirement for the STUDENT prefix. (Just checked with CAP 413 and this appears to be correct)
@@WhiskeyAlphaPilot This was the same process that I used, prefix on initial call. Sometimes I added it again when ATC rattled of a clearance at a million miles per hour .... Say Again Student Golf Sierra Echo !!!!
Nicely done! I start at FTL tomorrow!
Excellent!! Enjoy
"Just imagine James is beside you" 😄😄 love it!
I'm not sure if that is good or bad :-)
Belated congratulations, you are now using your newfound skills to their full........even made guest on Flyer Lifestream!
Thankyou!!! Yes Flyer Livestream was certainly fun :-)
Congratulations!!!!
Thank you!!
Very good; I did my first solo at Elstree back in the days it was wall to wall Grumman AA5s.
Its changed a bit. Now mainly PA28s cessnas and the posh stuff :-)
Congratulations. Well done.
Thank you! It was certainly a day to remember!!

We use North Weald as a diversion, and a friend flies HELIMED from there too.
Congratulations! Great achievement. All smiles and thumbs up at the end, brings back memories of my first solo 👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Such a great moment, congratulations! That is nice you have a video from it, well done you.
Thanks. I try to film most of my flights, both for entertainment and to review - glad you like it!!
@@WhiskeyAlphaPilot I do the same, it is nice coming back and see the places you have been to :)

Thanks. Ivan is a great guy!!
Good work, now for some solo consolidation, then the fun starts ..... Navigation 😃
Do you know yet, where your "Land away" destinations will be?

@@WhiskeyAlphaPilot awesome, that should be a good route.
Nav was my favourite part of PPL training.
Keep up the good work 👍🏻

I'm in the process of doing so now.
@@WhiskeyAlphaPilot Wonderful!!! Thank you very much sir. I look forward to watching and learning.
Nice! Well done.
Thanks!
Well done buddy! Great feeling eh? Have some equalisation issues?
It was. Yup I always had issues with equalisation even when diving, but I think I had the tail end of cold.
