Today I built a 1000VA transformer to test the inverter. This transformer weighs about 10.5Kg with 8.6Kg core. I usually quickly calculate 1Kg core corresponds to 120W. With 8.6Kg core we will have about 1000W. Primary 7 turns of 12mm (6AWG) wire. Secondary 220 turns of 1.3mm wire. No-load current 0.1A .

Input coil is primary, not secondary. Likewise, the output coil is secondary, not primary

You can increase the secondary current but lower voltage,
Higher voltage but lower current.
You didn't mention about the primary coil insulation black tube material. Can you specify the material of the black tube.

Why is a 7v transformer used for a 12v inverter? Doesn't it draw more current? You calculated 1 V per winding, but for some reason, 1 V does not appear per winding.

Where did you buy this transformer?
You swapped the nomenclature. The input is the primary winding and the output is the secondary winding.
I use it for inverter. 7V is primary. 220V is secondary.
@@PhdHung The primary winding (input) should be closest to the core to achieve the best magnetic induction. It's not critical. The thick wire winds well to a larger diameter and cools better.

But there is an agreement that the primary winding, which is usually a thin wire and winds well on a small core diameter without damage, better adheres to the core and improves magnetic induction, while the secondary winding, which is usually a thick wire, winds well without damage. to a larger diameter and because more amperes flow through them (depending on the purpose), it is also better cooled. You can do it however you want. You can safely put green-yellow wire on L, black on N and blue on PE in the walls and boxes at home. It will work, too, but your successor will curse you, just as your transformer will curse you if he only wants to rewind the secondary winding, which is quite common.

you are right, but the steel core in my country has low silicon content. So just to be on the safe side, I think only 1000W should be used.

Not bigger is better. You should choose between 47 and 100uH.

Yes, EGS002 has a SPWM frequency of 22Khz. You know, Iron Transformer will have a hard time operating at high frequencies. Adding an inductor will help filter out the high frequency components. The no-load current will decrease. Performance will increase.

I have trouble buying reasonably priced transformer cores. Can I grind open a MOT (Microwave Oven Transformer), retain the primary winding and add an apropriate amount of secondary windings, then weld it shut again? Or are there any fundamental flaws in the core-construction of MOTs?
There are, They saturate at nominal voltage, but yeah, you could do it. But remember that it'll get very hot/burn up if it's ran at nominal rated current
I know this is super old but MOTs are pushed way beyond their capability inside consumer ovens to cut the cost of manufacturing and that isn't a problem since microwave don't generally run for more than 5 minutes. So using the transformers for longer than that will degrade and eventually kill it

I bought it at the store, pretty cheap. about 1.5 USD for 1 Kg core.

How the inductor reduce no load current
I use this transformer for inverter. The inductor is mounted on the SPWM side. It will filter high frequency components before entering the transformer. performance will increase dramatically.

What is the relationship between VA of transformer from ampere. How to calculate VA from ampere. Should i consider primary voltage or secondary voltage?
VA is a product of voltage and current
By assuming a va power say 1KW and supply voltage eg.230v we can calculate current
