What a beautiful dog. Just for an example my brother had two male Amstaffs that loved eachother so much, always cuddling, one or both of them were even fixed and then after several years for no reason they fought to the death. Be aware of that, and these were not even game bred dogs. Everyone should be educated on the exercise these dogs need, their strengths and weaknesses. Everyone should know how to break up a dog fight that owns an american bulldog, amstaff, apbt etc.
Yes thanks brother. I've always had German Shepherds. My last Shepherd was poisoned A friend of my daughter had been raiseing APBT's since he was 18 years old. Id never heard of one. He called me 2 weeks after my Shepherd had passed. Me,my son,and 2 grandsons went to look at the puppies The daddy was black and white. Beautiful dog. The moma was black. They were 6 weeks old. 6 litter mates all black were still sucking on the moma. There was a black and white female that got out the pen and ran up to the big dogs. She looked just like her daddy black and white. I knew right away she was the pick of the litter. My 10 year old grandson picked her up and said granddaddy i like this one. I looked up and said thank you Jesus. I bought her right then. She was the only black and white puppy and by far already independent at 6 weeks old. I payed for the puppy and asked him to keep her for 2 weeks so i could get my house ready. Any rate the next week he called me and said you need to come get this puppy for shes an escape artist. So i did and i named her Layla after Eric Clapton the best guitar player in the world I raised Layla in the house with me. She turned 4 on July 10th of this year She's slept in the bed with me every since. I've always bought books on every full blooded dog I've owned except houndogs. The book said that they require a lot of exercise and they don't make a good guard dog. Thats wrong cause it's just Layla and me. In fact shes went under the covers and is asleep right now. She's very protective of my house, and outside. She scares alot of people because she's so protective of me. My opinion is it's how you raise a dog. It's just me and Layla and she sleeps with me every moment i lay down. I know for a fact that if you raise a dog,just you and the dog that the dogs going to be protective of you and your property. I learned at 14 years young by my best friends daddy how to approach a dog. He taught me to not show any sign of fear towards a dog. Thats true probably 80% of the time. Any rate Layla is so protective that she scares people. I like that ,however friends of mine I'll tell them try not to show fear towards her. After a few minutes they are able to pet Layla I love her so much Since I've had her I've had 6 strokes and was in the hospital last December and had 2 emergency surgerys She knows when im sick. And she will cuddle up to me when im not feeling well. She's my pride and joy. When she was 10 months old she attacked a hound dog in my yard and went right for the throat. I pulled her off of the dog she had blood all over her mouth. I brought her inside and washed her face and it wasn't her blood. I've had people harassing me for about 6 years now. I caught one up a tree and he came down i pulled out my 40 cal and told him i only wanted to talk to him. I held the gun down never pointed it at him. He tucked his hair under his hat and started walking away. So i took the shock collar and her regular collar off and i said catch him Layla, she was only 10 months old and she took off. After about 10 minutes i called her and she wouldn't come so fired a round in to the top of a pine tree and she came and sat down right beside me. I wish that she would have been at least 2 years old, for she would have caught him and held him until i got there. Any rate shes 4 now and now she has her head laying across my feet. I live 33 acres, she has plenty of room to run and play. But because of my bad back and other health issues im not able to let her get the exercise she needs. I'll hold a plastic bottle up as high as i can and she'll jump and grab the bottle out of my hand. She's so athletic she will run so fast and jump so high. My opinion the APBT is the best breed of bulldogs in the country. Thanks brother for your expertise on the American Pit Bull Terrier. I've probably bored every one with my story. I have had apbt for the last 30 years they are great with kids and smart as a whip never had a problem with them getting along with are rotts or cannie corso . I can't even say ride before she is in the car great family pets
This is the real pitbull, I had a very similar looking dog from the plumbers alligator line, the Aligator was his grand sire. Such a beautiful animal, I will getting another once I retire.
We got an APBT female from a family who had two, male and female, very nice parents, not registered or anything 15 puppies in the litter! And I know I know, shouldn't but from backyard breeders. That wasn't what they were doing. The dogs are neutered and spayed now, but anyway, we are in love with this dog! We've between us have had many many dogs in our lifetime, including other pit bulls or pit mixes, and she is the funniest and smartest of all! And there's something about her that's just different. She loves us equally. My husband has his little chiweenie and she's a one man dog. But our pit is devoted to both of us. She hates if we're not all together in the same room at the same time! We live in the country and so she gets lots of fresh air and sunshine and plenty of space. I understand the controversy and believe both sides of the debate have merit. I'm always more diligent with a pit bull breed. You have to respect the dog and know that you can't always be one hundred percent certain that a tragedy could happen.
I use to have an ABPT that was blue. And there have been blue APBTs in the early 1900's, the debate was not that blues were not ABPTs but that they were not as game. There was a fight at Medicine Park Oklahoma in 1936 between a Red APBT and a Blue APBT.
Great video. I love the fact that you were totally honest about this dog and what comes along with owning a dog like this. I have an American Bulldog that has been the all around perfect dog. Now that she is approaching 4years of age she is beginning to become dog aggressive, even with a dog in our home that is no threat to her whatsoever. All of these types of dogs must be monitored constantly and kept socialized. I hope she stays ok and doesn't threaten any other dogs. I love my dog but I have seen her in action and I don't want her killing any innocent dogs.
I had a male American bulldog that was the most dog aggressive dog I have owned, but he was beautiful with people , Currently got a female pit bull and she is so far very friendly with other dogs , it’s hard to know what you are getting , they are all a bit individual
@@camwells9726 You're absolutely right, they are all individuals. With that said there are definitely certain breeds that are more prone to certain behaviors. I saw a video yesterday with different clips of AB's being dog aggressive, in each one there are women walking them and they couldn't control them, or some idiot owners left doors open, etc. and their dog ran outside and attacked an innocent dog. People shouldn't own a dog that cannot control, even if that's on a lead. Good luck with your pup Cam. 👍
My dog looks just like this except that he's red. Lean and muscular. The most intelligent dog I've ever had. He's highly trainable, wants to please. He's amazing around my ducks and chickens and protects them from hawks and foxes. My neighbor's back yard GSD breeding stud climbed our 8' fence and came into my yard and tried to corner my 4 year old boy against the garage. I was gardening when this happened. It didn't end well for the GSD. Once the fight started I couldn't stop it. One thing for sure once these Pit Bulls love you they protect you with everything they have.
About 10 years ago I picked up a young pup from the pound that ended up looking exactly like gumbo. His name was fuji. He was the best dog I've ever been around. Loved people and dogs but ate a few chickens. He killed a skunk and ate the ass end off of it. Gave off an odor for a few weeks after that. I'll never forget that dog.
Gumbo looks so much like my female pit Luna, she is blue fawn and I know the opinions on that colour but she's almost identical to Gumbo. I am so lucky to have a dog of this quality here in the UK👌
I have an American Pitbull that's almost two (June) and she hasn't shown a lick of aggression towards anything..every dog she's been in contact with, she loves and runs and plays with them...now her younger brother (Cash) is an American Pitbull and German Shepherd mix and those two like to play fight alot but who doesn't do that with a younger brother...these dogs wouldn't hurt a fly if it's wing was already broken but yet I still have people who walk to the other side of the road if I take them on walks..most lovable dogs ever...
Love this video! I just adopted a 3-year old pitbull terrier and this describes him perfectly. Great with my kids, super easy to potty train and I have to be cautious around other dogs. I don't take him around smaller dogs because of his alpha dog tendencies he's shown, especially towards other male dogs.

And Hulk is a sweet big-ol' mut that will die prematurely, but he appears to be a real nice MOOSE, not a Hulk. You have to stay south and look hard to find TRUE American Pit Bull Terriers...more times than not, it's gonna mean embracing true "Dog-Men", and that means game-bred, which means fighting dogs. And more times than not, it's gonna be hard to even meet with these breeders of TRUE APBTs, much less acquire one of their gladiators. Not always the case but, so many breeders are fascinated with bulking-up their yards that you have to be leery of even big name APBT kennels these days, no matter what BS pedigrees they present you with. Wont be long and they will be selling these mutts by the pound. If you go down south and talk to dog-people about even your 70 pound Pit Bull Terrier, they will laugh in your face, and make fun of you, AND your dog. A true AmStaff should not really ever weigh 70 pounds. Selective breeding for show should NEVER add that much weight to what started out as game-dogs. You show me a 70 pound Pit Bull, and I will show you a mutt. I raised/kept, but never bred APBTs for a bunch of years. I used them as the ultimate hunting dogs and family companions. Problem was, 40 years of having this breed, I never once could get my game-dogs to walk in a pack with other random dogs, and that was with major socialization, from small pups...or attempts at it.They all "Turned-on" between 2 to 3 years of age, and loved people like crazy, but wanted to decimate any and every dog, be it small like a Poodle, or large like a Mastiff...it's genetically encoded. It's also exactly what I was told to expect. So when I hear stories about these alleged APBTs walking with groups of other dogs at dog-parks, I chuckle. If you have a true APBT, you have a game-dog. A game-dog will instinctively turn-on at some point, with or without your input.

I've had thirteen dogs since, mostly Carver bred dogs. I've read about and have seen pictures of Boudreau dogs but yours was the best look I've had yet. I'm holding on the kennel name. Gumbo looks like he's right up my alley. Good luck with him.
My dog is identical to Gumbo my boy off Eli lines also he's in my display pic. My boy is just like Gumbo he is tolerant of his pack and smaller breeds but I NEVER mix him with unknown dogs even if they're females. My boy a fully trained pp dog with many many pain staking hours put into him and will dual bite with a few select dogs but with that being said we do not go anywhere where there is a potential for off leash dog contact. My boy has the prick ears and drive for days but just like Gumbo great in the house very smart and very people orientated. Love the real apbt 😍

I grew up with game dogs and they are the best!!! the dog aggression is what it is with game lines but I love em anyways. if you haven't noticed my profile Icon, it's my dog champ i had growing up, who was a blend jeep/redboy/chinaman. hands down the most impressive dog I've ever been around in ever aspect . shout out to zeek and Brian Anderson for representing the most understood dog breed on the planet. This is the real pitbull, I had a very similar looking dog from the plumbers alligator line, the Aligator was his grand sire. Such a beautiful animal, I will getting another once I retire.

We got an APBT female from a family who had two, male and female, very nice parents, not registered or anything 15 puppies in the litter! And I know I know, shouldn't but from backyard breeders. That wasn't what they were doing. The dogs are neutered and spayed now, but anyway, we are in love with this dog! We've between us have had many many dogs in our lifetime, including other pit bulls or pit mixes, and she is the funniest and smartest of all! And there's something about her that's just different. She loves us equally. My husband has his little chiweenie and she's a one man dog. But our pit is devoted to both of us. She hates if we're not all together in the same room at the same time! We live in the country and so she gets lots of fresh air and sunshine and plenty of space. I understand the controversy and believe both sides of the debate have merit. I'm always more diligent with a pit bull breed. You have to respect the dog and know that you can't always be one hundred percent certain that a tragedy could happen.

I use to have an ABPT that was blue. And there have been blue APBTs in the early 1900's, the debate was not that blues were not ABPTs but that they were not as game. There was a fight at Medicine Park Oklahoma in 1936 between a Red APBT and a Blue APBT.
BOUDREAUX'S SKULL threw more than one blue dog in his time, the Bellons dogs are known for throwing blue every once in awhile
What bloodline was the blue dog you had. Tons of people say they have blue apbt but when they name the line turns out its heavy with am staff blood.
I had a triple bred redboy / jocko blue brindle, however, he was red/blue brindle, not buckskin and blue.

I have an American Bulldog that has been the all around perfect dog. Now that she is approaching 4years of age she is beginning to become dog aggressive, even with a dog in our home that is no threat to her whatsoever. All of these types of dogs must be monitored constantly and kept socialized. I hope she stays ok and doesn't threaten any other dogs. I love my dog but I have seen her in action and I don't want her killing any innocent dogs.

You're absolutely right, they are all individuals. With that said there are definitely certain breeds that are more prone to certain behaviors. I saw a video yesterday with different clips of AB's being dog aggressive, in each one there are women walking them and they couldn't control them, or some idiot owners left doors open, etc. and their dog ran outside and attacked an innocent dog. People shouldn't own a dog that cannot control, even if that's on a lead. Good luck with your pup Cam. 👍

My dog looks just like this except that he's red. Lean and muscular. The most intelligent dog I've ever had. He's highly trainable, wants to please. He's amazing around my ducks and chickens and protects them from hawks and foxes. My neighbor's back yard GSD breeding stud climbed our 8' fence and came into my yard and tried to corner my 4 year old boy against the garage. I was gardening when this happened. It didn't end well for the GSD. Once the fight started I couldn't stop it. One thing for sure once these Pit Bulls love you they protect you with everything they have.

About 10 years ago I picked up a young pup from the pound that ended up looking exactly like gumbo. His name was fuji. He was the best dog I've ever been around. Loved people and dogs but ate a few chickens. He killed a skunk and ate the ass end off of it. Gave off an odor for a few weeks after that. I'll never forget that dog.

I have an American Pitbull that's almost two (June) and she hasn't shown a lick of aggression towards anything..every dog she's been in contact with, she loves and runs and plays with them...now her younger brother (Cash) is an American Pitbull and German Shepherd mix and those two like to play fight alot but who doesn't do that with a younger brother...these dogs wouldn't hurt a fly if it's wing was already broken but yet I still have people who walk to the other side of the road if I take them on walks..most lovable dogs ever...

Love this video! I just adopted a 3-year old pitbull terrier and this describes him perfectly. Great with my kids, super easy to potty train and I have to be cautious around other dogs. I don't take him around smaller dogs because of his alpha dog tendencies he's shown, especially towards other male dogs.

No reason to curse out someone I recommend you do your research before blindly purchasing a dog because you want one. Sweet looking dog, that Gumbo is...I'm a little concerned about how thick his tail is, though. And Hulk is a sweet big-ol' mut that will die prematurely, but he appears to be a real nice MOOSE, not a Hulk. You have to stay south and look hard to find TRUE American Pit Bull Terriers...more times than not, it's gonna mean embracing true "Dog-Men", and that means game-bred, which means fighting dogs. And more times than not, it's gonna be hard to even meet with these breeders of TRUE APBTs, much less acquire one of their gladiators. Not always the case but, so many breeders are fascinated with bulking-up their yards that you have to be leery of even big name APBT kennels these days, no matter what BS pedigrees they present you with. Wont be long and they will be selling these mutts by the pound. If you go down south and talk to dog-people about even your 70 pound Pit Bull Terrier, they will laugh in your face, and make fun of you, AND your dog. A true AmStaff should not really ever weigh 70 pounds. Selective breeding for show should NEVER add that much weight to what started out as game-dogs. You show me a 70 pound Pit Bull, and I will show you a mutt. I raised/kept, but never bred APBTs for a bunch of years. I used them as the ultimate hunting dogs and family companions. Problem was, 40 years of having this breed, I never once could get my game-dogs to walk in a pack with other random dogs, and that was with major socialization, from small pups...or attempts at it.They all "Turned-on" between 2 to 3 years of age, and loved people like crazy, but wanted to decimate any and every dog, be it small like a Poodle, or large like a Mastiff...it's genetically encoded. It's also exactly what I was told to expect. So when I hear stories about these alleged APBTs walking with groups of other dogs at dog-parks, I chuckle. If you have a true APBT, you have a game-dog. A game-dog will instinctively turn-on at some point, with or without your input.

I've had thirteen dogs since, mostly Carver bred dogs. I've read about and have seen pictures of Boudreau dogs but yours was the best look I've had yet.

My dog is identical to Gumbo my boy off Eli lines also he's in my display pic. My boy is just like Gumbo he is tolerant of his pack and smaller breeds but I NEVER mix him with unknown dogs even if they're females. My boy a fully trained pp dog with many many pain staking hours put into him and will dual bite with a few select dogs but with that being said we do not go anywhere where there is a potential for off leash dog contact. My boy has the prick ears and drive for days but just like Gumbo great in the house very smart and very people orientated. Love the real apbt 😍
