Nothing brings me more joy than people appreciating Taeil's vocals. He's one of my favorite vocalists in the industry so it's quite frustrating to see how little attention he gets, even just in NCT.

And instead of taking a chance to finally praise him and talk about him everyone is igonring him once again. People should stop sleeping on him and appreciate him more. Hes the sweetest and so caring! And of course very talented!!!

people often don't consider jaehyun as a good vocalist just because we don't see him do high notes....you don't have to be able to sing high to be good at singing
L. Richards Jaehyun reminds me of SNSD’s Tiffany - absolutely gorgeous voices especially when they’re singing within their ranges
Thats because he is a baritone and the others are tenors, he's forte stay in low notes and NCT songs barely showcased his voice at his forte.
Bcs high in baritone and high in tenor are different. Ofcourse it'll tortured him if he should go as high as his tenor members, but so far he has potential to do high notes in baritone range.
@Alexander Zschusschen Bcs people crazily amazed with super high notes, you might see many tenor kpop idols hit as high as soprano range. It might hurts them actually. And like as i said high in baritone and high in tenor is different, example for a baritone F4 is quite high, but for tenor it's their middle thing. But if tenor should follow baritone range, it's quite low for them to follow. And i dunno why Pop scene full of tenor singers for male, maybe bcs they can reach higher or lighter? 🤔🤔🤔

You are extremely correct about Jungwoo being very quiet even when speaking. NCTzens used to have to turn up their volume to hear him speak when he first debuted since he was a lot shyer and soft-spoken.
Wen i first started listening to nct(7th sense) i noticed doyoung n taeil beautiful vocal n i can tell who is who...but wen jungwoo came along i sometimes mistake his lines for doyoung...i hope jungwoo practice n improve more...cos i like his vocals...one of my fav in nct 127.
And right now he has a place of the loudest and dorkiest nct member, what an improvement

Heachan kinda reminds me of D.O. Not the vocal but their position in the group. They both may not be as good as the top 2 but their voices always so addicting and memorable. That makes you want to listen to the song over and over again. And not to mention, haechan is just 19 years old!! He for sure has room to grow into a vocalist with great technicality and uniqueness.
I agree! And also, Haechan’s runs and DO’s runs... my gosh. They add this r&b-ish sound to the group.
Both of these guys are my bias in Exo and NCT. I got hooked by their vocals and I always end up repeating their lines.
yeah their voice are my favourite in each group and another thing I adore them apart from timbre is about their musicality agility and natural groove, but do's technique are much better and more consistent. hope haechan improve soon.

i personally think no one comes close to taeil. just listen to him sing a few times and you can tell, he could be on par with exo's best vocalists. he just has that raw skill and unmatched technique. his mixed voice is phenomenal too. his vocals just stands out the most and makes nct's songs so much better. Please put some respect on this man's name. MOON TAEIL, NCT'S BEST VOCALIST!
Taeil is amazing. He and poor forgotten Xiaojun are the best vocalists in NCT, though I lean more toward Xiaojun bring better in terms of musicality.

haechan and taeil are my favorite vocals out of nct. i’ve followed nct since predebut and i remember watching haechan sing on mickey mouse club and i didn’t like his voice very much. he was 15 then and i think his voice has gotten so much better as he’s matured! i love his tone and i think he’s pretty amazing for not being a main vocal.

Maybe that time he is in peburty stage in which some boys in that stage cannot sing because of changing of voice which their voice goes out of pitch but haechan managed it properly..

As I was mentioning before he's my bias wrecker and one of my favorites voices in Nct but I was just stating what I knew about the original vocal trio of Nct 127 being Taeil, Doyoung and Jaehyun. But apart from that all nct vocals are amazing and I love them all. 😊 And sorry if there is any mistake English is not my first language
Doyoung is one of my favourite vocalists bc he sings with so much emotion and i can really feel how passionate he is about it. He can be soft and smooth, but also powerful. His performances on king of masked singer really showed off his range and vocal skills (i was out of breath just listening to him during time walking on memories), and i also really like and appreciate how he arranges cover songs to fit his style. Thanks for the great video on NCT 127!

If you do a ranking of WayV, one of the best songs where you can hear winwin’s vocals is king of hearts. He gets some lines here and there in most songs but he gets the most lines and gets to show his upper register in king of hearts

I can see why you'd say they're a hip-hop groups, but 80% of their b-sides are R&B or ballads. Their title tracks are always very hip-hop heavy, but the only real "rap songs" as b-sides are like Mad City, Mad Dog, Sit Down? Plz give us more rap songs SM 🙏
And also, these videos really remind me again of how much SM puts potential singers in the closet, it hurts to see that people can't even distinguish or rate their voices because of the lack of it. I really want every member to have at least one LIVE song. (like Yuta has made a cover but it's studio) I just want them to sing more because they're SINGERS... At times like this I really hate the "manufactured" part of SM.

SM probably wants to stay in their lane. Without adding talent, it would be hard to compete with the powerhouse rap groups (BTS, Big Bang, Monsta X, Stray Kids, IKON, et al), not to mention solo rap artists like Zico. And, yes, agreed it is disgusting that Yuta, Johnny, and Winwin couldn't really be ranked fairly due to a lack of lines.

i think it would have been quite helpful if you checked out the Neozone Album. There you can hear members like Yuta, Johnny and even Taeyong showcase their vocals .
I did listen to most of it. But I like to use live or comeback clips when I can help it. Studio stuff can be problematic. But I was aware of those vocals!

@@crystalllite firstly it doesn't really fully show what you want it to, it can but not always. And companies grab at studio clips for copyright really quicker. It's just less hassle using live clips when possible.

Taeil is amazing!!! He can easily be in the same category as Baekhyun and Chen who are vocal kings and legends. I really regret that I just found out about him recently. I wish I could enjoy his voice a little more since NCT is heavily focused on the rapping and dancing lines rather than singing. May be as a soloist??? or in a collaboration with EXO members???? That would be awesome!!!! I am definitely looking forward to it!!!!! Do not get me wrong I really like NCT in general they are amazing dancers and performers, the rapping line is so remarkable specially Mark, the boys are so adorable. Nevertheless I must say that I am totally in love with Taeil and his amazing voice! I totally agree with what you said, objective, unbiased, based on evidence and research. Main rappers
@@Kylav03 Monsta x has amazing rappers, but I wouldn't exactly say Changkyun is on the same level as Jooheon singing wise. Therefore, it is correct to say main rapper who can sing incredibely well as in Jooheon.
I really like Haechan, his tone is very reminiscent to Super Junior's Ryouwook. I'm pretty sure as he matures, he'll be a near perfect vocalist.
Sidenote: I freakin love Taeil, he is a slide King.👑 His slides are so satisfactory and effortless. I'm literally on the edge of my seat when he does them.

Honestly haechan + jaehyun voice got me into nct (especially 127) because their voice, in my opinion is not the typical SM voice like other main vocal. So it’s refreshing and interesting to hear. 💚
I agree that I wasn't a huge fan of Haechan's voice at first but it's grown on me so much. The tone is just so interesting and he adds a ton of character to NCT songs I think.
Doyoung is my favorite vocalist in the whole kpop industry. His voice is so beautiful and I can always tell that he loves singing with all his heart and soul. His skills are especially shown well on masked singer

You don't just watch a compilation video of the best vocals in a group, but you analyze each one of the members, in order to have an opinion, and that's something I have not seen anyone else do. But I think Mark really has a nice voice that makes his rapping and singing better. Somehow in every song his (+Haechan) part becomes my favourite. Also his parts are always ICONIC. And I always thought that has to do with his voice quality. Thats why I think he has a potential to go solo.

taeil vocal king. I don’t care what people say. y’all can have your preferences of course but there’s no denying that he’s objectively the best singer in NCT 127. taeil’s voice is also pretty unique and nowhere similar to that of a basic pop vocalist, wish people would acknowledge his unique vocals too. I don’t know why but both EXO’s Chen and Taeil get the same treatment from fans. meanwhile, I can tell their voices apart in literally any song.
Taeil in 'Purple' is my favorite. I'm not sure if you've heard it, but you should check it out :)
i have million of goosebumps while listening to Haechan`s voice. He is amazing, such unique and interesting voice. For me, his voice and sound the best.

Taeyong actually sounds much better when he sings in a higher register. (A good example of this can be found in the behind the scenes video for Highway to Heaven.) I think he just doesn't really know where to place his voice, and as such, it comes out kinda shaky.

Yeah. I think Taeyong is a tenor. The only baritones in NCT as a whole are Jaehyun and Jisung (metallic color in their tone as well as more stable in the lower range). Taeyong has a wide vocal range but can only be noticed in Long Flight. He may have a deep color in his voice, but is a tenor, as he's more stable and strong on the higher register. You can compare his instrument with EXO's Baekhyun, who also is a tenor with a dark tone to his voice. They sound quite similar, but Baekhyun being more soulful and Taeyong more sweet. I hope he'll improve his singing as his voice is sooo pleasant to the ear.

The first time i heard Haechan voice he became my bias from the start. Nct vocalist are amazing, just shows sm doesn't play with it comes to their vocalists. Taeil and Doyoung have so much emotions in their vocals i cant help crying when i heard them. I hope we get comeback with a fair line distribution 😭😭 but thinking about sm, i hope you can do shinee next!!

I just got into NCT, and the reason I got into it is because of how he danced in BOOM, I love him and his energy sm 😭. His voice is beautiful and so unique, you can always tell it’s him
You can have your own favorite vocalist in NCT but you can’t deny that he is the best vocalist in NCT whether he is your favorite or not.
Haechan, Jaehyun, Jungwoo’s voice colour is my personal fave.. like, I could listen to them singing all day and will never get tired of it.. but when it comes to power vocals NCT 127’s Moon Taeil never disappoints..
I'd like to think of jungwoo similar to doyoung, yuta similar to taeil (voice colour) thats why sometimes they get similar sounding lines to fill the gaps. I really love Yuta and Jungwoo's voices and i really hope they show it more!!

Haechan's voice will always be recorded as very unique one. The velvety is something you can't find anywhere. Reason why NCT's bridges are always great and impactful.
Taeil is insanely good, definitely the best imo. Haechan is one of those vocalists that maybe u may not like in the beginning but once u start liking it he’s all u want to hear, it’s insanely addictive and refreshing. He’s personally my favorite I wish he would do more covers. Doyoung has a very emotional vocal style that I love. My favorite cover from Doyoung is the Ariana Grande cover. Omg it was absolutely amazing.
I don't think haechan's voice sounds bad. Like, ever. He sounds like an angel. He is one of my favorite vocalists ever.
But, no doubt, taeil is the best vocalist. He is amazing. Such an amazing guy. With the most lovely, powerful, interesting voice
That's the thing though tone is subjective cause his tone is very nasal and high it can come off as whiny which some people like and others don't
Why’s re you attacking his tone when this person praised it? Did you need to bring his voice down. Also, his voice actually has no nasality, so if you think his tone is nasally that’s subjective because he objectively isn’t nasally.

I think, however, that taeil conveys emotion very well. If you've seen the live version of timeless they did, his voice sound heartbreaking. And in songs like radio romance. But it doesn't come across as well in nct's title tracks, because of their electronic sound.
His voice is super impressive tho. And it seems, from their videos of the recording process of the latest song that he is very consistent and easy to work with in the studio room. Which means a lot to sm.
Haechan is less experianced, I think, so the emotion in his voice will get even better with time, I think. But it might just be that he hasn't been able to do as much vocal focused stuff
@@rosec2075 his voice does has a more nasal quality. There isn't anything wrong with that. Plenty of singers do. But it isn't overdone.
Some people think that it's less "unique" whatever the hell that means, or that it sounds constricted.

I totally agree with what you said about everyone, Taeil is clearly the main vocalist for a reason and SM should definitely give Johnny some more lines 😫 My personal favorite voice from Nct 127 is Jaehyun but I can understand his placement. I’m really excited for you to do Pentagon in the near future and if you really wanna listen to one of the best main rapper/singer and one of the best vocalists in kpop overall you should really give Monsta x a listen 😉

While im here I find taeyongs vocal tone so interesting. Im not adept at proper wording or anything but i feel like his voice is like croaky? and its so unique. I havent heard a voice quite like his before. This adds nothing to any ranking or analysis but there's my thoughts on the table haha.

My personal ranking is
1. Taeil (unmatched king, power vocal king, need I say more?)
2. Doyoung (beautiful range, unique color, and I love the emotion)
3. Jaehyun (I adore his baritone, I love his deep voice and his amazing range. His voice has so much character and stability which I love a lot)
4. Haechan (I like his singing a lot, ive seen them live and its very good. However I switched haechan and jaehyun because he can get quite breathy for my taste sometimes. No hate, I love his high notes)
5. Jungwoo (yeah his voice is quiet but due to his lines in boss we see more of his potential. I love a lot of his lines. They're very light and smooth)
6. Yuta (love his deeper voice and I think if he got more lines he could show off his higher register. I think we'll see it one day)
7. Mark (you can just tell by his rapping that he can sing well. He seems to be a great sub vocal. I loved his parts in growl)
8. Johnny (if sm gave him more lines we could be able to see his deeper voice showcase well. I love his limitless and kick it lines. I just think its very similar to his speaking and rapping)
9. Taeyong (Reason I put him last is because I've noticed his singing lines in songs and I think that they are similar to either his rapping or speaking voice. Its harder to tell what his vocal color is. His strength is surely dancing and rapping though :):))

@Pinkii Lights literally i did not say anywhere that this was based solely on technique? Its just how i like the voices better. I literally dont care about the technicalities of it. Thats why it says PERSONAL ranking.
I initially didn't like Haechan's voice, i dismissed it as nasally but as I delved into their discography noticed, as you mentioned, he isn't actually singing from his 'nose' at all. It's just so bright and in this album, everytime he sings...it's such a treat. I also adore his ad-libs.
Haechan suffers from a lot of nasality though, he was basically nasal in all the clips here but it benefits him so I don’t really mind.
Taeil is my absolute bias, one of my favorite voices of all time, not only technique wise, his voice is full of emotion, I don't have enough words to express it. BTW, Jaehyun voice is absolutely delightful, people tends to appreciate him because of his looks, but hey his voice is BEAUTIFUL
mark actually auditioned for sm as a vocalist and only trained as a rapper after (which is amazing)

I actually totally agree with your ranking. What I really like about NCT is that all of their voices works really good together.
Btw I think NCT is really strong as a vocal line. Even rappers are decent and contribute well. Thats why I like vocal-based songs of NCT and I think NCT is focusing vocals too... (I know everyone thinks they focus more on rapping but they have 2 rappers thats why)

Taeil is just AMAZING
Doyoung is definitely my favorite voice and /biased/ best voice for me since he introduced me to NCT and damn he’s just full of emotions that I really enjoy mostly though I can’t deny the beauty on Haechan’s tone, Jaehyun’s baritone and Taeil’s fuller technique. NCT really do have amazing vocalists that gives depth to every of their song
If it is possible, please do a ranking for n.flying or ateez! One is a band and the other one is a rookie group but they both have pretty darn amazing vocalists!

I think SM has the same thought as you because Taeil, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Heechan are the main vocal of NCT 127, but i admire Jaehyun’s voice the most, the only baritone who gets the main vocal position. It’s sad when many people don’t appreciate Jaehyun’s voice just because his voice is not tenor..and i totally agree with u, thank u.
Taeil's voice will forever surprise me especially his powerful high notes on their songs. Damn man really is so strong, enough to make you be revive.
I recommend watching doyoungs cover of Beautiful he sang in mask singer. He sings it with lots of emotion and feeling and it’s my favorite performance. Doyoung and taeil are some of my favourite vocalists, Because they sing with so much emotion

Taeil needs more opportunities outside of nct. No doubt the best vocalist in nct. And btw his gorgeous low notes dont get enough appreciation. The smallest guy with the biggest voice. The legend himself.
Doyoung gives nct the staple sound from his voice alone. His signature emotional & sensitive voice completes nct's sound.
Haechan def improves a whole lot than when they first started. His voice adds a charming uniqueness to nct's music.
Jaehyun adds depth to nct's songs(esp harmonies). A very nice vocalist & I'm in love with his deep rich baritone voice. Also he's very versatile (makes sense since he initially trained as a rapper) I highkey want more rapper jaehyun tho lol
Jungwoo honestly needs more parts like in boss. His soft vocals contrasts with nct's more rough sound but he def shines bc of it. Hope we get to see more of that in the future.
Yuta is the same as jungwoo. Very capable vocalist even though he's more acknowledge as a dancer. The underrated all rounder.
Bonus: Johnny bc why not that man dont get enough exposure to showcase his capabilities. He has much2 more lines with neo zone. Glad that we can hear more of him. Hopefully SM keeps this up.

*'Coming Home'* by our vocal kings Haechan, Taeil, Jaehyun, and Doyoung is definitely my top recommendation to check out their vocal capabilities. It does have kind of a Disney ballad vibe, but I really loved hearing the versatility of each of their voices!
Some of my favorite parts:
- Haechan sounds like honey, but in an almost vulnerable way. It's almost like you can hear a sense of raw innocence in his voice, and I love it.
- Taeil absolutely delivers, and his high notes blew me away. His voice sounds like actual butter. Stable, yet powerful and mindfully emotional.
- Jaehyun did really well when it came to the utilization of breath variation his parts. His deeper registers complemented the almost yearning tone of the piece perfectly, and it did well to introduce a sense of nostalgia.
- Doyoung's vocal control is absolutely insane. His tone felt kind of round and weightless, yet you could clearly hear the raw emotion of anticipation in his voice, giving the tone almost a solid depth.
I would HIGHLY recommend checking out 'Coming Home', it's super underrated but it is such a vocal masterpiece!

I think Taeil's voice is the best out of all of them, but I like the way Johnny and Jaehyun's voices sound. It's like velvet omg.
I think I have a vocal type: a darker colour? Jaehyun, D.O, Jinyoung, DK (over seungkwan), Baekhyun (over Chen). The only outlier is Jungkook, but I LOVE when he lets that darker colour through.
I think with NCT it starts to get very murky about the ranking of vocals when it comes to Haechan/Doyoung/Taeil... the three of them are insanely talented, it's pretty much up to personal preference rather than technique. Obviously Taeil has insane power vocals, and he's super pleasant to listen to, but my favourite voice in the group is Haechan. Ugh I don't know, they're all so good.

as a taeyong stan, he really comes off as shy when he sings (haha) while he does seem like he wants to try to sing more, he gets shy and awkward easily. like you said, i feel like if he gets the right training he could use his voice better! although with how incredible nct's vocal line already is, i'm not expecting him to suddenly become a main vocal lmao 😂 but he does have a nice sweet voice which is kinda surprising because he tends to go low for rapping
I enjoyed the video and agree with every point you made. These are some things I've noticed in my few years of listening as well as me working on my own voice:
*Taeil:* Whew versatility, he has a great tone, but surprisingly I don't think SM has really utilized his actual technical skill to his fullest
*Johnny:* My mans here gets no lines, but he has a unique tone, he's got a huskier but somehow lighter tone. I think he's more comfortable in his midrange
*Taeyong:* Tone, Taeyong has a wonderful tone, his tone great and you're right he is a bit pitchy. He also tends to rely on a nasal sound sometimes.
*Yuta:* Honestly he has a pretty good voice. He does get a chance to belt in "Back 2 U". Also in Superhuman I think he gets a pretty decent part in the prechorus which I *_thought_* was mixed voice.
*Doyoung:* He has a really varied tone, he can get real breathy when a song calls for it, or he can get really full. Sometimes he will yell a note in their style songs (mostly lives of come back)
*Jaehyun:* He's a very well rounded baritone but in terms of stability live he isn't nearly as strong as the other vocalists. However, in terms of versatility he can do almost anything and formerly specialized in rap so he can do that too.
*Winwin:* This man had no lines in 127, in WayV he's had more to do. He has a pretty decent tone but in terms of technique they kinda give him rapping lines or "talk-singing" lines. However in King of Hearts he displays a nice falsetto
*Jungwoo:* He really doesn't enough time to shine and will often be used as a support vocal and have shared lines (Superhuman, White Night, Kick It, Simon Says) and it's honestly annoying because he has a great voice.
*Mark:* As a singer Mark has a really nice pitch and he actually is pretty versatile. The members even said he's the rapper who is the best singer. He doesn't get enough singing lines but proved he can handle them (Jet Lag, BOOM)
*Haechan:* once again- Tone, the man has such a nice tone and vocal color. He was built for R&B. He sometimes trails off in his sustained notes but he is main vocal in NCT DREAM for a reason.

yeah i love this analysis! i was kinda wondering if i'd see anything about live stability, because Jaehyun tends to be really pitchy and out of breath on live stages. A lot of baritones in kpop get shunted to rapping or dancing tho, so it's good to see that he has lines.
In this Fandom Jaehyuns Vocals are to under appreciated. Like did ya'll forget he auditioned as a Rapper but SM saw his potential as a Vocalist

I really like his color. His voice is sweet but strong. Like honey and ginger tea lol. His falsetto doesn't sound airy too. It's soft but still sounds strong. And his lower register. Good Lord. It's just *chef's kiss*

I love Jaehyuns,taeils and doyoungs voice sooo much.
We all know Taeil and Doyoung is on top. But for me, Jaehyun is third, given the fact that he's pretty versatile while being the only baritone in the vocal line, making Jungwoo fourth for his pretty voice that sounds like Doyoung. I'm never a fan of Haechan's tone, but I won't discredit his abilities.
Jaehyun is technically the second best actually, Doyoung would be in the 2nd place if he was more consistent though.
