    Trimaran Sailing
    Solo mostly autopilot
    E-propulsion spirit evo
    Winds 16-22 ish. No reefs.
    Had to intentionally go slower at times to avoid crashing. Never done that before.
    Fun motorboat wake

    Thanks for the video. The speed and stability are really impressive. Making lots of apparent wind offshore.
    Looks like Long Beach.

    Love the compass to help orient the us viewers… that said arrow is your heading and “o” (circle ) is the direction of wind, correct

    • @damon_c
      @damon_c  9 місяців тому +2

      Actually, the little compass is coming straight from the GoPro and only has GPS data. It might also have some compass or orientation data, but one thing is for sure it definitely does not have any wind instruments connected to it.
      The red arrow is the boat’s course over ground. The blue circle is just some kind of relative speedometer kind of thing.

    Those long slim ama's suck. Look at them bury themselves. Displacement ama's are the future.
    Great footage.

      What’s a displacement ama? Like the 880 has?

      @@damon_c ama"s like an ac40, wave piercing bow, flat bottom hull.

    It's funny how the boat sounded like it broke the sound barrier when you hit top speed. Is 17 mph her hull speed? Great vid!

    • @damon_c
      @damon_c  9 місяців тому +1

      No actually. There’s no real hull speed. The speed limit is basically keeping those side floats from going too deep into the water. I probably could have gotten it up to 20 or so that day but I was too into staying dry and safe 🙄

    • @mastpg
      @mastpg 7 місяців тому +2

      The F24 and 28 will do 20, but you want no weight on it but the sailors, and you want them all out on the ama to make that speed.

    Do you keep the boat folded for long periods? If so, do you experience any miscolorings on the float sides?

    • @damon_c
      @damon_c  9 місяців тому +2

      Yes. The boat is always folded, and if you go to the beginning of this video, you will see the method that I have taken to prevent the floats from harboring growth. That is a solar pool cover that just floats on the surface below the boat it seems to work. I have not needed to clean the bottom and the unpainted sides of the floats have been pretty clean.

      @@damon_c You are not worried that the boat would flip if the breeze is up?

    • @damon_c
      @damon_c  9 місяців тому +1

      @@thomaslarsson1625 nope. I have it in a slip tied to concrete docks. Maybe if there was a (real) hurricane or something.

      What an interesting Idea. Can you explain why the solar cover keeps the growth off?@@damon_c

    • @damon_c
      @damon_c  5 місяців тому +2

      @@ronklein4045 When I originally put it in there, I thought the little bubbles in the pool cover were going to float and push all the water out from between the tarp and the boat and keep it "dry"... but that doesn't really seem to actually be very important. My current working theory is that it lets a thin layer of water in but just keeps all the areas of the boat that touch water very dark and most of what grows on boats are photosynthetic and/or eat things that are photosynthetic...
      Also, it's not my idea. I got it from a fellow trimaran person in Norway.

      @@damon_c it doesn't look like it unless you had the headsail/jib up which looked like the mainsail. It's hard to tell given the camera position. The 750 looks fun to sail, I envy you and other sub 30ft tri owners.

      @@the-naked-sailor The camera's low, off the bowsprit. The sail in view is the jib. Main's behind it.

    I was going crazy when you buried the starboard ama at 4:01. ua-cam.com/video/-kKU0Scn1aA/v-deo.htmlsi=c7daBLDmL1zVPfbR&t=241

      That’s not so bad… I wasn’t overpowered it was just the wake of that boat. This one ua-cam.com/video/PGh9dwpWk0U/v-deo.html is way worse!
