QWER really made a huge splash in South Korea. In South Korea the band scene was quite literally 0. They started gaining traction really early tbh showing their growth through UA-cam and stiff as they dub themselves “Development group.” The main key to their success in my opinion is the full 100% Korean lyrics. People don’t understand how important this is especially to the domestic market. QWER=Goated🫡❤️
Thank you for reacting to QWER! ❤ Members are: Chodan (drummer), Magenta (bassist), Hina (electric guitar) , & Siyeon (Main vocal/guiarist). They are representing each letters, too. Q- Chodan W- Magenta E- Hina R- Siyeon NOTE: They just got their 1st win today! 🎉🥹
All members are Korean. Siyeon is the main singer (she also plays guitar in some songs), but all members sing sometimes. Chodan (the leader) plays drums, but she's also a guitarist. Magenta (my bias) is the bassist and eldest member. Hina is the guitarist, but she also plays piano/keyboard. My favourite song by them to date is 'Ferris Wheel'.
B-sides is honestly where it is at for QWER (Except TBH). Harmony of Stars is a close contender for my #1 most listened to song this year. Make our Highlight and Ferris Wheel are cutting it close too
Thank you for the reaction. I am even more grateful for listening to their music seriously. I subscribed because you analyzed it so well. I hope there are more reactions from QWER.
thank you for reacting to QWER ! , hope you do a reaction for their other MV s too , all members are Korean just one of them ( Siyeon )was an idol in Japan for NMB48 for a couple of years
LET’S GO, QWER! They’re super a refreshing take on k-bands, I just love all-women bands 😭 I highly recommend recommend Harmony of the Stars and Goodby, my Sadness for some emotionally driven songs (the ones I like best, for crying purposes).
Omg FoT reacted to QWER Finally!! I hope we can see you react to their other two title tracks! I'm so proud to see how far they've come. From a small project group to winning their first music show award :')
Their songs are such earworms, it's so crazy that they are charting so highly with their music so early in their career, dare I say Day6 levels of popularity
I just finished watching the documentary of QWER's creation on their channel and then you uploaded this video! They are so great. Hope they keep putting out bangers.
QWER is so special as a growth band. And My Name is Malguem just won a first music show first place. Their songs are incredible! Discord, TBH... all big hitters!
Yay QWER! I'm so excited to see you go through their discography cause the stuff they released since debut have all been fantastic so far. And I agree with the other comments, the QWER experience would be more fun if you follow their story from formation that they posted on their UA-cam channel as "Oshi no girls" series which Egg Kim really presented well, given content creation is one of his expertise.
You saying if they can even be considered as an "idol group" really goes well since they actually have a song titled Fake Idol, which is another banger btw. 😆
also if you’re curious about how/why qwer is formed, they have a series on their channel called 최애의아이들 which the first season practically covers the whole formation of qwer as it was happening in real time. i think it’s a really fun watch and would be cool if you reacted to it!! or even just saw it in ur own free time bc that first season was really cool esp when i was watching it in real time bc we didn’t know what member would come next speaking of idol groups made by a UA-camr, 진용진 also made a boy group called UNNAME from one of his web dramas and they’re also doing their own variety show while preparing to debut. but 진용진 isn’t actually handling their producing, he wanted to ask 김계란 but i think he wasn’t interested in male idols as much or just too busy with how big qwer got or it was bc of his accident that he couldn’t? and now their producer is 주동이, but idk if he’s just doing content stuff or will also help with the music when that comes out
there is also a sub-line up here: Q | Chodan - Sub Vocalist and Guitar (Possibly piano too I've seen Twitch lives of her playing piano while singing, but that might be overlapped on Hina since it's her main instrument before learning lead guitar) W | Magenta - Sub Vocalist (on a recent album QW has a sub-unit song called 'run! run! run!') E | Hina - Piano and sub-vocalist too R | Siyeon - Lead Guitarist Surprisingly, I haven't heard Hina sing that well on the newest release (other than SODA, lol), even though Soyeon praised her. I hope they'll be able to work with so many more producers thanks to Kim Gyeran pushing them to do more as artists. By the way, their first-anniversary debut is on October 18!
Assuming that you'll do more of their discography, yes Siyeon is the main vocalist for all of their songs, with the other members gradually getting a few more singing lines as they have expanded their discography. Their performances on the Hup channel are some of my favorites if the MV is too distracting from their playing. So funny that Gyeran-nim was your hook to finally jump into QWER
Yes 😊 ❤ the king of reactions is doing QWER !! My fav kband as of recent ! They are so cool 😎 thanks for giving them a chance!!! Hope we can get a series of more songs . They all sing in the B sides and other tracks.
QWER is a lot of fun and even though some are still growing into their instruments, their music and videos are well done and well produced. Their recent Fake Idol video will give you lots to look at and a big cameo. Now if you want to go further with the J-rock sound, I suggest you look at NEK!, formed just this year and released an EP but just released a new video 'Loser'. Check out their 'Get Over' video (very colorful) and MAZE videos too. They are young but their musical skills are top tier.
okay this is like my 4th comment sorry for filling it up here 😭 since you said you don’t rlly play LOL i just wanted to share, qwer actually sang a song for a recent LOL new game mode release called anima squad! it’s just pretty cutesy and kinda a fun song rather than something of musical greatness, but their fandom name is also 바위게 so they just have a lot of ties with LOL in general and riot korea actually worked w them too (one of their first big events was an musical event for LOL worlds (but before thee actual ceremony) when it was in Korea, and then they did the collab song too)
based on what I watched on the QWER series where he assembles the band, Kim Gyeran's motivation is to get closer to Chodan (Q - Drummer) . . . . of course, that's just a meme lol.
Speaking of their CEO "Kim Gye Ran". Do you know that he is afraid of Chodan, the singer and leader? In fact all of the other girls are afraid of Chodan. 😜 At least according to episode 13 of their UA-cam "series" 최애의 아이들. (Favourite Children)
conventional idol fans especially those of groups from smaller companies will definitely reject the idea that they are idols but the truth is that everything about the group down to the fandom is idol-esque. it's not like the idol title is anything special to hold on to anyways. in fact it's probably their goal to be recognised for their skill instead of their looks.
I think the reason why they considering themselves as an idol band is that they can't play instruments as well as some really professional bands yet- they need to use their charms to get fans' love.
i just happen to watch u channel bcos this is pop up in my recom. I livin SK so i know why Qwer seems came out of nowhere last year. Since early quarter of last year Jpop, Janime, Jgame, or Jculture as general, are really growing so fast right here. Korean youngster spending money on Jculture by a lot. One of the main reason are nowadays many youngster dont wanna be called Kpop fans (or fandom member) anymore. Especially fans of BTS, Lesserafim or other fandom who happen always trying to get some beef or drama with other fans or fandom. Kpop is falling fast right here bcos youngster know how big company messing with them. Almost all idol groups from big company sales right now are numbers from company to record store, not company to consumers. Thats including album, merch n so on. Now Japanese n Korean youngster also bond together online bcos movie or drama like Exhuma, Gyeongseong Creature n so on to learn more about their history without older generation bias pov. I also know many idols group member keep going vacation to Japan and many of them also do anonymous cover, Utaite, on niconico. The reason for Qwer success is they not doing what big company. They not using utube ads on MV, they keep interacting 2 direction with fans through regular streaming, tell their fans to not messing with other or become streamers machine for them n so on. They do what Jartist (not idols) does. Healthy relation without parasocial experience. And its works. Even MBN varshow, who keep showing Japan-Korea relation is huge thing right now. Bubble of Kpop idols group for local market is really bursting right now.
This is off-topic from QWER (thanks for reaction too!), but if you’re getting back into J-rock you should check NEK! who are a new band that are straight-up awesome! They also just released a fantastic song and MV today titled Loner.
FINALLY QWER 😭 thank you so much for the reaction!!!
one of the members (Siyeon the vocalist) is not japanese but she was a former idol in a Japanese girl group, NMB48 (AKB48 sister group)

They just got nominated on TBH.
As of the moment, they have 2 wins for My Name is Malgeum. (They won at today's date).

Watching their UA-cam content as to how the band is formed will be very intetesting. Their lore amped up my intetest for the group exponentially
They've been calling themselves as an "idol band".
If you liked Discord already, oh man, the next songs including the b-sides might blow you away.

their entire youtube channel is a massive rabbithole, so be careful :D
Thank you for the reaction. I am even more grateful for listening to their music seriously. I subscribed because you analyzed it so well. I hope there are more reactions from QWER.
QWER is fantastic with Leveling Up With The mixing and melodies that compliments every single member of the group respectively and very versatile
