    (To me) they are totally worth it especially when compared to the price of a Marfione not so "custom" or any other custom otf made out of similar materials as the deadlock.

      @Malehanger Рік тому

      Exactly. Compare a "custom" Microtech in the same price range. Maybe Tony or son sneezed in the general direction of the knife, but I guarantee neither actually touches the knives these days. Their so called customs have lower quality materials, and still have some blade wiggle.

    Finally! Thank you for being the first person that I've heard talking about how the deadlock is over priced!
    I really like it. I don't $1,300 like it.
    I $600 like it $800 tops.
    Not to mention the difficulty in purchasing one. It's a real pain in the ass with a $500 deposit that doesn't even secure the deal.
    It reminds me of the Benchmade infidel. I like the infidel for $150 but that's not what they sell for. I sure as hell won't ever buy an infidel for $400 plus.
    That being said, I may one day drop the cash on a DL when they come out with an iteration that i really like. It's going to sting when I do though.
    Gotta give credit to Hawk. They deserve all the recognition and profit they can get. It's a brilliant and beautiful design that had never been done before.

      Ha ha ha... the new "basic" titanium Deadlock is now $2000 (in DLC). And it will sell out in minutes. I own a model A and the model B already. The evil Asian counterfeiters sell a decent Benchmade OTF clone for 50 bucks. It is what it is. Knuckleheads are buying a "basic" Bugatti supercar for $5 million each and they are all sold out... I have Deadlock money all day, I will never ever have "Bugatti money".

      @@tunahxushi4669 the non-DLC version = $1,800. I have a model B with DLC blade/accents and Ti inlays, so will be trying for the all Ti non-DLC version. I prefer the C - the action kicks much harder than the B.

    I have had mine for the last year and literally only carry it, every day...... It is still exactly like the day that I pulled it out of the box. I am still pinching myself thinking that there is no way that could happen. It is totally worth it. I paid $1K for mine in early 2021.

  • @MrTeamZissou

    I have daily carried a model B since I purchased it in 2018. I use it and not gently. Have sent it back to G&G Hawk twice. Two separate issues. Both my fault. Lost an internal part and bent the original (pre grip clip). I also flat out broke the internal mechanism when I dropped it from a considerable height on tile. They upgraded me to the Ti grip clip, replaced lost parts and fixed all my screwups no questions asked. No charge. I would have gladly paid. Not only that but the blade returned razor sharp both times. The knife still looks new. Their bead blast finish is amazingly durable. A couple of wipes with a sunshine cloth and minor scratches disappear. It is so far superior to anything else in the OTF category there is no fair comparison. Anyone that pretends otherwise doesn’t use theirs.

    One of the hallmarks of a great product is that the only real criticism you ever hear about it is the price. And price is the easiest flaw to fix! Don't pay it! Buy another knife. Get something that isn't as good and spend the next decade doing mental gymnastics to convince yourself you made the right choice. Easy breezy. Just do not hang out with your buddy that has a Deadlock anymore because he's gonna be click, click, clicking just to try to get under your skin.

    sure would like to see the deadlock go thru the same torture tests they did on 4 models of the microtechs; ultratech, dirac, troodon and combat troodon, and see if they can still function. you hear that hawks? put your knife to the tests on your dime on youtube like microtech has multiple times to try and justify the price tag.

  • @sonofliberty78

    I think the Dirac Delta would’ve made a better comparison model for the Deadlock.
    I bought a Delta cause I can’t justify the price of a Deadlock. I’m really, really pleased with the Delta.
    Anyway, thanks for the knife guy content! 👍

    • @edged_mindset
      @edged_mindset  Рік тому +2

      On some respects I agree as they have a similar deployment, but the Delta is much larger than the Deadlock, and I really wanted to make a comparison with something that has the same size blade, in particular how the Deadlock has an oversized handle to blade size.

    Do the Marfione customs have any better tolerances on blade play?

  • @paulbosley6448
    @paulbosley6448 Рік тому +1

    Not a fair comparison at all. If you used the marfione custom version the price argument is gone. If you aren't going that way then you can argue the same against the microtech by comparing it to tac for like 70 to 100$. Then that to a lightning Elite for 30$
    I have all of them and they are all worth it. Each in its own way. There are definitely things I have and will do again with my lightning that I won't be doing to my deadlock, not that it couldn't but yeah the cost of the tool sometimes determines how much you are willing to abuse it.
    All that said yes the Deadlock is worth it to me. It's a really capable tool with really tight tolerances made from premium materials right here in the USA that's also a work of art. Oh it also cuts better, there's that...

    Valid comparisons but the aluminum is a good bit different. 7075 t6 is one and a half times stronger than 6061 and much harder, not to mention the type. 3. Ano Another thing l think most people don't know is 7075-T6 aluminum has nearly double the strength-to-weight of grade 2 titanium of course 6Al-4V ti is stronger than 7075-T6 Anyways, I just wanted to throw that out there. Most people just hear aluminum think it's all the same! 👊🏼

      The Aluminum Deadlocks are no longer produced. The first run of Ti Model Cs with standard carbon fiber inlays were $1,800 (late 2022). I haven’t seen any runs of these lately, but definitely ones with more exotic in lays and/or DLC bits. I was in on the White Storm Ti Model C earlier this year ($2,200). The recent Ti Model C Deadlock With Copper Camo is $2,500. Only going up from here.
      I wonder how the resale on Deadlock is these days. Probably pretty flat.
