    So Meatball is one of those cats who don’t properly meow, she just “Eh” or “Ouw”’s.
    Loving using AMC 2 for DND nights and cannibalizing it for my own world.
    Ex: the dragon’s egg saga. Changes: Dragon’s Egg is alive but will hatch like a dirty bomb resulting in a dragonizing ‘zombie’ plague, the three Ed’s are apart of the Brokehill family, and the events will lead to open hostilities between the Brokehills and the Crofts, two trade families who have been at each other’s throats for some time before the players got involved.

    oh wow, actual social rules. It's weird to me that a lot of OSR guys hate the idea of mechanically resolving social interactions.

    • @RPGPundit
      @RPGPundit  Рік тому +8

      I think that hatred comes out of 3e-style "social skills" that ended up being either useless or a superpower, or mechanically a complete bypass from having to RP, or even having to say what or how you do something.
      In this system, how the PC intends to approach the situation, and (if the GM wants) what he says and how he says it, can factor into it, and you can't have someone get super good at social interactions just by spending skill points.

    • @VinceFromCollateral
      @VinceFromCollateral Рік тому +3

      I think for a historic game pre made characters and a robust social mechanic are basically necessary. A historic setting is great but players need a framework for interacting with that setting. Otherwise, unless they have done copious research themselves, they will be lost when it comes to how to think and act.

      With my books, I try to include important guidance for the GM as to how the culture/society and its norms are supposed to work.

      @@RPGPunditabsolutely correct. Instead of history or war or whatever roll of the dice magically gives you the answer style of play, old school creatively think how you were going to handle a situation and convince the DM it was viable. Actual roleplay situations out. The easiness of using meta information given to you and the result of a die roll is one of the things I do not like about 5e.

    • @WayneBraack
      @WayneBraack Рік тому +1

      It's because we prefer to actually have to rollplay in a role-playing game rather than rolling a dice and having the dungeon master give us metadata.

    I think I like this. I am the type of player/referee that does not like the "play-acting" style as it wastes a lot of game time in acting out conversations. This would be good tools for summarizing otherwise lengthy and often awkward dialogs.

    I've relied on a system for social encounters that puts the person the PC is talking to on a number scale (0-5). The scale represents how much the person likes or trusts the PC (0 being a friend, and 5 being an enemy). Most strangers would start at a 3, unless there is some fame involved for the PC. A successful role play encounter (persuasion, deception, intimidation, performance) can only move a person ONE step closer to the PC, so it would take you five successes to turn an enemy into a friend. How easy it is to succeed is modified by the PC's plan, skill, and abilities vs. the person. It works for subtle (not illegal) interactions.
    Bribery, death threats, etc. is another kettle of fish. And, illegal interactions even when successful will often come with some form of blowback for the PC (or entire party) down the road.

    Excelente calidad de diagramación y edición. Interesante, estoy pendiente de encargar 2 de sus productos, Sr. Pundit: "Lion & Dragon is a Medieval Authentic OSR" y "Sword & Caravan".
    Una pregunta, en el tema de juegos mediavalmente auténticos, ¿conoces el juego español Aquelarre? Usa el sistema BRP d100, en cuanto a la autenticidad medieval ibérica es franca, terrible y jodidamente exquisito.

      Dark Albion (setting) y Lion & Dragon (sistema) estan basados en verdadera historia medieval, similar a Aquelarre, o sea, el mundo medieval como lo entendian la gente del medioevo, con monstruos y magia, pero los monstruos y la magia son basados en verdaderas fuentes medievales. Lo mismo Sword & Caravan, que es otro libro de setting pero basado en el medioriente y la ruta de seda entre la 3a crusada y las invasiones mongoles. Todo es OSR, por lo tanto basado en D&D en ves de BRP. Pero sin duda Aquelarre era uno de los productos que me convencio que esto era posible.

      @@RPGPundit Dark Albion y L&D me interesan mucho, sin duda los agregaré a mi colección, sobre todo con tremenda calidad de edición. La mitología y el folklore británico (así como las fuentes gaélicas, escocesas e irlandesa) son muy ricas y peculiares. Ya ambicioné una campaña en la Isla del Hombre (Isle of Man). Sólo un detalle, entiendo tu razonamiento para no utilizar el nombre propio de la Iglesia Católica, en mi caso consideraría que, en términos de autenticidad medieval, sería una oportunidad perdida no incluirla tal cual (tal cual se entendía y veía a la Iglesia en el imaginario colectivo, quiero decir: con mitos y mística sobrenatural, así como con poderío político y militar) pero como tú dices, esos detalles lo puede incluir cada director de juego en su mesa.

    A smart person would only hire guards like Kinro from Dr. Stone, guards whose primary motivation is "the rules are the rules" that charisma and money is virtually ineffective against. The only chance the players would have is to convince them that their employer is not following the rules of society or whatever they draw their morality from which would likely require proof either actual or convincedly fabricated.

    • @RPGPundit

      Dark Albion, and the Medieval Authentic Companion 1 both have mass combat rules; they are basically the same rules except that Albion has a few differences to match the specifics of the setting. The rules are fairly abstract (don't expect a miniature wargame), and are tied to the domain rules.
