    In case anyone's wondering, this song is about the birth of the internet and internet addiction.
    Loved the in-depth analysis--you don't usually get that with reaction videos.

    Great reaction dude, thanks! The knob on his guitars is actually a fuzz factory pedal. He has built-in fuzz factory pedals, so he can have fun with it.

    This whole performance is amazing. And as people have said its a Zvex Fuzz factory installed in his Manson guitar. It's pretty unstable and unusable most of the time but Matt is able to make it work, he uses it mainly in the intro to Plug in Baby when played live. As for the whammy comment I belive he actually does use two during the solo for Reapers.

    Been a fan of Muse ever since I got their first EP back in 1998,and they never fail to deliver,but to really appreciate how good they are,and just like The Warning (hmmm,another great 3 piece),to really take in the full gamut of what they have to offer,and to really get your teeth into,they are best seen live. Their musicianship,vocal histrionics,stage presence and songwriting prowess is thrown at you full frontal. A great reaction to a great song from a great band from a great venue,shall I name it ????

    The knob on his guitar is for a fuzz factory, the squealing on that is the oscillator

    Love this song & is opening track off my favourite Muse album ‘origin of symmetry’ ….your score was pretty close to mine tbh (8.8), so I can’t really fault it…. Great reaction & review ^^

    Yeah, I agree with you on the whammy. Matt likes it a little too much in my opinion but luckily in the studio version it's a bit more tame lol

  • @mariano1647
    @mariano1647 3 роки тому +1

    Yeah, he has a "pedal" on his guitar, that was the way he asked to his luthier to build it. They usually try to find for cutting edge technology or ideas and they use it. Like the bass guitar they use on "2nd law" album, in the song madness, a bass with a touchpad pitch-shifter and more effects. That song is more pop, but whatever. Sorry for my translation faults.

    Could you try dead star live shephards Bush 2013, the audio for the show isnt amazing, but I would argue its the best they've played it.

    I think this is the best new born live version, live at glastonbury festival 2004

    When they first started in the UK, they were labelled a Radio Head tribute band. Their early look and style probably the main reason.

    Very informative reaction here, thank you. Also, would you consider doing a prog rock and/or a prog metal song of your choosing to exemplify the right amount of complexity the way you feel it, and then, in comparison to that another where you feel things go south because of overdoing it (and the exact bits in the song where it starts)?

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  3 роки тому +2

      The problem there is, it's all subjective. I love the level of complexity that Dream Theater goes to, but Liquid Tension Experiment goes too far in my opinion. On the other hand, I know other musicians who LOVE Liquid Tension Experiment because they go so far with the complexity. It's all based around personal taste, there is really no right or wrong.

    • @korkunctheterrible4302
      @korkunctheterrible4302 3 роки тому

      @@THEDavidHeretic Yeah it is subjective but I was trying to understand your taste and your comparison with Dream Theatre really answers my question, as LTE is mostly them and Tony Levin (I just found that out). Thanks a bunch for taking the time.

    Was the "decrescendo" when Matt switches from piano to guitar? Is that where you mean?

    • @THEDavidHeretic
      @THEDavidHeretic  3 роки тому

      A Decrescendo is when the music progressively becomes softer, going from loud to soft. If you can give me a timestamp to where you are referring I might be able to give you a clearer answer.

    I want to propose you something. Here is a 2015 version of that song. ua-cam.com/video/R8wG1W1TPgw/v-deo.html The same song but not the same sound. A more aggressive sound of guitar in my opinion. It would be interesting to make a comparation, how a song evolves by the time.

  • @Flash33c
    @Flash33c 3 роки тому +2

    For a live performance and my introduction to Muse it was ok. I liked the intro of the bass+piano (not something I hear often), and the music itself was decent. That said it was hard to understand what the lead singer was saying and impossible for the back-up (had they not panned over to the back-up I wouldn't have known there was one), and the squealing guitars I could do without.

    I don't really dig any of the live versions of this band's music. The album version goes from the piano intro right away into the 1st verse with a short crescendo of the piano in reverse, without any of the whammy-like theatrics. The transition is short and clean. Though I understand you're limited to what the copyright holders allow you to use. Which sucks cuz the musical analysis that you do is integral to your reaction. And you miss a lot of layers recorded in the albums on the live versions. Everyone and their mother does music reactions but few know anything about music.
