Seems the yanmar is chugging along, great to see it. Going to start mine up in the next few weeks!
Oil change transmition oil change, new fuel filters put in some injector cleaner. Let her run for 1 hour.. One of my favorite things is to take care of a good yanmar engine!!
The bulk of the negative commenters most likely don't have a boat or do what you do. Listen to their comments, but don't take them to heart. I have found in my life, most people won't take the risk and have to hate on those that are willing to take the risk. Happy sailing
So true. However I value oppinions regardless. Its just knowing when to take them with a grain of salt.

As stop-gap for your inflatable, they sell a stop leak sealant for them for about $50. I was very skeptical to use it but I have a 22 year old Carine that would hold air for about 4 hours before needing pumping and I thought I would experiment. I am going on year 2 with only pumping it once a week. So far I am impressed.
I got a new dingy!! Brand new!! This time I kniw how not to beat it up and make it last. Note that the videos are a month behind.
Great that you can make do on a low budget, some cruisers have to completely quit due to lack of funds due to extensive repairs on older boats. Anyway you can reduce the volume of just the rim snap/tap of music? Really glad you got to experience some of the Bahamas after several tries.
Do what you can - with what you have - right where you are. Keep sailing, and don't listen to those naysayers.

Your in your BS years (before sailing) best decision I ever made was trading out my life on land...When I go on land it scares me. People concearned about stupid problems. Life is simpler out here. One coffee in the cockpit at sunrise and I was hooked. Now Im on my way to being an old salt!!
Fix your tender with expanding foam. It's lightweight, floats, and you'll never worry about seams opening up. Poke a small hole to insert the tube into a chamber and fill it up.
I got a new one. That dingy was done. But ypur right that may have been a good option!

For your pump failure, in a pinch, bypass the pressure switch. You won't have "on demand" water, but you can turn on the water, do dishes, then turn it off again, etc. 95% of water system pump failures are pressure switches. Which pump did you get? West Marine's cheapest 3.0 gpm pump is $157.99. You could buy three of ours for that price, and still have $5.00 left over for that McDonald's special and have a 4 year warranty! Or, I would have just given you one in Bimini when we met there if I knew you needed one.

Think I anchored just about on that spot and got hook caught on a sunken something, after several tries I passed over anchor and was able to free from other direction.
Maybe old wooden sailing ships sunk over the years? This is an old place.. Pretty much the only place I could find to drop my hook safely.. Thanks for commenting mate!!
Are you planning to take the Erie Canal back to Canada? When do they shut it down for winter?
That is a good question. They close on the 15th. You must be inside the canal by then or no chance.. I have big plans. You will have to stay tuned to find out!!

21:20 there's another dock up that little waterway on the right. I was right there last month. Even went to that West Marine an got another life jacket. There was a hurricane off shore an i went to play around in the surf on Tabee Island. My normal life jack is a water activated inflatable, so I needed a foam core to play in the surf with.

Uh, I call bull shit on this. You passed right by Turner Creek at Maker 27 that has 3 marinas, mooring, a public ramp and walking distance to Publix. Instead you passed the yacht club, where you saw your sailboat porn, and anchored in the most inconvenient spot on the Wilmington River and not close to anything except the most expensive marina on the east coast.
You were given bad information. You should change the title of this video it's insulting to cruisers who live here as I do.

I guess I could try. Im an established unionised member of IATSE 667. So to start again here would be tough. I can make good money quick in Canada. I may work for a year while fixing this boat as content for the channel then sell her and get into a bigger vessel.. Then circumnavigate and do YT full time.. maybe. We will see.

use your fuel like its the last you will ever have, sail if you must move, starting the diesel only when absolutly nesessary, can you do this? america is a mess being over run, global invation, political leader ship is a train wreck ready to happen, what do you think act accordingly? have ev ready to run at all times bolster you security anyway you can, how much rum have you got stashed?
Don’t wait til you have enough money! Do it now! I’m 67 and never did anything but work like a dog for my kids and family! Now my health is not good so I waited too long! Jump on in and just do it! Don’t die with regrets! Its unbearable! Good luck!
