    I was 15 in 1961. Just think of all the fabulous music to come for me to enjoy in the remainder of the decade, including seeing Roy Orbison and Del Shannon live. Also most of the British sixties groups locally before they got really famous. DL. Staffordshire,UK.

      The era of rock and roll during the years before the arrival of the beatles to the US was also great and I don't believe in that myth of the media that they call it the middle ages of rock and roll

      I was president of the International Del Shannon Fan Club from 1965 to 1968, and I used to talk with him on the phone every two months for interviews for the club bulletins. He called me after I wrote him a fan letter in which I told him that I had copies of his Coke and Pepsi commercials - he did not even have those - and he asked me to run his fan club for him.

    Best of Elvis' -- Marie's The Name.

    • @muide7
      @muide7 4 роки тому +1

      Elvis had wonderful songs in that period. Not really rock 'n roll, but nice. Stuck On You. Good Luck Charm. My favorite was Little Sister. But before that Elvis was Elvis, in the late 1950s, with A Big Hunk o' Love, I Got Stung, Hard Headed Woman, Trouble, etc. Elvis Presley has no "best" song. He declined - in my opinion - after 1964 (Devil in Disguise was great).

    1960 to early 1964 were the years before the British invasion of American music. These were the last of the years of innocence in American music and popular culture. I am proud to be a member of that generation. In the early '60s, we had so many of our own good talent and really did not need the music of foreigners.
