Hey Rick, you do a great job of critiquing a show. I think many collectors appreciate getting your observations of some of the nuts and bolts of shows other than just the cards that are there. I appreciate your mentioning me and my cards. It has turned into some customers across the country for me. You know I love that Goodwin Champions card you got. What a great pick up! My next show isn’t until Pasadena in November. Hopefully I’ll see you there. I always enjoy just talking cards and collecting with you.
Mark, yeah, I am stunned I found that card. I knew I wanted it but I really had to think about it for a bit. Luckily no one else bought it. Was hoping I'd see you at Burbank? Thanks for watching!
Hey, Rick! Nice breakdown of the venue and amenities. That Caruthers, wow… congrats, man. It was nice meeting you - hope to run into you at the next show. Keep up the great content!
I'm a raw guy, and as you mentioned, there weren't a lot of commons or binders to go through. But I was able to find a really clean '52 Topps Hank Thompson and a super sharp '56 Carlos Paula, and add them to my "Players Who Broke the Color Barrier" project. I only ran across one unslabbed T206, Jake Stahl, (with a nice Polar Bear back), so I to scoop it up. I'll keep an eye out for you in Pasadena.
Great stuff Rick! Very thorough on giving us the breakdown about the show. Hopefully I can make it out tomorrow. Congrats on picking up that awesome Caruthers. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hey, Rick. I caught you on Mikey's video. The interaction between you guys was fun to watch. Nice Caruthers card! I think you absolutely made the right choice in going for it. Love the '68 Aaron.
Hey Gannon! Mikey made me laugh everytime I kept seeing him. He's a good man. Thanks on the Caruthers. Yeah, I could find the Ryan anyday. I had never seen the Caruthers card in person. Hard to pass on. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Orlando. When I texted TJMAC my photo of the Caruthers card, he replied back "Orlando will like that card" hahaha. First time I've seen a Goodwin Champion card in person. Thanks for watching!
Rick, you got three great cards there! The 59 Topps Musial gift from @geezmikey comes with a wonderful story you will remember forever! The 68 Aaron is a solid pickup bringing you to within 1 card of completing your set. And the Goodwin Champions Carruthers is the card that you can look upon as the cornerstone of your Dodger collection! Congratulations!!! Thank you for sharing your experiences at the show!
Rick, thanks so much. I had a great time at the show. I found and bought the only Goodwin Champions card I wanted for my collection. I love the Cap Anson but it's too expensive for me. The Musial card is PERFECT!
Hi Rick it was really great to meet you in person. And thanks for the video shoutout. As I mentioned to you before this was my very first Burbank show and definitely largest one ever, and I can say honestly a memorable one because of you and George. I don’t do videos but if you want to do one of the card I got, I would not mind at all. If you are going to be there tomorrow Sunday, would love to connect again. Probably visit George’s table too. If not there’s always Long Beach. Cheers brother - Edison
Edison! I am home and letting YOU buy all the good cards today at the show!! You have great energy, my friend. I will be in Long Beach and Pasadena, so I hope to see you soon!
@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector Bummed I didn’t run into you at the show. Hopefully at the next one. I only picked up a couple small cards (56 Aparicio and 60 Clemente). Cheers!
Thank you for keeping it real. The dealers and people are not coming back for a show that gets smaller. It’s a $10 show 2 yrs ago and now $25. So with parking it’s $50 to get in the door 😢. This not the same as the Nationals for almost the same price.Anyways thank you for posting this informative video.
Yeah, $50 before you walk in the door is hard to swallow and the place was busy, but I do think the previous versions of this show had more people. I appreciate you watching!
Hey Rick, thanks for the show footage. I still can’t believe there is a 57 Frank Robinson with a different image out there. I saw you got the Orlando seal of approval on the Caruthers. No one knows Goodwin Champions cards like him. That is a beautiful card and awesome one to add for your first 19th century card. I didn’t know you picked up the 68 Aaron. You said you were looking. It sounds like you got a fair deal and were able to take it home that day vs. waiting for it to ship on eBay. Now you just need the Ryan/Koosman. The right one is out there. Nice Musial from Geez Mikey. I think that was the first one I got. Love the colors on it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Terry, I would like that Frank Robinson card but it's a good $34k too much for my taste. The 68 Aaron ,when I was texting you, was not in the plans, but I sat there thinking about it after we stopped chatting. I thought it would be silly of me to continue looking for this card so I went back to the seller and agreed on the $50. Yeah, the Ryan. I am still under the illusion I can find the card $100 cheaper. We'll see how the next month or two go in looking for this card. We have three shows in two weeks coming up, but no plans to buy it yet. The Musial card is hysterical. It looks great with my other 59's. Thanks for watching!
Rick…Congrats on that 136 year old Caruthers card. No doubt that will always stay in your #1 slot on your Dodgers mantle. 40 game winner with a mustache like that! Don’t make em like they used to. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks Todd! I actually had to say to myself the card is 136 years old, 22 years older than my T206 Zack Wheat (which is also old). It's a nice and unexpected addition. LOVE the mustache! hahaha. I appreciate you watching, Todd!
I have to attend a Burbank show some time. I really appreciate your description, show footage, and sharing the pickups. You had a great show! Thanks Rick
Chuck, you should come out to Burbank sometime! If you come to the summer show, you can also go to Disneyland! I got very lucky yesterday. Thanks so much for watching!
Great recap, Rick! Love that Caruthers. Like you said, you can find a Ryan pretty much anywhere, but not the Caruthers at a price that's acceptable. I was going to ask you if you remembered seeing any Namath rookie cards, but then you showed a couple in the footage at the end. Probably a good thing I didn't go. LOL. Have a great weekend my friend.
Mike! I wish you had been there my friend. I need some "Mikefoolery" at a show with you. Yeah, I kept saying that about the Ryan. I can buy that any day. I've never seen the Caruthers card in person so I jumped on it. NAMATH, I will never buy that card but I look for it at EVERY show I go to. That is my ultimate football dream card. Thanks for watching, Mike!
Is that a combo L.A./Brooklyn cap you're wearing? I'm old -- I remember when it cost a buck to get into a card show, and $3 to get into the National. I'd be annoyed at those Iatecoming dealers. I set up occasionally at some general interest fairs/shows, and many of them have it in their contracts that dealers must be there for all the stated show hours. This nonsense of people not being at their businesses during stated hours seems to be an epidemic in many situations. But from your description, the environment of the show seems to be pleasant.
Michael, it's a Long Beach State Dirtbags cap. I live by their baseball diamond so I go to their games a lot. Yeah, the cost of a show is crazy. For me, I somewhat get it when it's a huge show like Burbank, but we have another show here in a few weeks that is charging $20. that show is not worth $20 and that doesn't take into account parking is like $12. It does get ridiculous. I didn't know that about the contracts and the stated hours. There was about a dozen empty tables yesterday,. It was a good show, which is always fun. Always appreciate you watching, my friend!

@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector I did not track the time. I felt it was like 15 minutes. I was in line at 9:50am, 12 people in front of me.
Once I had to park far away to an event and came back to a slashed tire. He pitched to 1992? Wow. How s he not in Donruss??
Slashed tires suck! LOL, yeah, my mistake I meant 1892. I rarely discuss the 19th century so I messed up!
