I LOVE THIS VIDEO. THE MEDIA WANTS TO SCARE YOU AWAY FROM PLACES LIKE THIS. THEY ARE EVERYDAY PEOPLE, JUST WANTING SOME HAPPINESS TO LIVE AND PROSPER. I LOVE YOUR PERSONALITY AND YOU HAVE AN AMAZING SMILE. THANK YOU!!
Great video !! Showing the world that Cartagena is more than the Tourist attractions, the super ridiculous expensive hotels stores , restaurants , etc Thank you Ayngelina
Wonderful video Love the history, the murals and the fact that your guide along with others are finding ways to raise up the community. Turtle soup used to be very common in parts of Canada, and I too would have tried it. I was given something here in Ecuador to try, cannot remember what it was called but later I found out it was endangered and felt terrible but understand why it was hunted, mmmmm.
That was definitely an awesome tour! I have been in similar. In Ecuador they're called invasiones. Maybe you could do a video from Mapasingue. To recap one concern, they're squatters, they have no deed, but they have a right to be there? Is that the law there? Like here in the wild west, just stake a claim and it's yours as long as you can defend it from the next wanderer who'd like to claim it. 🤔
I don’t know the legal status but I think they may have some legitimate claim as the police don’t tear down established homes just the ones that are being built or abandoned. But La Maria below supports these people being there so I think it’s a bit complicated.
In Colombia, to ease the lack of housing for the poor, they passed a law that says, if you built a house in a land that isn’t yours and you live there for more than a decade, you can claim ownership, many of these slums over time become proper neighborhoods with services and streets.
@@mararo5925 I don't know the details but nobody's getting kicked out of Mapasingue nor Guasmo, I know people who live there and have even installed plumbing and electricity. But suppose they wanted to go on vacation and leave the house empty for a while, when they come back and other people have taken over their house...
Did they tell you what type of turtle it is? There is definitely a species of turtle that is endangered and it is illegal to buy/sell that species of turtle and the turtle eggs as well. Years ago Tony Bourdain did a show in Cartagena and ate some turtle eggs. He didn't know they were endangered so I'll give him a pass but he got a lot of flack for that. STOP promoting the illegal trade of endangered species.
Well I’m not promoting it. The reason I’ve never eaten turtle is for this very reason. In fact in the video I addressed that I was concerned that it was endangered. This is why it’s important to go with a reputable guide who shared with me that it was a type of river turtle and not endangered like other turtles.
Turtles are abundant. I can scarcely go for a walk without coming across at least one. The grandkids carry them to the house, make little habitats, play with them, feed them, and turn em loose after a couple days. Those are box turtles. In the creek we see snapping turtles. We don't try to pick them up! But they're aplenty and those are the ones that people use to make turtle soup. Species in danger of extinction these days are limited to certain varieties of very large sea turtles.
i would never have eaten any turtle. I wouldn't believe anyone saying its not endangered- as if they would say the truth if it was. better to err on the safe side. just my opinion. @@ayngelina
As far as I know Turtle is and endangered specie and forbidden To eat and also use their eggs, is a shame this is promoting the consumption with this video .
This is river turtle not ocean turtle. And turtle as a species is mot endangered. There are lots of countries where even ocean turtle is not endangered.

I asked several people about the turtle as I really didn’t want to eat it if it was endangered but they said river turtle in Colombia is fine
Great video☺️Gorgeous!
Thank you!! 😊
I believe that was partially La Maria, but it turns into Obrero and Las Flores , muy bonita
Yes we started in La Maria and walked up hill 😊
How much did he change for the food market tour? I’m going in November
I can’t remember the price but I’m a budget traveler and I didn’t think it was expensive. He’s pretty quick to respond if you reach out.
I am going to be traveling north instead of Peru or Argentina due to the unrest. Glad you posted this, I am going!👍🏻
By far the best day in Colombia. Deimer has other tours as well
@@ayngelina I will definitely reach out to him. You look happy, good for you!
He has other tours as well. I would have taken the others if I'd had more time. But the next video is from the first free town in the Americas.
@@ayngelina Thanks for the tip!

It’s best to contact Deimer as it depends on how many people are going. I was solo and thankfully able to join a big family.
