      My wife's step mom was on IV antibiotics through a PICC and when she was done, she gave us her leftovers. They have been a godsend as we have been trying to find a new home infusion company for her port. I totally agree, no one should ever through anything out.
      Regarding the ton of trash, a lot of it is recyclable if fluids never touch it. Mostly bags that you can drop off a a grocery store or Target. There's a decent amount of paper

  • @shywolf4
    @shywolf4 6 років тому +132

    Don't throw the surgilast away. If you are able, contact you local animal shelter. They may be able to use it and welcome the donation.
    You could also check with low cost clinics or something like doctors without borders.
    Organizations that need it badly enough might even send a volunteer to pick it up.

    People like you are why everyone needs to do their best to make eco friendly decisions and use less plastic. Because the chronically ill and other people requiring procedures actually *need* these plastics and the oil required for plastic production is not an infinite resource. Thanks for making this video. It was very interesting.

    Honestly... IDK why you have to open a flush onto the field... In the ER they never open fully sterile syringes. I guess if you are doing it week by week it makes sense... but for a peripheral IV you can start it, get the flash and then just attach a syringe with STERILE FLUID... but not a FULLY STERILE situation.
