This just showing posters and a lot of people's ignorance.
While it's not very showy or viewer friendly this is valid technique that opens up a lot of take downs, grapples and submissions by allowing all four limbs to be in play that simply not possible when two limbs holding weight.
It is a legitimate trade off between mobility and attack versatility. The concept that this removes takedowns from equation totally wrong.
