    The thing I liked the most was that she only showed one move- with lots of detail. Some coaches show 3 and 4 variations and counters- by the time you're done- you don't know what you've learned. Keep up the good work.

      i dont think youre supposed to learn it all on the first class but showing counters gives the idea of that move's gameplan.

    The details she gives are awesome! Like grabbing their shoulder and pushing it into the neck. Great stuff!

    This is my speciality. I have been through every video and lots of variations of the arm triangle. Over the last few years I have literally caught people in 100s of arm triangles but some of the details in this video I have never seen before. One of them being how when she moves to the other side uses her foot to move their hips away to expose their back and the second is the thing she called the steering wheel technique. Great details in this video.

      Her way is also great if you can’t grab your bicep for the finish. Honestly one of the best demonstrations of an arm triangle choke imo

      If youre big and strong your choke work anyway, even when its not perfect... But if youre fragile like her you need to be very careful with the technique in order to make it work;

    JuiJitsu is great for competition or MMA. It is also great for law enforcement, when they're trying to apprehend a suspect when he is resisting. However in self defense or a street fight, the last thing you would probably want is to roll around with someone on the ground! You would want to hit the guy, knock him down, and get the hell out of there asap!! What if as you're grappling with someone, trying to put him into submission, he produces a weapon, what if his buddies show up, and hit you in the back of the head??

    • @AgatsuWest
      @AgatsuWest 4 роки тому +2

    Always preferred the hand-on-bicep sort of finish as you have better control of the head and feels tighter for me, and as far as I can tell you don't gain anything by doing it Ffion's way - unless I'm missing something?

    • @vinestar12
      @vinestar12 5 років тому +2

      The hand on bicep grip is good to get the finish if you can apply a lot of pressure through your 'squeeze'. However, using this grip does reduce your mobility so if you can't get the tap with your first squeeze then you may gas your arms and lose the position when you try and readjust. The gable grip, while not giving you as much raw squeeze power does allow you to better use your shoulders and bodyweight to force your opponent's shoulder into their own neck (as Ffion likes to do in this video). If you need to readjust you can use your left arm to push on the shoulder and make the choke tighter and then quickly go back to the gable grip instead of finding your bicep again. If your opponent turns away it is also easier to switch to a seatbelt grip and boat ramp to the back. None of the two ways are wrong its just a matter of personal preference. As she says at the start of the video this is just the way the Ffion personally likes to do the head arm.

    • @rhidiandavies1991
      @rhidiandavies1991 5 років тому

      @@vinestar12 great explanation. I must have a decent squeeze then because I've never failed to finish from top once I've connected to the bicep. I've managed to finish it from bottom a few times too (not on anyone purple belt and up), which is another benefit of doing it hand-on-bicep.
