My wife and I just purchased a 2024 GMC Denali Ultimate Yukon, absolutely love the interior and the Vader chrome! I am not trying to justify this pricing on the truck but I feel as most of rhese suv with loaded options are in the high $80k- $90k if I am spending that I want to go all in on the Ultimate! Love the truck and a big GMC fan.
I have the Yukon Denali Ultimate and really don't have an issue with the shifter. Also, when slide the console back, you can push the leather top forward, so you still have the armrest for the front passengers. Agree that I love all the buttons, that is why I went with the Yukon Denali Ultimate over the Escalade. Also agree that I love how the screen is integrated into the dash board, unlike a lot of manufactures that are just adding an "ipad" to the dash.
I personally don’t have a desire to buy this type of vehicle but I have to watch every one of your videos !!!! Wooohoo you both are so knowledgeable and entertaining, thank you!❤
We bought a 23 Yukon Denali with the 6.2L to replace a 16 Denali and I love it. The air ride suspension makes it float and has an amazing ride quality. Love the heads up display, customizable instrument cluster, the seats are very comfortable, and I love the infotainment system. The only drawback is acceleration with the way the transmission is geared. I know its a small thing but I love the electric running boards. The way they are tucked in while underway but then pop out to aid in getting in and out of the vehicle.
Any issues with the 6.2 yet? All GM forums have nothing but horror stories about the motors going out with very low mileage. I have a 2015 Yukon Denali XL. Motor was rebuilt at 150,000 miles due to the cylinder deactivation garbage. Currently have just over 189,000 miles on it. Reliability issues and the absolute insane cost is keeping me in mine ..lol… Enjoy your ride and be blessed.
@@emikomina there’s a reason I bought the 7 year 72,000 bumper to bumper extended warranty. Not my first rodeo with GMC. But if you look at the full-size SUV category they are all plagued by issues and/or you will spend well north of $100k for one. GMC Yukon seemed to be the best value for the money in our opinion. The High Country Tahoe was not as smooth or interior wasn’t as nice as the Denali.

Hi guys, as always, your reviews and insights are incredibly helpful, making everything easy to understand with your in-depth analysis. I’m planning to buy another car, preferably a full-size SUV, and during my research, I came across GMC’s facelifted Yukon lineup. I was really impressed with the first look of the 2025 GMC Yukon AT4 Ultimate and the 2025 GMC Yukon Denali. Do you have any idea when you’ll be able to test drive them and provide a detailed review?
We have a 2022 Yukon Denali. Outstanding vehicle although I find the interface with the technology a little clunky. Also the cylinder deactivation dries me crazy. Amazingly quick for such a large truck. Great engine.
great review and i completely agree with the pull button. We have had a Denali for last 9 years and ready to upgrade but may have to go in a different direction. Love everything about this vehicle but i just can't do pull button transmission. thanks for all the great reviews.
Love my Yukon XL 3.0 diesel. It’s averaging 11.9L/100 km in daily use and I’ve seen as low as 10 on highway trips. I couldn’t get this mileage with my CR-V! Just over 70,000 km and aside from a few tech glitches and software updates I’ve had no problems.
The reason for the pull buttons for reverse and drive is that a driver cannot claim they mistakenly used those buttons since you have to intentionally use them. Alleviating the I thought I pushed the right button defense.
I’m just imagining trying to parallel park… lol. Look pull. Look pull. Look pull… so awkward. At least with a dial it has some tactile feel so you don’t have to take your eyes off the mirrors each time. Idk. Just a thought. Good explanation though… hadn’t thought of that.
Regarding air suspension: I was just watching a UA-cam video yesterday put out by an excellent mechanic talking about air suspension on Lexus and how crazy expensive it is to replace when they start leaking. So that's something to consider.
Zack wants more buttons! 😮 😂 This thing is huge. I am not crazy about transmission buttons. Having a diesel is good. 👍🏻 perfect for long trips. Good show Andrea! ☕️☕️
One of the few cars with no buttons on the center console. if you have small pets you’ll appreciate not going into P on the 401 when they walk between passengers😎
The facelift Tahoe is an improvement. But from what I saw with the teased Yukon, the headlights look weird and kinda ugly like the Silverado’s distorted appearance.
Imposing but handsome looks particularly in the Ultimate trim. Interior is certainly nice enough, it’s not class leading but you’re certainly not hard done by and it has good functionality with perhaps a question mark over the gear selector. Air suspension is a very nice to have provided it doesn’t fail and the range of engine options is stand out..
GM does love their cheap hard plastic. I was a GM/Chevy guy for decades and I'll never buy another one. And those buttons for the transmission are like an after thought. As if they got done designing the interior and someone asked where does the shifter go - and someone just figured ah, throw in some cheap buttons, that'll be good enough.
My low km GMC Sonoma is a piece of trash. Leaks water inside, leaks oil, suspension has deteriorated, I have smashed my head on the overhead 3rd door strike (horrible design), the 3rd door handle has broken 3 times, the ABS module failed, one of the HVAC vacuum solenoids failed, and of course the AC no longer works. Garaged its entire life and it's a poor excuse for a vehicle. I will never buy another GM (have owned over a dozen of them).
Get the 6.2L and remove the troublesome DOD. Add ported heads, cam and a blower. Makes good power in stock form, crazy power with supercharger. New screens are much better. Push button trans is horrible. A small shifter handle on console is perfect. The 2025 Tahoe/Yukon gets a small column mounted shifter. I love the interior in the Lincoln Nav. You can make more power with the Nav’s twin turbo 6 by adding a tune. The Yukon is a great SUV! 👍
Have driven both…..Navigator has a better looking exterior and much classier interior……the 30-way seats in the Navigator are light-years better than the GMC. Yukon Denali rides better and is slightly quieter….Nav for the win!!

I bought a ‘21 Yukon Denali with the Ultimate package and had FOUR visits to the dealership in the first 5k miles for the air suspension, which was replaced multiple times and never fixed. Absolute garbage.
Your comment is very interesting. I had a 2021 GMC Yukon AT4. My SUV was also in the dealership three times before 5,000 miles. GMC kept my car for three months during one of those visits. My air suspension was also replaced. I asked whether my vehicle was a lemon. GMC decided to consider my vehicle a lemon. I now have a 2024 Denali Ultimate. So far no issues at all.
With diesel prices higher than Gas and when it’s difficult to find diesel gas stations in remote and interior areas (you can find Gas almost anywhere), if we don’t have to tow anything, is it a good idea to get gas engine ?
the diesel is a little slower...but I heard u don't notice it as much when driving normal around town. I would probably lean towards the diesel, but the 6.2L is pretty neat as well.
Great review pretty much bang on when I drove the Denali Ultimate as a rental. Zach I would like to commend you this has to be the first review where you haven't said "The Bank of Toyota" That's probably because the Toyota Sequoia in the space isn't very popular at all and its ugly as heck. These full size GM SUV's are selling used almost for what they were bought for day one. Several Vancouver dealers are selling 23 Denali Ultimate's used for over $100,000CAN. For those people that actually listen to what Consumer Reports has to say when it comes to reliability I would encourage you to do some internet research on how Consumer Reports has been compromised and is completely without integrity. The 25 Yukon Denali will be out in Q4 of 24 with order banks opening this summer and deliveries in Q1 of 25. Arlington Assembly Plant in TX is retooling for the new 25 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade in the summer/fall 24.
The only issues with GM/Chevy and across all there truck lineup, is the HVAC system. Had a 21 version of this vehicle and just outside of the warranty and the AC unit had to be replaced...$2000 bill. As soon as my wife pulled in, they knew exactly what was wrong and how much. They are well aware of this problem, and it's not just GM either. Where I work, we have 40-50 same generation Chevy trucks, and everyone has the same issue, including the ones that came online January 2024 already. Whatever GM did to this generation model is not the same a previous generation. We still have 40+ pre covid generation trucks and they are all fine, or better, and even older trucks are much better. I have owned few Denalis from the previous generation 07 and newer, and never had an issue with any of them...I won't be back till they fix this issue, or but the Extended warranty of your a high mileage user like we are. It will pay for itself. Other than that great trucks. Oh and first the first time this 21 engine blew and was going again with just under 100k, so we ditched it. This could be a one off on the 6.2, as I am sure it's the same motor since 07, and we have put big miles on all previous 6.2, and zero issues... My wife puts about 70-80k a year on them. 5 kids, 4 play traveling hockey, and 1 horse rider, so our XLs got used well, or lived in well.
Like the console slide and the chocolate brown leather with black accent looks great . Air suspension is great especially towing, have it on myRam 2500. The 3.0 is great for mileage but marginal better torque than 6.2 l for towing. Like what GM has done to this vehicle just not the price.
I’d be more inclined to put more weight in the CR ratings. Doesn’t JD Powers do most of the marketing for these brands? 🥴 Conflict of interest if you ask me. Nice review!!
Hi Andrea and Zack, I am in the market for either the Yukon Ultimate or the Escalade Sports Platinum as I have 2 big golden retrievers. My dilemma is whether to get the gas or diesel engine. Zack has said he'd get the diesel for the better mileage which I think is great. Will it be good for me as I live in Prince George, BC. Most of the driving I do is Monday to Friday home to work less than 15km. Weekend drives will be to the grocery store and Costco which will also be less than 15km one way. Will probably make 2 trips in the summer long distance. One to Vancouver for sure and one to Alberta. Is my driving style too short distance for the diesel? Am I asking for trouble in the long run? Should I stick with the gas 6.2? Do you feel that passing power on the freeway is sufficient in the diesel? The difference in price between the diesel and gas when purchased new is negligible. What should I do? Thanks, Walter
I feel conflicted. I want the 6.2L because they're a dying breed, but the Diesel makes more sense from a long term cost perspective. Gets almost twice the gas mileage with close to the same torque. I'd end up buying one and having buyer's remorse for the other.
The additional 20K for the Ultimate version of the Denali over a well-optioned std version hit my squeal point. A few additional headrest speakers, upgraded leather and wood, and Vadar chrome (which looks great) doesn't add up to 20K for me.
How many times do you use the push pull buttons not that many times a day I’d worry about the rest of the truck make sure you get the extended warranty
If reliability is most important thing to you then yes maybe Toyota. But toyotas bore me to sleep. Im willing to give up some reliability for luxury and excitment
Honestly, I think the reliability issue is blown out of proportion. We live in the 2020s, major brand car makers are not putting out crappy vehicles. A less reliable brand today would’ve been the most reliable a couple decades ago. It’s just probability with any brand, you might get unlucky with any car…
I’m 68, when I was 21, I thought cars were expensive , because I didn’t make a lot of money, now I do make good money, but truck/ suv prices just seem obscene to me,,, $100K for a loaded truck or SUV, is not extreme, where is this insanity headed
I'm sorry, but you two have the voice of bubble written all over it. I'm not even a believer, but I hear your voices on a GMC for $100k and I am thinking to stack Bitcoin, gold, and cash. This plays eerily 5 years from now in my ears.
One thing I noticed about Consumer Reports is all Chevy, GMC, Ford, Jeep, German Cars are in their worst list. However, Toyota, Lexus and Subaru are always at the very top of all their lists. I have nothing against Toyota, Lexus and Subaru as they are great vehicles. My point is, Consumer Report should be more honest and unbiased in their reports. Give credit to those who deserves credit. This is exactly one reason why I never used Consumer Reports in my research for new vehicles. JD Power, Iseecars, Road and Track, Edmunds, Car and Driver are more reliable platforms for new car research.
J D Power Reliability survey has Lexus and Toyota ranked one and two, about 1.4 issues per car. But Buick and Chevy ranked three and four, about 1.6 issues per car. But to your point only other domestic in the top ten is Dodge. The average for all cars is 1.9 reliability issues.
Toyota, Lexus, Subaru and even Mazda deserve their place near the top of the rankings. Nothing biased about it imo. Even Mini is up there surprisingly. Of the domestic brands Chevy and Buick have improved their reliability in recent years. And to finish, German cars have always had terrible reliability due to their overengineering and complexity.
I have had 7 GMC vehicles, 5 trucks and 2 SUV, One Tahoe and one Yukon, zero issues.! But residual value is falling, and lease deals are no longer affordable.
I recently rented the Chevrolet version for a trip and I must admit I came out impressed. I don't need a car this seize as my daily but I totally get why people would go for this type of vehicle. The diesel is the better choice for sure.
I guess I’m in the minority in that I find it gaudy like a plastic Christmas ornament from Big Lots. I’m sure a whole bus stop full of kids could hide in front of that grill. If you need to tow in comfort, it looks like this is the vehicle. It’s excessively excessive to me.
Aren't they ditching the push/pull button in 2025? As major outlets are showing the interior with the EV steering wheel, with an even bigger screen, and an electronic stalk for the transmission.
Yeah owned a 22 Yukon ultimate and I will tell you that the android infotainment system is total garbage. Door started leaking when it rained and after getting rid of it I learned the lifters went bad on the engine. I will stick with my BMW suv for sure, so much nicer than a Denali.
$100K and they can't get rid of the phone holder in the arm rest that doesn't charge your phone. That little fix has to wait until 2025. I was looking at a 2024 Tahoe, $85K and that armrest thing is a joke along with the way you shift to park, reverse and neutral. I can't wait until the gear shift is back to where it belongs. Also looking forward to the newer diesel.
Folks at times will default to the mileage as a decision driver for a vehicle purchase. I don't give it much importance. and here's why,.....GMC rates the Duramax as 21mpg in the city and 27 mpg on highway. GMC rates the 6.2 Gas engine as 14mpg in the city and 18mpg on the highway. Today, 11/24/24, in my town, Premium 91 Octane costs $3.44 and diesel is $3.47. So, the cost to operate a Duramax per mile $0.165 cents per mile in the city and $0.128 cents per mile on the highway. The 6.2 cost to operate is $0.246 cents per mile in the city and $0.191 cents per mile on the highway. To drive a gas 6.2 costs $0.0810 cents per mile more in the city and $0.063 per mile more on the highway. Or you can look at it as you save this much driving the Duramax. Nothing was said about the cost of DEF or the cost of a diesel conditioner additive needed if you live in cold climates. FHWA reports Americans drive approximately 13,500 miles per year. If fuel prices stayed steady for 12 months with the example above. It costs $1,093.50 to drive a 6.2 Gas engine 100% of the time in the city versus the Duramax for an entire year. It costs $850.50 to drive a 6.2 Gas engine 100% of the time on the highway versus the Duramax for an entire year. What you should make your viewers aware regarding a Duramax is this - a 150,000 mile replacement - an estimated replacement cost of $2,973.00 as of 9/9/2023 using a shop rate of $175 per hour. " On a Duramax engine, the belt that typically requires engine removal for replacement is the "wet oil pump belt" located at the rear of the engine, which drives the oil pump and often necessitates significant access to replace properly, sometimes requiring transmission removal as well; this is particularly relevant for the newer 3.0L Duramax engines. "
Poor Piano Black, so derided, so bullied. Now, the Yukon has tons of Piano Black and not even a mention. Piano Black feels neglected. I say stop Piano Black hate, it’s pretty, and didn’t do anything to you!😂
You can't compare a lincoln navigator to a yukon, if you want to compare the navigator to something you have to compare it to the escalade. As they both are the luxury versions of each brand.

Just attach a couple flags on the hood, slap on the shades 😎😎...and see how many stares you get! 😂
Yukon denali for sure better than others
Like the console slide and the chocolate brown leather with black accent looks great . Air suspension is great especially towing, have it on myRam 2500.
The 3.0 is great for mileage but marginal better torque than 6.2 l for towing. Like what GM has done to this vehicle just not the price.
The push button PRNDL is an absolute war crime
What war?
So which is better then, Consumer reports or JD power?
She's absolutely right, these trucks really do have a street presence that no other vehicle can duplicate GMC YUKON COMING THROUGH too funny
It’s hilarious, why in a couple of years the gM rust out ummm no thanks
I love your reviews, but wait, how many times are you going to touch or engage the D botton while driving.
Thanks,
Walter
I would get the diesel and enjoy all the torque and amazing fuel economy. Just make sure you take it out for a run once in a while it'll be fine
I feel conflicted. I want the 6.2L because they're a dying breed, but the Diesel makes more sense from a long term cost perspective. Gets almost twice the gas mileage with close to the same torque. I'd end up buying one and having buyer's remorse for the other.
ooph...what do you do when those shift pull buttons break....hopefully not while youre driving
How about patrol how much price gmc Yukon denali unlimite
Holy Moses, this makes me want to get back in the business.
What business are we talking about, chief?
Car sales, profits must be higher than ever.
Waiting for the 2025 Denali Ultimate
Is the Escalade worth the extra 10k-15k over this?
If it isn’t a v8 ,I am not interested. I have a Yukon. Zero problems.
To what do you attribute the seeming disparity in vehicle ratings between JD Power and Consumers Reports?
JD Power is just initial quality over the first 3-6 months of ownership. CR is longer term.
Have 3 year review too!
I prefer a full-size SUV since me and my family are safer which is why I got the Escalade ESV as a write-off.
How does this compare to the Escalade
I also meant to ask if the Denali is equipped with front cameras .
As a Loyal Toyota owner over the last 12years, I purchased a Duramax Silverado in 2023. Bye is their reliability terrible. Last GM product for me.
What went wrong on yours?
@@adamcornelius365rational and nuanced takes aren’t allowed here, sir
Yukon all the way
Just remember, if you're in Toronto to leave the keys by the door so you don't get killed when thieves come for it.
I wouldn’t have anything to do with the 3.0 dmax I love the 6.2
I’m 68, when I was 21, I thought cars were expensive , because I didn’t make a lot of money, now I do make good money, but truck/ suv prices just seem obscene to me,,, $100K for a loaded truck or SUV, is not extreme, where is this insanity headed
I wish I was 68 again. Remember, it only took $19,000 in ‘77 to buy something costing $100,000 today. Inflation is the cruelest tax.
BIG boat in Canada, everything is Denali in Québec!
Well, this is getting the mid-cycle update for '25 model year. Let's see how this evolves.
Consumer reports weighs too heavily on problems with infotainment and gadgets which the GMCs tend to have more of
Love ❤
I miss a real gear shifter stalk.
Sorry if you feelings are hurt over such an inconsequential item.
I am curious to see if GM customers will forgive them for such a horrific betrayal.
I'm sorry, but you two have the voice of bubble written all over it. I'm not even a believer, but I hear your voices on a GMC for $100k and I am thinking to stack Bitcoin, gold, and cash. This plays eerily 5 years from now in my ears.
Actually there are 16 speakers in the ultimate
Does it have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto? I heard GM was going to remove them from its future vehicles.
It does have it.
That's only for the electric vehicles
Nice suv
@@emikomina The point is, 1.4 issues per Lexus, 1.9 issues for the average car, much prognostication about relatively little.
Did you say 6 speakers??? I hope that's a mistake. For such a large vehicle, that can't be right
Moonroof, sunroof... What is next? Starroof?
I have had 7 GMC vehicles, 5 trucks and 2 SUV, One Tahoe and one Yukon, zero issues.! But residual value is falling, and lease deals are no longer affordable.
The Duramax version seems nice, the other version feels mediocre to me.
Pull buttons are for safety.
Why don't you talk about the problems with the 6.2 liter engine?
Well what's the problem
I recently rented the Chevrolet version for a trip and I must admit I came out impressed. I don't need a car this seize as my daily but I totally get why people would go for this type of vehicle. The diesel is the better choice for sure.
IT LOOKS LIKE A BLACK SCHOOL BUS 😂🤣. I Bet that this vehicle is Longer than the Batmobile 😮😂🤣!!! Hahaha 😂
Priced into the stratosphere at 136K. That is nuts.
Yes and 2 years later worth 50% of that.
Stalk. Is this really something you are that concerned about?? If so. your life is way too easy and unreflective.
May be 2 mpg.
You like diesels. Sad that the U.S. doesn’t like diesels in passenger vehicles.
Poor Piano Black, so derided, so bullied. Now, the Yukon has tons of Piano Black and not even a mention. Piano Black feels neglected. I say stop Piano Black hate, it’s pretty, and didn’t do anything to you!😂
Bought a 2023 gmc Yukon XL at 65k miles transmission is failing engine burns too much oil and just find out it’s a wide spread problem with GM cars
You can't compare a lincoln navigator to a yukon, if you want to compare the navigator to something you have to compare it to the escalade. As they both are the luxury versions of each brand.
