Played this game from the age 15-21 consistently. I watched every major, went to LANS, played in teams, was through all the UA-camrs that rised and fell, the OG org lineups. The gambling sites, the controversies, this game will always have a place in my memories. Never played a game so much in my life. I watched all these clips live, and I think damn, where was I back then in my life. I can remember watching with friends, teammates, where I was sat viewing IRL. About to be 2025 and I just get pure nostalgia from this. CS2 will never produce what CS:GO was. I happy to have been through the CS:GO golden years.
about a year ago, i had a dream that took me back a decade, I was rushing A-long on dust 2 in csgo, before the map rework, with my old skins and my childhood bestfriend, all on my old time accurate computer setup. I remember the dream vividly still now, it makes me feel sick to my stomach, like i could start crying any second. Things are so different now, I dont play counterstrike anymore, and in general I doubt I'll ever feel that sense of community counterstrike gave me as a formative young man. I miss my friends, my childhood, and the happiness I found in my day to day back then

CS2 has source engine unlike CS:GO, so almost all of it's code is different, but mechanics, weapons and maps strayed mostly the same, although not all mechanics stayed the same because of a new engine and therefore there are different bugs from what was there before
I get that overall CS2 isnt much different from CSGO, but I will forever miss this game. So many fond memories over the years, what we had was truly beautiful. RIP CSGO 2012 - 2023, you will be missed.

CS2 isn't the same anymore. Not even interested in the game. More and more cheaters, esport isn't like before, pleasure isn't like before. I'm super sad I didn't came to this game at his gold age with esport and fame behind this game. I wanted to follow the esport, I wanted to feel all of this. I've seen most of these plays live and regarding how most of these plays are insane it's also insane how much better players have gotten over the years looking back at this. It's not only technology getting better but e-sport is taken even more seriously and has evolved despite it's kinda crumbling now, but it's everything that evolves that contributes to how we feel about it that's part of these plays that happen on stage. A passionate crowd means a lot.

I grew up with CS1.6 and CSS, and it was also an unforgettable time. During that time, I never thought that the games would someday be forgotten, but time cannot be stopped. I never played CS:GO, but I understand how many feel. And in another 10 years, only a few will remember CS:GO.
I remember getting into this game playing on an old asus ROG laptop in my dorm room, pulling all-nighters grinding MM, shitposting on ESEA forums, starting a school team with 4 other guys on campus and becoming really good friends while we were there, competing in online leagues, local LAN tournaments. so many memories and connections came from this game. I haven't played in years now, but I saw most of these matches live and this video seriously brought me back. It's such a bittersweet feeling

And then they ruined the game the same way Overwatch did. Should've kept CS2 and CS:GO separate. 2800 hrs and will no longer be playing this fantastic game. Thank you Valve for killing my teenage years. :'( (real men cried)
so right bro. It would have encouraged them to make CS2 a true step above CSGO rather than a reskin. And if everyone decided to just play CS2 because it is better than CS it would have be acceptable to just close down the CS servers. Instead we are all forced to play CS2 no matter if the changes made are positive or negative.
