I'm considering getting one when the PCP on my Model 3 ends in September. The boot space is much more useable - and it would be more comfortable to go camping in (I have camped in my Model 3 - was great, apart from the parcel shelf). A question for those with a Model 3 with a screen at the back - how useful is it in reality? Do kids use it to watch videos and play games, or do they prefer to use phones/tablets in their hands? Does watching videos on a screen down there make people more car sick than watching videos on phones/tablets?
I looked at the PCH cost on Tesla UK v the outgoing model. £875 v £375 - ouch !! Cash - £61k up from £52k. In Australia I don't think it has gone up that much? Classic Rip off UK?? My friend was in the car business and he said the manufacturers called the UK "Treasure Island" At that price, I will not be upgrading because most of what has changed is worth little to me
Yes, it does seem very expensive on finance, I'm not sure the reason for that especially when there's such good deals on the previous model Y's. I'm going to hold out for the white colour and see what other options become available.
@@MBrown Yeah. It really does show just how much they have been discounting the old MY to get rid of the stock. In December you could get the AWD LR for £349 / month! I jumped a bit too early and got a SR RWD last June, still a good deal but not the best. The price in the PCH documents was £35.5k so about £10k off list. The new Y is not available until May in the UK so all versions will attract the luxury car additional tax for 5 years, which is not insignificant. If I was in the market for a Y now I would definitely get the AWD old model before the end of March on PCH, so you don't need to worry about depreciation
Dont forget this is the launch model. Paint, tow bar, acceleration boost, a few other bits. Hence the early adopter premium. The stock prices will be lower IMO
@@gap9992ordered the current model at £349 yesterday. More range than the new one and not £875 a month for not much change. Oh and that £875 is with £10k down too 🤣🤣
Thanks Mark. The new model looks great, i really like it. I will be upgrading from my current Model Y maybe towards the end of this year. Hopefully the payment deals will be more reasonable by then.
Yes, I'm looking forward to driving one too, now unfortunately I didn't get the stereo working so I couldn't test out the sound system however I've been told it's very good.
Hi Mark. Good update on this model. I'm so glad that Tesla have listened and re-instated the signal indicator because that really did put me off going for another Tesla when/if I change my car. Now if they they can do the same with the model 3 then that would be great.
I'm gutted. I was going to buy a Model 3 or Y this year and in the past, I could shrug his odd behaviour off and argue that Tesla as a company is more than just Elon - loads of talented designers and engineers - but coming out with all this fascist talk (and actions) lately, I just can't justify giving Tesla money and inevitably supporting him. Maybe buying 2nd hand/privately is an option? Or I'll wait and see how Polestar's finances get on in 2025 and opt for them...
What about the rear lights? Do you really think the indirect lighting bar will be the only rear light? I have my doubts that this is sufficient according to law (at least in Europe). Maybe the brake lights will be a combo of rear light (less bright) and break light (brighter)?
hey, so there are regular brake lights on the side as well and in the windscreen hoping to show this a little bit better when I can take it out for a drive
@ Yes, I got this with the brake lights. But I was wondering about the regular rear lights during night drives. I just assumed that the indirect light might not be sufficient. But let's see when they are on the roads in Europe 🙂
Thanks Mark for the review…great job explaining the features. Can’t wait to see one first hand but not sure when the states will receive them? Is the silver a standard color? My 2022 Model Y is white. I sure do like the silver. Looking forward to your reviews Mark thanks again
Thanks Kenny yes it seems different countries have different standard colours here it’s just black and silver on launch, but some countries don’t have the black at all!
yes it looks much nicer in person than in some of the photos, I think I will be upgrading to a model Y, the tricky thing is now there are tons of fantastic deals on the old model. So should I save my money and get the old model or wait and get the new model in a few months time?
@@MBrown well there is no improvement worth mentioning in range. The looks are a big thing but when you are in it you can’t see the outside. However the interior does look to be significant and suspension improvements too. I’d say if you get a stinking deal too good to miss you may as well go for it.
Congrats on being invited to view it early! I've been hanging on for this for so long but for me, even though it looks incredible, the deals on the current Model Y inventory are too good to miss and you get more range! You can get a rear wheel long range currently for £349 a month! The new one is £875 a month with £10,000 down and you get less range! Going to order one from inventory today!
Hey Mike thanks for the comment. Really appreciated, yes I agree with you. The current deals are very very good and the current model why they're still a fantastic car. I won't be ordering this launch model, but I might hold out to see what the full series of launch looks like in a few few weeks time
Why did they add automated rear seat and let the frunk Manuel?? Really a weird choice?? Seriously how often do you really need to laid down your rear seats, compared to opening/closing your frunk😅
I know it seems to be just an on and off switch to be honest it's like they've taken the buttons from the model three steering wheel and added it to a stalk
That’s strange. The stalk on the existing Model Y is really nice and the half press/full press is useful after you get used to it. Strange that they decided to change it’
Nice! I'll admit I was a little wierded out by the new look at first, but it's starting to grow on me. The fact that it still has an indicator stalk is a big win for me too. I haven't even had the current Model Y for a year yet so I won't be switching over, especially with the upcoming UK Road Tax changes for newly registered EVs in the Model Y's price range. I think I'll give it a few years then consider the new Model Y at that point.
Hey thanks for the comment. Yes I agree it's kind of everything I like about the new model three and everything I didn't like fixed which is good. I also didn't think I would like the look of the new model Y from its pictures. However in real life, it's actually very nice.
@@matuskubis2058 hey yes it’s actually very nice! Some of the things I didn’t think I would like from some of the leaked photos turned out actually to be quite nice in real life. I only got to see the quicksilver colour so I’m interested to see what the others look like.
