Great job Steve , I know that attic was hot and it gets frustrating . I need to find one of those poppers , that's a great tool! Nice house for not staying there all the time.
I'm glad I found this channel. I like how you explain things and its nice to see the stuff I'm learning about in action. I'm going to school for HVAC right now. I think I watched about 15 videos yesterday haha.
Steve, it always amazing every time, I watch one of your videos and you find the problem on the job..The ice cream truck out side always ,has the part for the job..Does the truck every run out of parts!!!!! MAMA!!!!!your gone to have to give it the OLD GUNDY!!!MAMA!!!!!
Actually had the same problem a few days ago, the only difference was the mouse was still there. He chewed the high-voltage 120 volt line, cooked him LOL
Nice video. I use the multi voltage transformer with the built in reset they are nice. I had a call the other day gas furnace blower was tripping breaker replaced motor found control board only putting out 92 volts. First one I seen do that
I saw a first form me yesterday. Someone had two transformers on a Hvac system both tied to r and c on the control board the thermostat didn't have an rc rh . The heat and air were running simultaneously
Got rid of the second transformer it wouldn't matter what kind of stat the way it was wired they were both paralleled on the same r and c Fed from separate power feeds
I worked on one back in the summer where the wired the 120v hot wire for the transformer through a ss1 ! I had one of those voltage detectors and noticed the wires were hot at the float lol crazy mess could have caught on fire 🔥
Hey Steve I've seen in your other videos that you have a tool you call a popper. You have a 3amp fuse in it and it pops instead of burning up fuses. Can you tell me where to get one? Thanks and great video!
My air conditioner will not turn on at all. No sound no fan no nothing. I think it may be the voltage but I'm not sure. It was working an hour prior. Then it just stopped. It's been off for a week now, nothing is turning on
Had a call that this lady had birds in her duct work. I just grabbed my small bag. Meter and a couple but drivers. She has 4 5 ton gas packs on the roof and a 2 ton split wine cooler. When I went to the 2nd floor in the bathroom and the bedroom you could hear birds chirping. I get up on the roof and go to remove the duct cover when the momma raccoon comes out from under the cover. She’s pissed growling hunching down. She wants me gone right now. I’m not feeling very welcome at this time. All I have is my little bag. Do I throw the whole bag or things one at a time? The raccoon takes off running and I head for the roof hatch. I get downstairs and the lady asks me if it’s bad. I say it’s much worse than we thought. You need animal control. Did you known how similar baby raccoons sound like baby birds. Lol true story.
At 10:00 you mention positive and common. I thought it didn't matter how you hooked up the 24v wire of the contactor? They are often not marked on new transformers.
I have a contactor receiving 24V but it doesn't close. I changed the contactor but still doesn't close. I guess there is somewhere short or backfeeding on the low voltage.. I don't know what to do.. What should I do? thanks.
I didn't realize those little transformers could put out 5 amps. :-) How much do those run price wise? Could be handy for my electronics projects! Nice fix!
Same thing on mine but the blower goes on but no low 24 volts to contactor outside but if I push down on the contactor the ac unit runs. the transmitter is buzzing and its hot. RHeed unit
I get a lot of 2 wire issues where I live due to rodents, there are times I was blown away by a contactor taking out fuses, ohmed out just like a new contactor, no issue with the 2 wire yet it kept blowing fuses, changed the contactor and fixed. Had this happen to me twice, any tips?
Hi Steve , your videos very informative . I burned 2 transformers always on primary side when the shorts were found on low voltage at the condenser. Can you plz explain
Fuckin mouse has been chewing on my wires, BITCH😂😂 you're video have been helpful over my 5 years and you're the most real personality doing UA-cam hvac. Love the content!!!
Great job Steve. Great troubleshooting. I love my little popper for low voltage shorts. Comes in real handy.
I liked the honesty about the heat and other irritations when working on HVAC
I could tell that was a frustrating and miserable job, thanks for taking time to film it. This video certainly helped me out. next level
Great job Steve , I know that attic was hot and it gets frustrating . I need to find one of those poppers , that's a great tool! Nice house for not staying there all the time.
its called the little popper they have 3 and 5 amp ones
Yeah haven't seen them in any supply houses around me , going to find it online somewhere . Thanks
Oh and those in line fuse set up , is that something u made or u bought it ?
its a automotive fuse set up you can just use spade connectors also
Thanks for the reply and info again Steve
I'm glad I found this channel. I like how you explain things and its nice to see the stuff I'm learning about in action. I'm going to school for HVAC right now. I think I watched about 15 videos yesterday haha.
well hope you can pick up a few pointers ,thanks for watching
The fuse popper is a great idea. It saved you time and money. I need to get one.
Kevin Tully Marine stores like West Marine usually have them.
I'm currently going to school for HVAC and I must say your video was very helpful!
Steve, it always amazing every time, I watch one of your videos and you find the problem on the job..The ice cream truck out side always ,has the part for the job..Does the truck every run out of parts!!!!! MAMA!!!!!your gone to have to give it the OLD GUNDY!!!MAMA!!!!!
this is the best video from you i have seen. thanks
Thanks for sharing Steven! Like Rob HVAC, I use a mini inline 2 amp breaker for finding shorts. The best $10 the hospital ever spent!
shorts can be a problem finding i have found the compresser contactor is offen to blame
Good stuff man. I'm about to hit the auto parts store to stock up on the fuse holders. Smart. Thanks Chad
Chadwick Hosier thanks for commenting
"its fuckin hot up here man this fuckin attic killin me up here"
My thought process every attic im in scramblin w a part
Excellent video.....very professional performance.
thanks kaibil for the comment
Your 24volts is your load side of the transformer
"Fuckin' mowse has bin chewin' ahn my wye-yuhs!......bitch!"
-Lovin it Steve!
Great vid😃
Good job on the diagnosis Steve !! must love the mice its job security lol great job
bam mice......... what a bitch
Yes they are!!!!!
Nice video Steven, that little popper will pay for itself in no time at all. Keep up the good work.
Ray
the little popper is a handy tool to have
Actually had the same problem a few days ago, the only difference was the mouse was still there. He chewed the high-voltage 120 volt line, cooked him LOL
Daniel Grenon lol death sentance
Nice video. I use the multi voltage transformer with the built in reset they are nice. I had a call the other day gas furnace blower was tripping breaker replaced motor found control board only putting out 92 volts. First one I seen do that
nothing suprices me any thing is possable
Good thing I used a fuse!!! Good job Steve
Nice troubleshooting Steve. I like that fuseholder.
Nicholas CeeA well save the transformer from burning up again
Nice!!! I have seen mice go for the line voltage wires outside. What a mess!!!!
Kudos again Steve... you're the man !!!Ron
good video Steve,, those hot attics can be a bummer, I usually sweat so bad I can't see through my glasses
Very good video!! great from start to finish!
thanks clemons

" I'm sweaten my ess off up hea "
That wasn't easy..!!! But you did it again. Good job 👏🏻
Good tips Steven I am impressed
+Phil Jones thanks for the comment
Nice Steve . I'll use that fuse set up next time I'm changing out a contactor or a step down .
Nice Job, great troubleshooting.
S Sam thanks sam
Nice detective work Steven!
thanks heavy diesel
love your videos man. learn a lot. thank you and keep them coming.
i sniknej thanks for the support
I saw a first form me yesterday. Someone had two transformers on a Hvac system both tied to r and c on the control board the thermostat didn't have an rc rh . The heat and air were running simultaneously
wow do you change the tstat??
Got rid of the second transformer it wouldn't matter what kind of stat the way it was wired they were both paralleled on the same r and c Fed from separate power feeds
I made a popper as you call it for checking refrigerator compressors. I think I will make on for checking the transformer with a fuse in it.
Excellent troubleshooting. Ur a Pro.
willie1950 thanks for commenting
Awesome video. Keep the service and install videos coming!
sure will
At 16:32. Make sure your Snapple does not have aspartame in it it’s not good for the body it’s an artificial sweetener.
Love those attics....lol
Momma be proud of that one
I worked on one back in the summer where the wired the 120v hot wire for the transformer through a ss1 ! I had one of those voltage detectors and noticed the wires were hot at the float lol crazy mess could have caught on fire 🔥
Flippin mice that's the problem!!! Nice video Steve!
Man, im a go out to the van and ohm a brand new contactor and then ohm a bad one now. That was dope.
Steve you're next level
Interesting scenario you had there Steve. Stuff like that interests me. It makes you think.
i like troubleshooting
It sounds like fun. It could be anything when it comes to electronics.
That heat will make you say things about those rodents lol ! Great vid you r da man.
Smart call on that fuse block
Nice job Steve . Take care, Brett
thanks brett
Steve , this is a very good troubleshooting video , very informative and great teaching tool
Great video 👌🤙🏼
I had a dang lady bug get on the coil of the contractor the other day and shorted the transformer! A lady bug!!!!
nothing suprices me anymore
Nice troubleshooting!
That blower motor sounded like its on its way out, or maybe a weak cap.
+okpues77 cap was good

"Mouse ate my wires, bitch." Made me chuckle.
lol i have been leaving in some of my saying lol i can be a bit crude
Thanks for sharing Steve great video
thanks for watching ace
My air conditioner will not turn on at all. No sound no fan no nothing. I think it may be the voltage but I'm not sure. It was working an hour prior. Then it just stopped. It's been off for a week now, nothing is turning on
found that a couple dryer sheets keeps the rodents out, try it
Dave Tervo i will have to try that out
Sir, thanks for sharing your knowledge
Next Level Mamaa!
thanks

so the mice chewed the wire cousing the transfomer to blow? just splice the wire and replace the transformer. whats the connection with those two?
At 10:00 you mention positive and common. I thought it didn't matter how you hooked up the 24v wire of the contactor? They are often not marked on new transformers.
yes it does matter if you have 2 transformers hocked up to same line .if it sparks when touching =switch wires or you will fry them .
Enjoyed the video.
thanks for watching
Good job steven.
thanks cody
Good stuff Steve! Damn mice
dansweeney10 ya mice can be a problem
Very nice repair Steven dam mice
lol dam mice
I have a contactor receiving 24V but it doesn't close. I changed the contactor but still doesn't close. I guess there is somewhere short or backfeeding on the low voltage.. I don't know what to do.. What should I do? thanks.
Nice job and video like always ( Steven
What size gauge wire is your inline fuse that you are installing on the transformer
yeah been there done that as well, Hadda lady scream!!!! when she saw the mouse, lol what is it with women and mice?
Gary Schumacher mice are a problem for sure ,can get nasty
what gauge wire on the inline fuses , and are they automotive inline fuses
Can you plz explain why you are wearing gloves ? Does it protect you from getting electrical shock? Plz do reply, thanks
@pete. It's regular practice in the industry, never know when you have to pee. A little, but not really.
Now is that inline fuse you installed an automotive inline fuse like you can buy on Amazon
good find & fix Steven
thanks wayne
I didn't realize those little transformers could put out 5 amps. :-) How much do those run price wise? Could be handy for my electronics projects! Nice fix!
there only like 20$ or so .i have all kinds in the truck
:-)
Nice video!
thanks tj
Nice video
Steve was the lil popper a 24v
buttercup eshop yes its a 24 volt 3 amp little popper that also make a 4 amp one also i believe
What is the name of that style of fuse holder? Did you get it from a automotive store?
yes any one will work
mouse was chewing on my wires.... bitch.. Man I was rolling.
Same thing on mine but the blower goes on but no low 24 volts to contactor outside but if I push down on the contactor the ac unit runs. the transmitter is buzzing and its hot. RHeed unit
It wasn't low ohms. Direct short. Correct me if im wrong never heard low ohms tripping fuses or burning transformers
KQP Twin low ohm= a short just so you know
Ok ill take your word for it. But original cause insulation off the copper wire touched metal direct short. I trust your experience.
do you have a helper on this job.
I think I seen a guy with gloves
i work alone .dog is in training
What the hell are those red wire nuts on the outside of the air handler
I get a lot of 2 wire issues where I live due to rodents, there are times I was blown away by a contactor taking out fuses, ohmed out just like a new contactor, no issue with the 2 wire yet it kept blowing fuses, changed the contactor and fixed. Had this happen to me twice, any tips?
Daniel Cortez I think sometimes the contacts on the contractor go bad, stick or start arcing maybe.
Hi Steve , your videos very informative . I burned 2 transformers always on primary side when the shorts were found on low voltage at the condenser. Can you plz explain
Pete Singh From my research, the contractor is the cause of a bad transformer about 80 percent of the time.
So the loss of resistance causes in rush of current then POP???
He had a short, it is simply cheaper to replace a fuse than a transformer.
do you test the 120v-AC and 24v-AC with the power on to the furnace?
Do you charge them for all the parts added?
Fuckin mouse has been chewing on my wires, BITCH😂😂 you're video have been helpful over my 5 years and you're the most real personality doing UA-cam hvac. Love the content!!!
Good video!
Have a unit the inductor fan runs all the time, no heat
nice troubleshooting
thanks andy
Does 27V reading on the 24V output side of a transformer sound reasonable?
Yes all transformers I've installed read about 27v
OUT FREAKING STANDING!!!!!!!!!!
thanks eagle
you and those gloves lol
Steve where I buy the sdbd-1 bit driver slide 3"
let me know
would blower motor continue to run even without a working transformer?
No it wouldn't work
Steve what is the number
of the brush that you
used for clean the Ac
