Thanks for re-voicing the BRDM-2 and new additional information. But, as you said that the vehicle is highly useless in Ukraine. By this war, I think many users of BRDM-2 would retire it.
Well, there are a lot of them in the Ukrainian army, so we can still observe them in this conflict. This is due to the fact that some civilian volunteers repaired these vehicles in 2014 and handed them over to volunteer battalions, which mostly had only civilian buses and cars. And Ukraine was so unable to resolve the issue of what to do with approximately 1000 serviceable brdm-2 units, because we still observe this equipment in battles
Brdm-2 is scout vehicle , it not mean to stick around and fight , they role is drive ahead of the formation if hit contact ( ambush ) or spot enemy radio back and flee back to the main force well that how we used them in Vietnam .

It makes me think of M1117 armored car of the US. To my eye, side hatches would be quite desirable for getting in and out with just a bit of cover. Did I see some images of vehicles so modified, or was that add-on armor?
I find these vehicles cute looking. The vision ports in front look like big eyes and the overall shape looks like a frog. I would buy a BRDM-2 plushie.

The Ukraine War is a High Intensity hot-war unlike anything since WW2. It appears that the BRDM is not fairing well either due to Ukrainian tactics &/or perhaps due to poor Russian tactics & training.
