I think it is just because this guy ignorant. Instead of demeaning people and redirecting Peterson’s ideas back into subjects that aren’t even related. He is reframing everything instead of actually address the issues and adding some insight.
@@michaelgrimm2121 nah, they're meant to sound intelligent without conveying any actual information. They're geared primarily to those who fear the intelligent, but want to see their opinions reflected in the mainstream. But they also don't recognize actual intelligent statements. Quote from Jordan "This organization and reorganization occurs as a consequence of “war,” in its concrete, abstract, intrapsychic, and interpersonal variants." It's intelligent sounding gobbledygook.
That's pretty much all comment sections surrounding criticism of Peterson. It's 4chan trolls trying to act as though they have the slightest bit of intellectual honesty, but not being able to resist lashing out in childish ways and showing their true selves.
Peterson is what philosophers through the ages called (pejoratively) a sophist. He’s educated and a reasonably good rhetorician, and he’s really good to sticking to his story. The problem is that he’s full of shit. He’s part of a legion of people to argue in bad faith so that the power structure can be maintained. The only thing Sam said in which I disagree is that the rich/powerful want zero politics. They know very well that politics (they way the right uses it) is how they construct a narrative to legitimize their position in society.
10000% this. The right thrives on «petty politics» like the «culture war». They create scapegoats, lies, disinformation about minorities, that turn the working class against the minority instead of against their actual oppressors. You’ll see millions of poor, working men vote against their own interests as workers, because some decietful rhetoricion in his castle somewhere said that «gay people are taking over culture». It’s insane. I’m not sure the demagouge even think they are doing bad in service of the dominant classes. I think they might genuinely believe that vulnerable groups are NOT entiteled to take part in the goods of society. As in some fascistic «natural order» that it is not only futile, but actually immoral to challange. I think many of them are actually pathologically and authentically fascists who think they are lying for a good cause.
Peterson is the Deepak Chopra of pseudointellectual doublespeak.

😂😂😂😂😂 You are doing the same thing you of which accuse those people. They follow a flawless entity, you label an entire entity as on thing. Your opinion is meaningless if not refereed to something specific, because nobody is only one thing, every narrative has a level of depth, and if big groups claim explain the world, it has an intrinsic meaning, even if false (you yourself have a with a high probability a wrong picture of reality. It has happen every single decade of the last 100 years, in which axioms crumble and are replaced. Only ignorant people don't see it, because they are happy with the illusion of being the owners of the truth (which is only the last available truth, to them)). How detrimental are his proposals, how delusional it is, it is a matter of debate. If the average attendee in Oxford Union, that was crowded, was mainly highly intelligent educated people and were delighted (The same in Madrid. I have friends flying from several parts of Europe to those conferences). I would say neither the market segment you refer to coincides with reality, nor you are doing anything but to elevate yourself over a cloud of vapor. I would say cheap labels are the dopamine for the soul of mediocre narrow minded self centered simpletons (that are so frequent in humanities). If you want to debate a certain point, it would be my pleasure to humiliate you 😉 PS: I know it would be easy to humiliate you because the guy doesn't have particularly original views, he just communicates mostly mainstream science, so it is the people who consider him an intellectual who area strange, and people who deny he is, because they are just ignorant, because he is just a guy that talks quite evident things.
That is exactly his game. He says simple things in a complicated way to make you feel like you have just discovered an unchangeable truth. A hard fact. In between, he lets his agenda flow into the relevant claims, the agenda stuff he formulates as a question, so that he can never be pinned down to a straightforward answer. Within this narrative, these agenda-fueled questions seem like part of the other statements and the listener thinks he has discovered a truth here too.
He pointed out that they were too polarized which might be because he didn't know about the situation in the US just like I didn't when, Sweden as an example isn't as polarized as America and I just found that out when Trump got into the election.

I've been following The majority report for years- but I never really watched a lot of the videos - they were kind of dry for me. But then the humanity report started talking a lot about the Crowder BS, and now I'm down a Sam Seder rabbit hole.
Well, I though that he was rightly caught flat footed, and could've done a better job at regrouping and clarifying what Wagner was questioning, but he simply could've said that the modern liberal class is overly preoccupied with offending people; just a certain group, while they care not about offending another group. I'm sure that I don't have to spell it out as to which groups I'm referring. But honestly, he understands the impeachment process. I guarantee you that. He even said that impeachment and conviction "is not an unimportant distinction." But by "impeachment" he pretty much means whatever ramifications come out of it, including non-conviction. In any case, he's saying that there isn't much consideration for what happens when that segment of the population is disenfranchised, and impeachment alone was going to do that. And then Jan 6th happened, and you now understand Peterson's original point.
Yeah Wagner really made a great point. "You're worried about a large majority of people that have strong emotions on one subject, meanwhile we're worried about a large majority of people that have strong emotions on one subject, but we also love equality. Just not for those people."
I think things are closing in on Mr Peterson.... more and more people are seeing through his facade of a scholar. He's turning in the Dr Oz of philosophy.

What's interesting to note, is that Jan 6th has happened since the Real Time taping, and this MR critique of Peterson's appearance on it, and without a doubt, shows that Peterson had a helluva point, yet one that Seder seemed to need to mock. This sort of sanctimony is largely what self owns liberals, such as the historic defeat of Clinton in the 2016 election.
While I think Sam is usually pretty good at remaining neutral with his analysis of interviews and the merit of ideas, I was disappointed. Peterson didn’t say that dems SHOULD have their hands out to welcome the Trumpers to their side. He said they ARE. Of course that’s true. You want people on your side. Not to see which one "destroys" the other, just to see two adults talking calmly and to hopefully express viewpoints held by many.
His argument isn't that men can't help themselves when women display sexuality. His argument is that we haven't really established what conducts sexual harassment. Its really easy to follow his logic: Women puts on sexual display -> Men become attracted -> Men try to respond (flirting, conversation, etc) -> What amont of "response" is appropriate? (I.E. we dont know where the exact line is) Because this is different from individual to individual, from company to company, from country to country. This is his argument, that human beeings are sexual by nature, and when we try to coexist without "sexuality" things become very complicated. But nice strawman.

This approach just dehumanizes women, because it makes consent impossible to define and makes room for arbitrary implied consent, while in reality you have to... ask that person if you can do A...

Your trying to pigeonhole the good doctor. He uses his ambiguous affiliation to make it seem like he doesn't have an agenda. He is just talking science. How dare you pay attention to the man behind the curtain.
Maher is not an establishment partisan, he's an egoist. Like Jimmy Dore, there may be some very basic and in some cases, very specific issues where I largely agree with him, but this is all theater, sensationalism, and ego-boosting shit. 15% of inviting guys like Peterson or Yiannopoulos on to his show is *maybe* about a healthy, fear-free discussion, 30% just fucking with people to get a reaction (case in point...), and 55% masturbation.
@Vote Blue 2020 Seriously? I know Peterson isn't that bright when it comes to politics. But really? Saying that Dyson knows what he's talking about? If that's the case then no wonder that Trump won the election if that's how Americans view politics.
He's so right people- scorekeep! Scorekeep your butt off and DEEPLY suspect anyone who claims they don't. You don't win 90-100% of the time in a game where the odds are even.
Sam - what you are not helping yourself here. You need to listen, truly listen, to what Peterson is saying not what you think he’s saying. He’s warning America that if everyone, left and right, excessively self identifies into narrow tribes then the end is not too far away. When you are loosing the argument you attack the person and man you have really lost the argument. Pathetic!!
wow. firstly how can the two sides come together when one (the right) refuses to even consider the others arguments rationally and exists solely to fuel oppositionism (forced procreation, racism, mysogyny, theocracy, oligarchy are all right initiatives) second you clearly are only listening to peterson if you think he has the moral high ground on anything.
Peterson is saying that the country is *increasingly* polarized. The cast of the show had just gone on a 5-minute anti-trump name-calling rant, and he challenged them to reframe the conversation into discussing how to bring the extremes back together again. Peterson used to live and teach at Harvard, and it *has* gotten worse in the past five years.
It has got worse inasmuch as now some of the ire is directed straight toward an incredibly aggressive right-wing (one so polarised themselves that the president is supported by - and potentially supportive of - the KKK, and you've had right wing rallies that are both incredibly violent and similar in makeup to ones seen in mainland Europe circa 1930's). The left is certainly now more willing to speak up but that is the reaction to an overwhelmingly aggressive right wing (and being disenfranchised by a political system that, frankly, has been aggressively right wing regardless of the winning party). Frankly this argument of Peterson's ignores the cotinued aggression toward the majority of voters (Trump didn't win the majority, the majority of votes for the Senate were for the left but the right run it, and gerrymandered districts at the lower level). If this argument should be turned toward anyone it would be Trump and a vast swathe of the Republican machinery. And remember all of the above is nowhere near as bad committing a crime! Peterson's argument has a foolish logical end point - even if he does his best to try and avoid speaking it aloud - that benefits only those his arguments aim to reach: don't investigate Trump incase it agitates the minority even if the majority now believe him to be guilty of a crime (as the latest polls show). It is a fair point to acknowledge that minority and how such changes might make them feel as long as you make clear that in Western States the law should apply to everyone and - much like the Supreme Court nominee in Obama's last term, or Brett, or birthers - there are some political issues that you've got to slog out and debate as adults without it becoming civil war. The second end point of his argument, which his supporters should find troubling, is that the right wing (who the left all view as 'backwards' according to an esteemed academic) are now incapable of living in a society, where such issues are debated and resolvedn as equal members. Rather it seems that he thinks them too backwards to engage with evidence, and logic, and morality. Which tells you what he thinks of his supporters on occasion - beyond logical, reasonable, rational, debate. And yes- he deliberately ignores the panellist's point that his previous arguments have painted the left as too toothless and preoccupied with identity politics (which is, in itself nonsense, as the right are obsessed about skin color, gender, and sexuality as much as, if not more, than the left) while now they're just too damn loud and thoughtless. He deliberately chose to avoid debating the obvious internal complications and contradictions of his own very specific argument in favour of spouting right wing talking points. That tells me, at least, all I need to know about his intellectual veracity. Not least because I've seen him duck fair questions about his rhetoric before viewing this particular instance.

It's hilarious seeing him perplexed by a clear point Wagner was making, and not understanding the impeachment process. He's so brilliant!

Putting words in peoples mouths etc.
I would love to see a debate between these two. Not to see which one "destroys" the other, just to see two adults talking calmly and to hopefully express viewpoints held by many.
Ah, the classic "you quote out of context" defense.
His argument isn't that men can't help themselves when women display sexuality. His argument is that we haven't really established what conducts sexual harassment. Its really easy to follow his logic:
Women puts on sexual display ->
Men become attracted ->
Men try to respond (flirting, conversation, etc) ->
What amont of "response" is appropriate? (I.E. we dont know where the exact line is)
Because this is different from individual to individual, from company to company, from country to country.
This is his argument, that human beeings are sexual by nature, and when we try to coexist without "sexuality" things become very complicated.
But nice strawman.
Only a moron or an incel doe not know the appropriate way to act in response to lipstick or seeing an attractive women. Let me help you treat a women the way you a straight man would want a gay man to treat you. Would you like it if a gay man told you to smile more so you can be hotter ect
The line is pretty solid - you do something without consent of other person. I've seen people playing some apologetics, maybe it was Peterson. That women say X but in fact they test men or something. This approach just dehumanizes women, because it makes consent impossible to define and makes room for arbitrary implied consent, while in reality you have to... ask that person if you can do A...

He's also saying the left needs to reach out to them and that they have a point ect
@@ScoundrelDaysSon The right use so much Identity politics it hurts. Literally hurts... a lot of brown people. Don't forget Religion, that's for sure identity politics. I hear the right talk about all the differences people have constantly, and always in an ignorant sometimes hateful way. They get offended at the idea of equality in all it's forms. So his idea that the Left are too focused on identity politics, when all I hear from the left is substantive policy debates, who the fuck is he kidding besides himself?
@@notsayingimbetterthanyoubu3187 Besides himself and some pseudo-intellectuals that is (because I genuinely believe his arguments' internal contradictions are relatively easy to see). Either he’s misrepresenting or he just doesn’t recognize that america has become more and more politically divided specifically in the last 20 years.
100% whiny girls club those two
You're making generalizations. That's exactly what he's talking about and it's going right over your head. "These are the people..." etc.
JP has changed my life for the better. Thanks JP!
You didn't have much of a life to begin with then.
@@ITSAULGONE well that’s uncalled for. He could be referring to JP’s political arguments sure, but he could be referring to JP’s many lectures on the human mind and methods for improving yourself. He does a lot more than politics if you know about him.
Same bro he helped me a lot❤️🙏
@@ITSAULGONE ok. Maybe that's true. What's your point? Should we not help people who don't have a good life?
