It's been at least 30 yrs since I last Sky Dived (and I've always wondered if it should really be said, "Sky DOVE"???🤔)
But for Christy's sake, I just HAVE TO SAY, That 1st jump IS ALMOST a heart attack, BUT once you're out of the plane, there is no sensation of falling.... Course I never got past "static line" jumps, where the chute is opened for you as soon as you leave the airplane's door way... But once you see the chute is open above you, the rest of the trip to the ground is the most peaceful thing in the world !
As for YOUR "buddy jump", Chandra, I was a little curious as to why your instructor was wearing a helmet, but you were not ? ...I never used one either. Did he say why he wore one ? like I said, it has been MANY YEARS since I last hung from a parachute but (the COST of ANYTHING that has to do with aviation is what prohibits the majority of us....) But I REALLY WANNA try one of those SQUARE CHUTES, with a 4 to 1 glide ratio so you can stay aloft a lot longer and just STEP DOWN onto the ground, instead of having to fall and roll.
Anyways, nice to have another interview with our favorite aviators, Chandra and Mike ...🥰‼️

I can relate to the situation. Back in 1978 at the EAA event. I got to ride back seat in the Brokaw Bullet. We took off for the fly- by with aircraft doing 150 and up. We were doing 200+ in pattern. We flew outside of the other planes. When it was time to land , we had a red light on the nose wheel. Tower said doors were open but no gear drop. He found oil on his pant leg. Then he told me we had a problem. After trying the CO2 backup which didn't work. We declared a emergency and was told to land and the fire trucks are waiting. He trimmed up the plane so we can use the tail skid. We landed with lots of smoke from the skid. When we stopped He got out walked around to the nose and locked the gear down. Then got back in fired up and taxied back to his parking spot. Then the fire trucks showed. No buddy around took pictures that I know of. He was able to fix the plane and took it up for a test flight. I was calm the whole time.

i have reservations about subscribing, as if it would force the lady into skydiving. There's nothing wrong with have limitations, fears or inabilities- as long as they don't inhibit what you want to do. You don't have to do battle with every scary thing. Choose your battles well - what is the benefit of conflicts? In an aviation intensive social life jumping out of a perfectly good airplane is not part of the program. I mean how many pilots today wear a parachute as a hedge for poor decisions? The only thing in sky-diving that is in common with general aviation is a functioning airplane.
